A Fort Worth Friday!

So I was up early and all excited about spending a Friday in Fort Worth with my sister, Nita!
We got a lot of things done and had a wonderful day together.

I'll start out with our adventure to smuggle a couple of cheeseburgers in to Lillian.
After I took them out of the Braums bag ( and they did smell so good!) I sealed them in zip lock bags and placed them underneath the wreath. The wreath is not heavy and I am certain the hamburgers may have been snug and cozy but they were not squished. I also had a bag with the sealed from the Walmart deli container of coleslaw and a sealed up package of pickle loaf - the lunchmeat Lillian is particularly fond of. AND a case of Dr Pepper Cream Soda and a 6 pack of Pepsi.
Everything has to be SEALED!!!

I called Lillian and told her we were about to deliver the goods.
It was a no risk visit for me as I left the things - clearly labled with Lillian's name - in the first entrance and the staff came in and took them from there.

Apparently, they now have a rule that they must spray everything down and then keep it for 24 hours before taking it to the resident.

Well, Lillian had a fit and I guess she wore them down because they brought everything down to her - including the wreath with the hidden burgers!
YAY!!!
However, she called me later to say that the next time they WILL keep whatever I bring for 24 hours!
Then she called me again and said there are now 30 cases of Covid and she is not allowed to so much as open her door. "I feel like I am in PRISON!"
And so she IS!

We had done all we could do to be a blessing to Lillian today and we will continue to pray for her.
Things are getting so tight I doubt I can even take her things for awhile.

On a brighter note - I gave Nita a late birthday gift!
I had a canvas print made of my Mr. and Mrs. Claus painting!
She loves it - but I knew she would!
That's why I gave it to her!

I always love visiting Nita and Mike's beautiful home.

They make a good decorating team.
Mike hangs the lights and they are everywhere!!

Nita has quite the Santa Wall herself.
She won most of these at the Chinese Christmas Tree over the years and some I painted special just for her. Love the Red Barn painting hung over the red barn!

Their home features several Christmas trees.

This is a scene in the living room.

This decoration is a vintage cardboard creation and the tree lights still work!

The Santa on a bike was new last year but I totally missed it then.

Beautiful!

Mike is a magician with stringing up all the colored lights.

The Merry Christmas was custom made for them by a friend and pictures do not do it justice!

Mike attached lights around the circle and they change color.
This opening looks into the back room - which is a treasure trove of vintage and antique things.

Mother's old ceramic tree with the new bird lights Nita found.

Nita and I had the best of Fridays!!
We shopped Dillard's for fragrance and ran some errands.
She took me to the post office to mail off the Christmas Santa giveaway to Ohio and my other two packages are now on their way. Plus ALL my Christmas cards are in the mail!
Can you believe the post office was sold out of International stamps?
So Nita took me to another post office where they had SIX!! I needed SEVEN plus I wanted a couple extra. I bought their six and a book of $0.55 stamps and a book of $0.15 ones.
I did NOT want to stand in another postal line!!

I told Nita I needed to be home by dark and I arrived at 5:00 - nearly a half hour before the sun went down!

Louis Dean had a package arrive in the mail today!
He had not opened it because he thought it might have been something I ordered.

Nope! It was a belated birthday gift from his oldest daughter.
I think he likes it!!!!

We spent a few minutes visiting in the den sharing our day's adventures.
He cooked while I was gone today. Hamburger steak he called it. The kitchen didn't look too bad!

In looking for the red chair covers for the dining room, I pulled out this heavy furry blanket that Louis Dean totally loves! Tabitha isn't too sure of it. Is it a critter? She was gingerly trying to figure it out.

Samantha, on the other hand, jumped right up on top of it and thought it was a fine place to be!

Let me tell you about our shopping trip to Dillard's!
Nita went to specifically purchase The Scent of Christmas.
And it really is!
I bought that as well as the Scent of the Tree.
And we each bought a big bag of Scent of Christmas Potpourri!

This smells SO good!!

We also shopped for perfumes and fragrance.
Louis Dean had asked me to find and buy my Christmas gift!
I wanted fragrance.
For years I have been wearing Red Door - as well as others for everyday because I wear some kond of fragrance every single day - no matter what. It's like brushing my teeth and combing my hair. I spray on fragrance every morning and clip on a pair of earrings. Even though I am still in my nightgown!

So, YES!!! This was a really wonderful Friday!

And I will close out this journal entry with a pic of Louis Dean - fresh from a long hot bath scented with Skin So Soft bath oil - and looking very handsome!

I an going now to look for a Christmas background and header for my blog!
I am so late.......
But I only have the sewing room, hall, baths and bedrooms and I will have my whole house decorated!

Your new background is gorgeous! I love the bluebird and angels. I also loved the tour of Nita's house, it is like a Christmas museum or a fancy Christmas boutique. Louis Dean's shirt fits him perfectly!

Such a nice day except for the news on Lillian. It must be so hard on her. I pray this COVID disappears soon.

Nita's house is so beautiful. I love how she has decorated everything.

Oh I was nervous there reading about Lillian's things. Lillian having a fit over anything seems out of character for her, but boyz does she ever have the right to have a fit. I sure hope that place is planning Christmas dinner in advance for those residents. They should be doing everything in their power to make conditions more tolerable. Bless you for all you do to help, Linda. I think Nita does as well. You are a couple of angels.

Nita sure does have a happy, Christmas home. Your painting will be right at home there. How fun to be able to visit. I sure enjoy being in my sister's home.

Louis Dean looks mighty fine wearing his gift. Hope that his daughter has the chance to see that photo.

Must get cracking this Saturday morning...the tree is looking dark and scary when it should be lit and looking cheery. 🎄

Nitas home is lovely, and I love that circle friends made and the print on the wall over the little radio. LD shirt is perfect for him. the white tree made me kick myself in the butt again. back in 2005, I gave one just like it to a friend at work. i had the birds and the regular lights. my aunt made it for my mother way back in mid 70's and when mother died i brought it home. not sure what i was thinking. i got in one of my get rid of everything modes and have wanted it many times to sit in the nook...

I love the lessons from the Christmas tree. You certainly do a good job of it bringing lots of happiness to others and sharing so much of yourself too. Nuraing home would seem like prisons right now. Happy you were able to brighten your friends day! No doubt about it you should have a very merry Christmas at your house this year !

I'm so glad you could have such a fun day with your Sis. She sure has a lovely home. I seem to have missed the decorating gene.
Happy Lillian got her burgers but oh it's so painful to hear about the prison she and others there are in.
LD looks so cute in his T shirt. Such a handsome guy you have got there.
Wishing you the best Christmas ever.

So many at in Lillian's shoes. It's so hard on everyone being isolated but especially the elderly. Just ask me... I think I fit in that elderly category. I wish we could do more to ease their lonliness. You have such a giving heart, Linda. I know Lillian treasures your friendship

Linda, I am reminded once again fo what a good soul you are! Poor Lillian-my heart aches for her and others like her that are stuck in nursing homes/rehab centers and can't interact with anyone.
Louis Dean looks mighty fine in his Music Tshirt. His daughter knows him well.
I, too, wear scent every day. I wear Tuscany per Dona in the cold months and switch to Beach another lighter scent for the warm summer months.
Have a wonderful night, Linda. xo Diana

How nice to see all the decorations. So sorry the resthome is facing so many cases of Covid. You are such a dear and faithful friend. I had a friend like that named Elisabeth...I visited her for years in the resthome. When she passed her son's ask my dearest to have her service. I led her to the Lord with the Wordless Book when she was in her 90's. So I know I will see her again in heaven.

Bless you for all the good works you do in the name of Jesus.

Next time you will have to sneak the cheeseburgers in, inside a zip lock bag in your purse.
You are such a good friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
