Dry Weather and Busy Bees!

I have never seen the ranch this dry before.

After the sun went down yesterday, Louis Dean and I walked down to the big tank to see what we could see.

This is the driest I have ever see the tank!

This time last year I was kayaking here!

I walked all the way out to the little island.
The horses have been out there, too.
Can you see their big old hoof prints?

I was reading in the bee book I borrowed from the bee club and discovered that honeybees prefer brackish water to a clear running stream. They get more nutrients this way.
That's a good thing because bees need water and thank the Lord, we still have some - as dirty as it is.

Louis Dean has been feeling a little under the weather and I am concerned.
I keep at him to drink water and he's not been outside to play today - not even once!
As a matter of fact, he's in bed now as I write this on Thursday afternoon and has been in bed off and on ever since he got up.
I will be so happy when we get to the cardiologist for his appointment on the 30th.

On our way over to the tank, we stopped off so I could check on the bees in the apiary.
It was nearly 9:00 so all the foragers were back in the hives.

I didn't have my bee suit on and you can se how close I got to the bees.
They all behaved like the perfect little ladies they are!

Sorry about the side view!
I was so excited to hear the humming of the bees!

One hive looked busier than the others but all were humming and seem to be doing well.

This one was the least active so I am sure Sherry and I will be checking them all soon to determine if we need to add some resources or something to that hive.

Last night's sunset!

Today (Thursday) has been another HOT day in Texas with temps of 100+.
Louis Dean has not felt well all day and pretty much stayed in bed.
He's been drinking water and resting but can't seem to get enough energy to do more than sit on the deck for a few minutes and then get back in bed.

I've puttered around doing one thing and then another.
I balanced my checkbook, did a Blog 2 Print order - I am now halfway through 2019!
They are having a sale with 45% off!
Coupon code is: BLOWOUT
I have spent several hours at the art table and started writing chapter 26 of my book.
I am now at the point where I have hand written journals to aid my memory!

I'm writing my journal entry for June 23, 2022 early as I am going to be driving back to
Irving with Sherry tonight so I can go up to the hospital tomorrow.

Nita is doing a little better at last report.
She's moving in the right direction just a little at a time.
It will be good for me to spend some time closer to her on Friday.

Thinking of you all and saying a prayer for healing. Stress can do a number on a person. Let us cast all our cares on Him and trust Him to lead us on.

Looking at that dry patch of earth reminds me of those chocolate cookies that crack (Chocolate Crackle Cookies...duh). Leave it to me to be reminded of food. That was interesting that bees prefer brackish water.

Praying also that cooler weather comes with some gentle rain.

I need to keep Louis Dean in my prayers now as well as Nita! I am thankful that there is some good news, and will say a prayer of thanks as well. I have heard that heat affects seniors much worse than youger people, so Louis Dean may just be undone by the bad heat. And he works so hard when he is outside. Keep me posted on him!

I’m sorry to hear about your husband feeling ill. I hope good health returns to him soon as well as for your sister. I pray those small steps of improvement will continue.
Sorry about the drought - I know about that living in California.
Take care of yourself as well. Many are depending on you, including animals and of course the bees!

Hope Louis Dean is ok and doing better. The heat can be overwhelming at times. He may have gotten too much. Have a safe trip to see your sister. Hope you all get some rain there soon.

Reading this made me more concerned for LD. It's not like him to spend the day in bed. Maybe as someone said get some Pediolite and elecrtrolites into him. The heat can be awful for us of a certain age.
Glad to hear Nita is making baby steps of improvement and that you will get to see her for yourself.
Prayers for all of you
Sue
