Warm and Cozy

We have been tucked away here at home since Thursday afternoon and it looks like we will be staying in for another day or two! We are covered in ICE!!

It's cold outside but warm and cozy INSIDE.
We have the heat on and are eating comfort food -
tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for a winter lunch!

Between meals we sip hot chocolate by the fire and watch movies.

Before the weather event arrived we had roses in full bloom!
They are now encased in ICE!

This is the honeysuckle bush which is usually loaded with birds!
ALL the bushes are frozen so the birds are finding refuge in the grapevines up in our porch.

We have gone out the last two mornings to fill the feeders.

Louis Dean used a mop to dislodge some of the ice on the gazebo.
We don't need that to come crashing down on all the Christmas 'debris' I have out there!
He didn't stay out there long with no coat or gloves!

Our water fountains continue to bubble even if most of the water is frozen.

It's the perfect time to start a jigsaw puzzle!
I used to have one going all the time.

Louis Dean enjoyed watching some football this afternoon while I worked on my projects.

All my rosemary salt and rosemary infused olive oil is packaged and ready for gift giving.
My next project is pillows for the quads to match the quilts I made them for their birthdays.
I made one - for Trystan! Three more to go......

Lucy has not been eager to go outside! She didn't know WHAT to think about the frozen ground!

We only lost power for 10 hours or so. Summer lost theirs Thursday night and it just came on again this morning! All in all we have stayed warm and safe! We have much to be thankful for.
No slipping around on ice for US!

Tonight Louis Dean grilled some steaks and I added baked potatoes and candied carrots for our dinner in front of the fireplace while we watch Doris Day and Frank Sinatra in 'Young at Heart.'
A good way to end this day!

I don't think you could have had a better day. Sounds perfect to me. We had a similar day. It was COLD in So.CA today...of course our cold, would be warm to you HaHa. But it was a homemade soup day for us too. I made a big pot of vegetable beef and pumpernickel Bread.
BTW Thanks so much for the recipe and link for the Rosemary salt and oil. I can't wait to make some for some Christmas gifts. I enjoyed going over and visiting Jane at Blondie. Once again, I love visiting the warmth of you home and the bigness of your heart.

You really have ice frosting on everywhere! On poor huge beautiful roses, too. What a mess.
I am home and already put on more xmas lights. Will send you pics later. :)

i see your cat by the tree, a couple of cat people had told me they can't have trees, but it looks like Lucy doesn't bother all your decorations. hope that ice leaves town soon, but you are so warm and cozy and magical inside, i know you don't mind it to much. i love the Santa Cowboy, maybe next year yous should paint a Sanata cowboy

So glad you are staying in...they say the roads are so dangerous with the ice now.

Sounds as if you know how to crank up the cozy as needed. Thank goodness you are staying in with such treacherous weather. I hope that things moderate soon so that you can get back out again shortly. Wednesday's coming!

Linda, I worried if you lost your power. So glad it's back on. We didn't get the ice that was predicted here, and yesterday most of the snow has melted because we never got as much of that either. You know me, that did not break my heart girl. Just scoot your feet if you have to go's safer. Blessings to all, xoxo,Susie

Texas on ice!
We are in the teens this morning!
It's a good thing The Hawks are playing in San Francisco!
Linda, your home is the coziest, and your bottles of rosemary infused olive oil are the epitome of elegance!
With the Red Ranger's Neil Diamond connection, we have heard a lot of Holly Holy this week. Hmmmm...a good December tune...totally makes me think of you, my sweet "T" friend!
Keep warm!

I wondered if you had lost power-glad it's back on and that is wasn't off for longer. We've been "iced in" here too since Thursday. Been doing much the same as you with comfort food, movies and football! Can't even get down the road to the mailbox. Hoping for a little bit of a thaw today! Stay warm and safe!

Sounds like you're making the most of your situation. I think I'll come over to your house and sit by the cozy fire with you! Glad that you are safe inside. Ice storms can be so unpredictable. It is cold and rainy here today. I'm staying in and painting trim in my son's room. We're finally giving it a well deserved makeover.

I hope things warm up for you soon - so sorry about your roses. It seems you have made the best of the cold though, very cozy, your home.

Linda, your photos are so heartwarming! That jigsaw puzzle...Linda Nelson Stocks is a great artist, it should be fun to do! Sorry to hear about your roses, but you have a great attitude and this helps a lot. I love your new background on your blog, it is lovely!
