Our Country Weekend.....

The sun has been shining all weekend and we have been enjoying getting outside again.

Saturday the silly geese were honking loudly and trying to be the King of the Mountain!

They are entertaining even though they are really noisy!
The slightest thing stirs them up.
Louis Dean was out there turning the water on.
Nothing gets past them.
I even hear them in the night.
The ducks get put up in the duck pen but I think the geese stay out all night.
They can always fly over to the tank if coyotes come around.
Speaking of coyotes, Louis Dean and I heard them last night as we were sitting in the front room.

The Dallas Cowboys were playing and I was checking the Internet every little while to keep up with the score and my Facebook friends were posting. It was pretty exciting! I was whacking up denim right up until half time when they made a touchdown in the last seconds.

Louis Dean managed to tune in a radio broadcast of the game on our old school camper radio for the second half of the game. We get zero TV reception here and never really miss it except for football.
It was such an exciting game right up to the end when we WON!!
This morning (Sunday) we watched the highlights on a YouTube video. What a game!!

Louis Dean has been busy ever since we got her a week ago on Friday while I have done next to nothing. I have rested more than anything. Nap.Read.Write.Repeat.

It's beautiful here in the country and I have loved every single day - even the cold rainy ones.
This afternoon I decided to shake off the lethargic mood I was in and walk down to the gate.
I could see the horses all down in the field so I took a little bag with me to hold my phone and six chunky carrots.

The horses know when they see me walking with a bag that I have treats for them.

Up close and personal!

Life is so simple here.
For us it is simple.

What a blessing to have the privilege of country life without the work of making it so.
Louis Dean and I talk every day about how wonderful and gracious Dean and Sherry are to us.

I hope to be here every month this year.
Some months we will stay longer than others.
There's already some green grass growing. It won't be long before the spring flowers bloom.
All this rain will make a huge difference.
Last year the drought was already in place and there weren't nearly as many flowers as the year before.

Fire in the sky!

Just a guy and his campfire.

We ate our supper out on the porch where we could watch the flames.
They are mesmerizing.
We watched until the fire had burned down some but the flames were still dancing.
The coyotes were howling and the stars came out.
All is right in our world tonight.

He's so cute!

I took this last photo of him and came inside to write my journal entry.
He's out there still.....
He'll stay until the last ember is out most likely.

I have the radio on and am listening to KRMX......
a country music station licensed to Marlin, Texas which is not far from here.
It says the studio is in Waco and its transmitter is located south of Hewitt, Texas.
We are getting very good reception so I'm going to leave it on this station!

I'm loving these old country songs.
So far I have heard two about Linda!
Now Willie Nelson is singing about blue skies....
Life is good here tonight.
I have so many blessings I can't even count them all.....
but I will be thanking God for as many as I can before going to sleep tonight.

I know! Do you??

It was windy there today! I can hear it on the video, and see it in the blowing fire. I love the picture of Louis Dean and the fire, it is a beautiful picture. What could be better than feeding carrots to horses? That would be so much fun. Gorgeous picture of the honking geese, I think I can hear them in my head. We have many geese here. Several times a day, they fly overhead in a V. And honk the entire time. It is magical.

Bliss! Sounds fantastic! Yes the Cowboys won!! I have been a fan of Texas football since my son attended TCU and U of Texas! However I live in Indy now!! The church was a sea of Colts' jerseys yesterday! I will just cheer silently. I enjoyed cheering for Peyton Mannng but alas he is retired. Enjoy your vacation and hope you have more restful days with your husband.

Such stress-free days on the ranch... It’s nice to have an “over yonder” to bug out for when you grow weary of one place of the other. The horses are so friendly. I have forgotten their names, but I did pay attention to where their ears were pointing...right at you!

Oh my gosh! I DO LOVE WILLIE NELSON!! That campfire looks to me so pretty, there's nothing like being outdoors!! I would love the country life. Color me jealous. (Geese make better watch dogs than dogs)

Oh yes, I do know where over yonder is...but I haven't heard anyone say that in a long time. It's a phrase that brings back some memories for me of long ago. So glad you got some sunshine and are enjoying your days. We've had a few sunny days but most have been rainy but before we'll see any spring flowers, there will be lots of snow here. We have the rest of January, February and March to go before we'll see any flowers.

You love the ranch because there is zero obligation or expectation, really it's like being on holiday and isn't that the best!

I love your simple country life, It always looks so relaxing. As for your Cowboys, congratulations it was an exciting game but also very frustrating as I am a Seahawk fan through and through but your boys deserved to win because we didn't have our game on and now I'm sad that they aren't a contender in the playoff any more haha .
