Our Beautiful November Weekend!

We have had such a lovely weekend!
We stayed home Friday, Saturday and Sunday leaving only once earlier tonight to run out and pick up milk and drop a stack of Christmas cards at the post office just up the street.

A friend gave us a turkey before Thanksgiving so I put that in to cook Friday night before we went to bed. When I got up, I checked it and the oven was off! I thought I had really messed up but when I opened the oven - it was still warm! I took the lid off the roaster and it had been turned!
I use Deanna's never fail 'recipe' from Creekside Cottage
where she turns the bird breast side DOWN to bake.
Now it was breast side UP and there was a big hunk out of the top!
It was perfectly done and delicious so I knew Louis Dean must have been up early, ate some and went back to bed.

I went on to have my coffee and quiet time and when he got up later that Saturday morning, I teased him saying someone came in during the night and flipped the turkey, ate a hunk out of it and put it back.

He said, "I did NOT do that!!!"
I had no idea he wouldn't remember - but perhaps I should have.
I finally told him that I must have done it and was sleep walking!

***Note to Self***
Don't tease him about that kind of thing again!

I did a little housework, a little cooking - making dressing to go with the turkey, and some Christmas decorating!

I settled down to address Christmas cards and watched Daniel Craig (my very most favorite 007) in Casino Royale......

I'm going to rewatch all his Bond movies in sequence.

So what was Louis Dean doing all Saturday afternoon???

'Peeling' pecans in his music room.

I bought a 5 pound bag of Georgia pecans and I picked up 3 pounds from Brenda's tree the day before Thanksgiving.

He shelled ALL 8 pounds!
And it took him over 4 hours!
He has the patience of Job!

We meant to go to church in person today but Louis Dean was sleeping so well that I didn't want to wake him up so we watched Fellowship Church online.

Nice and cozy in the den with a good fire burning.
It's cold here in Texas - not COLD cold but cold for Texas kind of cold.
As in the 40's.

This was Louis Dean's face when he joined me to watch church - Tabitha was sitting in his chair and didn't show any inclination to give up her seat.

She got the idea he wanted to sit down and moved up to the top of the sofa.

Just a guy and his cats!

I finished the cards from A-C and will now start on the D's.

This was a wonderful movie to watch.

Hope y'all are enjoying the whole 'preparing for Christmas' season.
I'm loving every single aspect of preparation and hope to have the house all dressed up by this time next week.

Oh, I just love Daniel Craig, too! ❤
Since my stroke, my memory isn't as good as it was, and I feel badly when Ed has to repeat something or remind me. But, I can't help it, and he knows that.
All those b pretty pecan Louis Dean did such a handy job on! I know we can look forward to pictures of Christmas cooking soon! Isn't it crazy that soon the end of the year will be here and 2024 will be right behind it!
Ed and Kristi were here for awhile today. You d will be starting his new job tomorrow and Kristi will be house hunting, I expect. They found something to rent until they find a permanent home or build one. It is wonderful having them only an hour away!
Have a good week, friend!

Louis Dean must have had very sore fingers after shelling all those pecans!!

It must be nice for you when the temperatures stay relatively cool so you can enjoy the fireplace. Nothing like being cozy in front of the fire.
Have a good week. No doubt more Christmas decorating will happen. I'm looking forward to seeing it all.

The house is already looking Christmasy!
Poor you...I know it can be hard sometimes. You know they Should remember something because it was so blatant a thing but when they protest...your heart sinks with realization...that they really don't remember.
Sending you a BIGGGG HUGGG today sweet lady...
love to you

Now that our reunion is over, I had Kyle and Tim's help to put up some garlands in the kitchen! I hope to do more today and tomorrow!

I love your cozy home!

My house is looking like Christmas too. My son and his son came to help me with it all. It's not done, but its is looking fine. Glad all worked out with your turkey, no matter the strange happenings, I do love pecans, ut buy them already shelled. I never heard anyone say they were peeling a nut beofore. We all call it shelling a nut. Enjoy the Happiest Season of them all !

You would think he would have remembered doing something that physically complex, but that was quite the reminder of his memory losses. So sorry to hear that. He did such a great job shelling the pecans! Wow! And you are getting ready for the holidays and watching favorite movies...sounds wonderful! Stay warm down there! :)

Aww your sweet hubby..I love him and his delicious attitude. The memory glitches really put an arrow in my heart. Its like the GPS saying "recalculating"..we just have to adjust and move on. LD is a Prince for shelling all of those pecans. Do you call them PEE-CANS or Pe-CONS?? Just curious. We here in California call them PE-CONS most of the time.
Your home looks so cozy and inviting.

Oh my! Maybe it was a "mouse in the house" that likes turkey...Bless his heart...I bet he enjoyed that hunk of turkey while it was nice and hot and fresh! Sounds good to me too. (((hugs))) to you. But look at all those pecans he shelled for you! Now that is something amazing!! That takes a lot of patience and tough fingers! Your home looks so warm and cozy and welcoming for Christmas. Thank you for sharing your weekend with us. Peace on earth, good will toward men. Amen.

I love reading all the comments. Isn't it wonderful to have these great blog friends. They are so special.

Yes, a new season of life for you and your dear Louis Dean. I'm learning to "embrance" my season with my dearest, and only our Heavenly Father knows the date of our departure. I'm glad...cause it would not handle life very well if I knew.

So you are so special to make every day a good one for Louis Dean. Your house is looking so good...and I know there is more coming.

Hugs and Kisses to both of you,

I don’t have to do much in this little condo. Had a grand in hospital over Thanksgiving so that did not happen. No baking here. We do a light low key meal at Christmas with vegan yummmmm dessert from bakery. Love it. Just all fun. Prayers my friend.
