The Spinal Cord Trial for Summer has Begun........

Summer and I were up early and at the surgical center by 9:00.....right on time!

She was in pretty good spirits this morning and so very hopeful this procedure will work for her.

Every single person at the surgical center could not have been nicer!
This photo was right before they took her back and the procedure didn't take but 40 minutes!

In the recovery room, Tony the territory manager of Boston Scientific,  programmed the stimulator and this was fascinating to watch. He would ask Summer when she felt tingling and then when it stopped. Her pain level right after the surgery was almost at an 8 but they gave her some pain meds and that brought it down by half almost immediately.

This is the box that holds the remote control and charger and instructions for the next week.

We left the hospital about 12:30 and picked up a Rx before eating a light lunch at Panera Bread - I LOVE their tea! And just about anything they have there!

Then we came back to Rowlett and both of us went back to bed at 2:00 for good long naps!
I slept 3 hours myself and Summer didn't wake up until 6:30!

I told her I needed to do a journal update so she posed for me and then started belting out a gospel song!

She may need to take this on the road!
People may pay her money NOT to sing!!

And talk about perfect timing - Rayne called and anxiously asked her Mummers how she felt.

I'm so glad I was right there to hear their conversation!
Rayne was so SO happy to hear Mummer's voice and that she was feeling good.

I brought beef stew over yesterday and Sherry made some garlic bread and heated up bowls for the three of us and we had a nice dinner together.

I am so happy everything went as well as it did for Summer today.
God is good and we are so grateful for all the prayers.

She will be calling Tony every day at 1:00 to give a report on the stimulator and how it is working.
As we sat at the dining table this evening, she had NO real pain.
Just a tightening around the surgical site at her lower back.
Praise God for this and I am continuing to pray that this will work in reducing her pain to a level where she can get back to living life.

It's nearly 8:00 now and Louis Dean just called to tell me he feels like an orphan!
I'm going to pack up my laptop and head home!
I've promised to meet him in the gazebo for a glass of wine!

I pray this works well. I've got spine and spinal cord issues which really flared up this year and have now (thankfully) abated. I saw a new and very nice and smart spine specialist and I start physical therapy on Wednesday.

Really hopeful for this thing to work. Summer is a real trouper.
You are really spreading yourself thin, girlfriend, but it seems to suit you to a tee. Poor wittle Louis Dean -- no Linda for a day! 😎
Hope you got home safely!!

Oh Linda...praise God from whom all blessing flow...even Summer's wonderful and powerful solo....PTL.

We are going to continue to pray that this surgical procedure is the final in her complete recovery.

I love the orange scones at Panera Bread and their Forest blend coffee.

Raining here today....a good day to stay in and watch a movie.

So happy that Summer was feeling better especially after that procedure and sure that nice nap was great too! While she may not be ready for the road, it was nice to see and hear her belting out that gospel tune. Hope she keeps on smiling and that the procedure works out well for her.
