A Good Day in Galveston....

Louis Dean stayed out on the balcony until last night turned into the wee hours of this morning.
He said it was all he could do not to wake me up to join him because it was so beautiful.

That accounts for him sleeping so late.
I took his place out here while he slept in.

It was a beautiful day here in Galveston.

In the early afternoon, we walked across the street and down the stairs from Seawall Blvd to the beach.

He has never been as interested in shell seeking as he was today.
There's a beautiful display in the hotel lobby featuring sand and shells and he is gathering some for us to make our own.

Not many people out so we had the beach pretty much to ourselves.

The wind was really picking up!
I made this video and sent it to Amber, who loves all things 'Beach!'

We didn't take our chairs down so we rested on the steps before climbing back up to the street.

Looking handsome!

Louis Dean was pretty tired after all that walking and stooping over to pick up shells.

We came in and had cups of hot coffee in the lobby to warm up.
It's nice to just go with the flow and not have a big agenda.

We did a little browsing in shops this afternoon and I bought three books, one of which is a Sue Grafton novel I missed. K is for Killer. She wrote a whole series of books starting with A and went all the way through Y. Sadly she passed away before she made it to  Z.

We finished our afternoon with a late lunch or early dinner at the Gumbo Diner.
My friend Debbie recommended this place from their last visit down here and it was good!

Louis Dean had a craving for onion rings!
I helped him by eating two!

I stuck with a healthy salad.
Saving my calories for Mexican food and a margarita tomorrow night at Tortuga!
However, we are going back to the Gumbo Diner in the morning for Beignets and coffee!
I haven't had those since we were in New Orleans four or five years ago.

We have spent the evening right here in our room.

Louis Dean played all the way through two of his big notebooks full of his music.
First he finds a song and types it up noting the key it's in and adding the chord notations.
He has filled nearly a dozen big notebooks full of songs, each one in a sheet protector and usually a couple of copies for when he plays with another muscian.

While he played, I was so relaxed I crawled right into bed and slept for a couple of hours.
It's been a very relaxing day.

I took this picture right before my nap.

We had TV on for a little while so Louis Dean could watch a ball game while I was writing tonight's journal entry. He got the biggest laugh in a commercial!

He said, "Hey, Linda! They now make a Budweiser beer with no alcohol or sugar!
I bet that's delicious! That Bud is NOT for me - you can count on it!!"

Now that's just funny!!

Hmmm, no sugar and no alchohol. That means it is NOT beer! Louis Dean looks so happy! And I hope you will show us what you make with the shells. That wind is BAD! Your sky picture is gorgeous, and you two should really do this more often. When there is less wind...

Why not just plain water, then! :)
SO glad you two are having a peachy beachy time, my friend!

That reminds me of the time a friend told me that our wine and spirits store started carrying a brand of wine without alcohol.
I went to check it out. It was a little pricy at $23, but I bought a bottle.
You know what non alcoholic wine is?
Grape juice, at $23 a bottle!

Louis Dean is a wise man!

Might as well drink weak iced tea.

Love being at the beach! Any day of the week.

Oh I love the beach! I usually do not get into picking up shells but if I start, I can’t stop. Some times I chose a type of shell and make it a scavenger hunt to see how many I can find. I usually throw them all back to the sand at the end of the day.

Beer with no alcohol or sugar? I guess its for the kids to play with.
I do not like the taste of beer. I am more of a wine drinker and yes I’ll have a Margarita with you any time.

in the past when we had dog sitters, we went to Ormond Beach and got a room that the door stepped out on the pool deck and steps down on the beach. we spent every hour on the beach or sitting by the pool, except when we were sleeping. of course we were younger. the last time we were there, in OUR room, was Oct 2005. we got Jake and had 3 dogs and son moved to tn, no dog sitter.
we went the last week of may and 3rd week of Oct for years. beaching it is my favorite place to go.... tell LD the sun and your lens love him. he is indeed handsome sitting in that sunshine. i love the one of him holding the camera.

Sounds like you had a lovely time in Galveston. What a great getaway. Not sure what good beer with no sugar or alcohol would be...I don't drink at all, but that it seems like beer with none of the "good stuff" people drink beer for wouldn't be much fun. ;-) Hope you continue to enjoy your trip. Have a good weekend.

Now that's what a vacation is all about..no agenda, eating, sleeping, just doing what ever comes next.
Raining here today so it's wonderful to see the sunny beach and LD's delightful face on my screen.
Beer??? That's not beer...it's just colored water!!

Wonderful photos! I love visiting the beach and hearing the waves and looking for shells--good seafood is a plus! I'm glad you had a wonderful getaway, Linda.

Don't want to be controversial but we like Heineken 00 - alcohol removed - it tastes just like beer but doesn't make my cheeks go red! Perfect for summer afternoons - just saying don't knock it until you've tried it... Cheers

Linda, So happy you and LD had a fun get away. You both deserve it. It's time to be relaxed and no ding dang work LD. LOL. Oh yes, that's fake beer for people who want to look like they are drinking...just nuts. Once I worked with a girl who was veggan...she was eating a veggie hot-dog for lunch. She asked me what I thought. I said, "I think you really want a hot dog if you are willing to eat a veggie dog..yuck. Honestly it was the pale washed out color that make me not want to have one for lunch. LOL. I pray you and LD have the best time and get some real rest. Be safe. Blessings to you both, love you, xoxo, Susie

I'm with Louis Dean on my fondness for onion rings and every time we go to a place where they are on the menu, I just have to order them. Grenville usually is there to "help" too.
