January Lunch With Brenda!

Louis Dean and I have been busy with our projects around here.
We are never bored because there's always so much to do.

This is what Louis Dean did Thursday!
He even made a special trip to Home Depot for cans of our favorite brown spray paint.
We have used dozens of cans of this color over the years.

He hung the bird house near the feeder.
Next up will be to go to the feed store and buy a 25 pound bag of fresh bird seed!

I stayed busy cleaning and pulling down decorations, packing them in tubs and storing them.
This is the first year I am doing it myself - the storing of them. If I put them in the building, I will be more able to find them come next Christmas, because I will better remember where I put them!

Our healthy dinner!!
Fresh sweet potatoes, baked fish and mixed veggies.
He had his with a cheese sauce and I had mine plain.

By day's end we had accomplished a lot.
I had cleaned up another room after emptying it of Christmas.
And I had gone to Walgreens to get our prescriptions and filled four weeks of medicine boxes for each of us. PLUS, I shopped Aldi's for things I needed to fix lunch today.

Tuna salad was on the menu and I made a big one using three cans!
The kitties had a good time cleaning up the lids and all!!

Tuna salad, garden salad and fruit salad along with a charcuterie bowl.

We drizzled some Raspberry vinegar and blood orange infused olive oil over our fruit salad and it was delicious!

Brenda and I have been having monthly lunches together for over 10 years.
We seldom miss our lunch date!

We need friends.....and it's important to maintain friendships.
So often, life gets busy and you forget to plan and get together and then .....friendships start to fade away. That's something I do not want to happen and - even with a year of Covid - Brenda and I haven't missed many lunches. I don't think we even missed one month!
I'm really looking forward to when she retires!
Our hour goes by WAY too fast!!

This afternoon Louis Dean got out to check out our turbo vent on top of the house.
It's been making a racket for days now.

A branch fell on the vent and it was an easy fix for him - once he got up there.
I made him wait until I was out there so I could hold the ladder. Coming down is harder than going up!

Tonight I worked in the den taking Christmas down.
It's my last room - other than the gazebo!

And I think Tabitha has truly enjoyed all the lights and decorations.

Samantha likes the furry blanket and she's going to be so happy when I spread it out on the leather couch tomorrow. Warms it up and makes a nice spot to watch TV when it's cold.
And it has been cold today! With a really cold wind!!

It's Friday night and we didn't do anything special.
But then, there's something rather special about an ordinary Friday night.

The wind was awful today, wasn't it! Your kittens are so sweet-our cat Dusty used to come running when I opened a can of tuna!

You both do indeed stay busy and get lots done. Happy you can have your lunch with Brenda, friends do make a difference. The bird house is sweet and loved the kittens licking the lids and cans.

Oh I am tired just reading albout all that you and LD accomplished. The cold weather tends to make me want to hibernate. I will be glad when it warms back up a bit.

Linda, I am happy you had your lunch with Brenda. You sure made a nice meal. Yikes..LD on the roof. Glad you held the ladder, that's scary for older people to climb. Your saying about the ordinary days is so true. We have all been missing those, this past crazy year. Stay strong and safe. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

You people are crazy busy! I think it is what is keeping you young. Loved the kitty pictures. I'd be tempted to fret over them missing the lights and decorations except I know there are many diversions for them at your house. Glad that you and Brenda kept your lunch date. 💕

You are so lucky to still be able to get together with your friends, My visits seem to be only on the phone these days. My friends are staying home and keeping safe and don't want to visit. We used to do a monthly get together and lunch. Your undecorrating is far beyond my mine, it's a slow go here this year. Take care and keep safe !

Hi Linda :)) Your food looks so delicious! I'm longing for a good homegrown salad! In fact, you just jogged my mind a bit, I'm going to do my seed order before they're all sold out again! :) Lovely bird house!!! And the cats are so cute. Ours go nuts for tuna water!

I truly love "Ordinary" days too.
I have to say that we have a whole lot of ordinary days now with COVID.
I am happy that we get out a bit though.
Today we are going to a friend's house to help him pick the last of his Myer Lemons. Hard on the hands but yummy in the tummy.
I still do my Elder care for my friend too. It sounds funny since she is only 3 years older than me but Alzheimer's makes up for that...hard but I'm glad I can do it too.
I love how your days go and how busy you keep yourselves.
We have been selling on Ebay so that takes up soooo much of our time. Its a process of picture taking , research, putting things up on the site, and then packing the stuff for shipping...money in the pocket does make it better though.
Enjoy your weekend
Sue

Loved these last two posts Linda and catching up with you and Louis Dean and what all y'all have been up to! Love seeing those precious kitties playing and romping amid all the sparkly and fun Christmas decorations, they sure had fun didn't they? They are such sweet kitties, so glad you got them! Glad you got to leave things for Lilian, sure hope she got them! Hope y'all have a real nice Sunday and ps, how do you keep the kitties from cutting their little tongues while licking out the tuna cans? I was always afraid mine would cut themselves on a sharp edge. I saw on tv some fancy new can openers that somehow remove the sharp edges though? Maybe I will look into that. Hugs!

We have been de-Christmased for a whole week as we waited until a couple weeks into the new year and already we miss the lights from the tree. it's much more fun to put up than take down. Nice to see the feeder and bird house and he kitties may be well entertained once the birds come around. Good point on holding the ladder for LD. Quiet any evenings works good for us because every day is like Friday when you're retired!

The thing I've missed most is time with friends! I'm glad you and Brenda are able to get together every month. That's special.

I finally got all of my Christmas down, too. Now I have to figure out the space where the tree was. I had moved a book case from there and wasn't sure I wanted to bring that back into that space, but I probably will.

Enjoy the ranch! I'm so glad you have that wonderful place to go to!
