Wednesday's Opossum and Thursday...

Yesterday morning as I was pouring my coffee, I chanced to look outside and spied my opossum!
Normally they come out at night but he was checking his food bowl.

Who knew they like spaghetti??
They also like watermelon and apples and any and all kinds of meat and cheese.
Celery and potatoes? Not so much.

Since I don't have chickens or goats to feed my leftovers and scraps to - at least I have a possum or two or three. We think we have three.

Louis Dean and I have been eating up leftovers and sandwiches lately.

Yesterday I made 'new' food.
A jazzed up Suddenly Salad.
I like to keep a bowl of this handy for a quick lunch.

Louis Dean proclaims loud and clear that he 'hates' pasta!
But he eats it.
I made Fettuccine Alfredo with tuna.
He had two helpings.

We like making extra for meals and then eating the leftovers later or the next day.
Plus I have to have something handy for Louis Dean to eat in the middle of the night.
Yes, he's a middle-of-the-night eater.
I'm sure you're not surprised.

These are the treasures I found on Tuesday......

10 great big plates!!
Less than $1 a plate!

This beautiful tablecloth that features hand cross-stitching!
What a lot of work and time that took.
It is so pretty and I am thrilled to give it a loving home.

I have cleared out Christmas from the entire house except the bathroom!
I must get that done tomorrow!!

This may be all that I do in the way of Valentine decorating.
But I shall leave it until middle of March.

I forgot what you call these but I hung it in the guest room and will put a few of the pretty cards I've received lately in it.

When I saw this sheet I knew it would make the perfect backing for a black and white denim quilt I am planning on making my granddaughter, Faith, for Christmas.

Two nice fall throw rugs.....which I will probably use on a table.

I just adore this little top!
With a  camisole underneath - it will be perfect for the heat of summer!

You can't go wrong with a sturdy basket!
This one will hold potatoes and onions.

What an elegant lamp with the shade for just $4.25!

Today I went to Sam's and selected frames and ordered my eyeglasses.
I chose no lines and will get them in a week.
I am so tired of all these glasses.
Reading glasses, walking around glasses, driving glasses and double glasses for when my eyes are really tired. I will be looking forward to wearing just one pair!

A surprise was waiting for me when I got home.

I shared with Louis Dean!

A box of candy from my friend, Dawn, in Florida!
Old fashioned lollipops! And Coconut patties and chocolates!!!
Thank you, Dawn!!
You are as sweet as the candy!

I put them in this basket I got at the Goodwill on Tuesday!

I posted early tonight!
Are you surprised?
I'm going to go over and surprise the quads by spending the night!!
And it's going to be a cold night! 26 degrees!
I think I will take my flannel nightgown!

I didn’t know that about possums eating ticks! Our chickens do that too!

You found a lot of treasure! I found a few things yesterday and I’m going to post them tomorrow!

Have fun with the quads!

I love suckers! i bought three big boxes, because now that Phil has a cold, he needs to suck on them for his throat. I love all your finds!! Especially the beautiful top. The fall leaves throw rugs do not look anything like rugs to me! I think they would look much better on a table somewhere. Really nice sturdy big basket! Your table is beautiful, even the chairs are dressed up in red and white! The possums are the ideal outdoor pets for you! Keeping your entire area insect free.

i love pasta and cold pasta salad. i too like having it in the frog for a quick lunch!!

great finds at good will...i want to mention that i have read that if you store onions and potatoes in the same basket, the onions will case the potatoes to sprout more quickly!! i always use to store then together!!

the tablecloth is beautiful, what a treasure!!

I love pasta cold and hot; Ed says he doesn't like pasta, but he loves spaghetti! Men! With a pasta salad, or chicken or tuna salad, soups -- I'd be happy year round! Tonight I had black-eyed peas and tomato pudding, I fixed him two BBQ sandwiches and baked beans. We were both happy.
I loved your finds. That tablecloth is so pretty, and I think I have a lamp like that. My house is full of baskets for...lots of things. I love them!
I know you had fun with Amber and the quads!
Hugs!

It took me several paragraphs to know where you are...yup, lost my bearings there for a bit. If I had known that about opossums, I would have let the one I trapped stay. Yours are kinda cute; mine looked like Gollum. What a sweet friend to send you a goody box. Louis Dean looks happy about that.

It is colder here too with a high of 23 today and it's very windy. I've been wearing my flannels since October it seems. Hope you had a wonderful time with the quads. I love tuna and noodles so will have to try it out in my fettuccine . Thanks for the suggestion. Love all your bargain finds too. That lamp particularly caught my eye, as I need some new ones here. Goodwill shopping is a must. They are so expensive to buy. You are very lucky your opossums are friendly. I have heard they can get nasty. Especially if they have young ones about. Take care and enjoy your Friday!

cute top and love the new old lamp. until 2 years ago when I went on my food plan, Fettuccine Alfredo with tuna was on our menu at least twice a month.. we both love it. have not had any since then.

We stitchers love to "Save the Stitches" Thank you for giving that beautiful tablecloth a home. Several cross stitchers I know rescue cross stitch pieces from Thrift stores. They hate to see something so lovingly stitched going for a pittance. Those plates are great and that top looks like a Matilda Jane piece. Good finds Linda.

Hi Linda, Loved seeing all your fabulous finds from Goodwill. Was at the
one in Tillamook about a month ago and was so lucky to find a hand painted
Biscotti Jar...one of my favorite things to bake. Earlier this week we had
2 inches of snow on the beach, rather unusual for this area and it remains
very cold. Take care....Phyllis

Hubby is a midnight eater too. Funny how he hates pasta but has 2nd helpings lol. My hubby hates breakfast for supper but when we were sick he enjoyed it, maybe I've converted him. Have fun with the quads

Linda, I loved the baskets. That is one of my favorite things to junk for also. LD looks so darn cute holding out a lollipop for you. :) I can't wait to see Faith's quilt when you finish it. Hey 26 degrees is a two flannel night gown night. LOL. It was pretty here today but blistering cold. I was going to carry wood up from the bin to the box on the porch. Gee, nothing worked right for me. Two sets of clothes, cause yes, it's cold. I pried the wood box open(frozen) I bang the gate to break the frozen place holding it shut. I tried to swing the gate open, the ground had heaved after freezing again, so would not open. The wheelbarrow had blown over and the prop leg had frozen into what was mud at the time, I guess. I carried wood by the arm loads than. I told Ted, I do not mind working, but I hate working my guts out to no avail. Gee. Come on spring. LOL. Stay warm , Blessings to all, love you, xoxo, Susie
