Honeysuckle Martinis and Sump Pump News....

Martinis and sump pumps do not usually go together but those were the two main ingredients for this Monday.....along with my early morning yearly physical with Dr. Abraham. I left here at 9:00 this morning and returned jut shy of noon......doctor visit, labs drawn and then a manicure and pedicure at Hollywood Nails on Beltline Road! (That place is awesome!) Two lab results have already come in and they are good! Love the patient portal thing - as soon as the results are in, they are automatically posted to your portal.

Last night I gathered 50+ honeysuckle blossoms and made my syrup for this special cocktail.

It calls for Vanilla Vodka and I used the last little bit from a bottle my neice, Leah, gifted me over 3 years ago. A little vodka goes a long way!

I made what is basically simple syrup infused with honeysuckle - only I used honey in place of the sugar. Really good. I popped that in the fridge overnight and this afternoon all I had to do was add the syrup, vodka and carbonated flavored water together. It calls for club soda but I didn't have any.

It made for a very pretty drink!

AND it tasted good!
The syrup might go well with some coconut rum I have.
I think once a week I will concoct some sort of drink from it.
Not much alcohol but a lot of fun when you have a friend over for 'Happy Hour!'

We love Pam and we both love to visit with her.
When she left, Louis Dean asked me, "Do you mind if I invite a beautiful lady out to dinner while you are in Kansas City?" Little does he know that I have asked Pam to keep an eye on him while I'm gone so - Win! WIN!!!

It rained this morning and will rain again soon and for several days.
I suggested to Louis Dean that he go out and take up enough boards to SEE with his eyes why the water came inside the house instead of going inside the sump pump and carried away.
He did just that and discovered the problem and found a solution!

He is a saint!
He didn't put back the five boards he took off  yet.....
but I think the water knows where to go now!

Don't you????

I have never heard of this kind of syrup. It is so light golden and beautiful! Well, finding out where the water is coming from is half the battle!

Oh Linda, I love your visits, and I love your creativity...gathering from nature to make fun and special drinks. Yes, I do believe your Louis Dean is a saint. I've never seen a picture of him not working or smiling. What a special man you have...I remember the days when my dearest was a strong healthy man, serving the Lord with all his stength. His body can't do it anymore, but I swear his brain is working overtime what his body can't. He is always studying and reading, and I love the conversations we have about God's Word.
Thanks again for being such a faithful friend. If I ever get to Texas, I will look you up!!!
