Friday With Mother.....

It was a 'normal' Friday at long last!!
I NORMALLY go to Fort Worth and pick Mother up at the beauty salon and we go to lunch.
I missed the last two Fridays because I was so sick!

I am all well now and it was so good to see Mother again!
She and I both wore black today. It's amazing how more times than not she and I wear the same colors or similar jeans and shirts! My sister, Deanie, says Mother and I are 'GIRLIE Girls!!'
We both wear make up and jewelry every day.

After we got in the car - which took awhile since she is on a walker - I asked her where she wanted to go for lunch!
She just never gets tired of IHOP!
Their coffee is good and it's such a cozy place to sit and visit.
There was a bit of confusion over what to order! The menu has a lot of colored pictures! There was a pic of the Strawberry Crepes but NOT one of the Strawberry Cheese Blintzes. Mother insisted on the one pictured so I ordered that for her and Blueberry Blintzes for me. Sure enough  - when the food arrived it was the BLINTZES she wanted! So we SHARED!! We ate every single bite!!

Mother was singing Deanie's praises!! Deanie has taken such good care of her and got her walker down and found her cane. Hopefully she won't have to use it for long. Should she need a walker later on and/or long term - the lady who came out of the beauty shop when we did had a GREAT walker! It was an elegant black one with three wheels and hand brakes!

No shopping or stopping at the Dollar Store today! We went straight home after lunch and I sat on the couch and we visited for about an hour.
Mother said, "It's been a GOOD day!!"
And it WAS!!

After I left Mother's I went by Deanie's for a 'catch up' visit! Louis Dean stayed home but if he had known I was going to see Deanie he probably would have gone with me this morning! He LOVES to visit with her and Charlie!! However, he stayed home and took the A/C-Heater window unit out of the den in preparation for installing the NEW one that arrived yesterday. I figure he will go with me next week - he doesn't like to miss out on anything!!

You two are making me hungry for iHop and I'd have to travel 40 miles to get to one! LOL! Glad that you were able to visit again today.

Silly me, but I just love Friday's with your Mom. I must admit, I sorta pretend my Mom was still with us and we were joining you. Linda, it seems out mothers are a lot alike too...hair, makeup, jewelry. No wonder I enjoy your Fridays. Crepes and Blintzes ~ they are confusing. Like 'm both.

you do lead such a fun filled life...my mother would have loved to be with you and your mother, she was a girly girl to. she wore rings, an broaches and earrings and necklaces every day of her life. she never left home without jewelry. she had all her things in foam egg cartons, stacked in 3 drawers in the bedroom. i had no idea how much she had, but she never got rid of anything....she would have loved the IHOP luncheon...

Hi Linda: I have been reading your blog for awhile and am just getting around to commenting. First, I love the quad stories. So fun! Second, I love the mom stories. Reminds me of times with my mom. She liked to dress up and go out to eat as often as possible! My siblings and I all shared in her care just like your family is doing. Lastly, I think you should write a book about Louis Dean! He makes me think of a western Mr. Rogers. He does so many things and seems to be interested and enjoy them all. And the overalls - love them! By the way, my sister lives in Dallas. Is that near you?

Hi Linda, I found you via Wanda's blog. What fun to enjoy special times with your mother. Great photo of you both. I cared for my late mom the last 10 years of her life and we enjoyed every minute together. We always loved IHOP, too! Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Mildred
