Haircut, Video Chat and a Special Delivery!

I thought the honeysuckle smelled good yesterday!

It was blooming like crazy today!
I set my coffee down ths morning and went over to inhale that amazing fragrance -
and thought twice about doing that! The bees were buzzing all over the place.
Trust me when I tell you that it is totally possible to suck up an insect when you are sniffing a flower!
Been there. Done that. Not doing it again.

I put dinner in the crock pot and it sure made the house smell good.

How could it not with a can of Rotel tomatoes?

I made pepper poppers later in the day.

Instead of wrapping them in bacon, I mixed cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar and a small package of real bacon bits. I love these things!

I wrapped the chicken mixture in flour tortillas and had rice and beans to round out the meal.
Brenda brought half of a huge cherry pie so that was dessert - except Louis Dean found the pie and ate a huge piece while dinner was still cooking! I had to dish out some of the pie and put it in the freezer under some other things just to protect him from himelf!

Before I settled down to my sewing today, I did some house painting.

For years - YEARS - the window frames here on the sewing room were peeling and ratty looking.
I scraped and put a coat of Kiltz on them yesterday and this morning I painted them.
Then, since I had brush in hand, I went around the corner and painted the small section of the house to the right of the sewing room French doors. I cleaned my brush and fixed a glass of tea and sat down to read a few chapters of Mercy Snow. I do so love a good book. One that makes you want to hurry up and do what needs to be done so you can go back to reading.

Then I went back to sewing face masks.
If I was wondering if anyone would really wear them......

I wonder no more.
This is Billy. Brenda's Billy. We went on the Alaskan cruise with them.
Billy is retired and now working at Kroger's and he posted this pic on Facebook.
This gave me extra encouragement to keep sewing.
When Brenda brought that pie over, she also brought some headbands made like the pony tail bands and a nice denim shirt I can use to make more masks.

But for now I am done!
Bags are lined up on my front porch bench waiting to be picked up.
My siblings and Summer received theirs in the mail today and I gave Amber the others I had made for her family.
Taking the next few days off to clean the den and decorate for spring and summer.
And paint the rest of the outside walls of the sewing room.

I am loving these video chats!
These are our funny faces......

And there's that beautiful Logan!

Louis Dean and I were out in the gazebo taking a tea break when she called.
I turned the camera on him and he said CHEESE!
Probably because he was eating cheese and crackers.

It was time for a hair cut!
I love this picture of him.
He is the cutest 83 year old guy I know!

I mowed his eyebrows and cut his hair.
He does clean up well and he was off to soak in the tub!

We had a SPECIAL delivery this evening!
Amber and Trystan brought us a heavy bag chock full of good things and 6 rolls of paper towels!

These cookies will be perfect with my coffee in the morning and my coffee will be the better for the creamers she brought!

I wish you could smell this candle!
I am going to light it in the morning in honor of Good Friday.

A cute tin to hold my needles in.....

and a herb for my garden.....one I have never grown before.

I'm going to plant it in this pot Amber brought.

It is self watering!
How cool is that??
In the bag was also some good baking potatoes, blueberries, strawberries and a rotisserie chicken,
a zucchini and some yellow squash.
It was just the splash of joy we needed.
Granddad and I both looked long at their pretty faces and I told Trystan when this virus thing is all over and we can hug each other, she might just as well take a deep breath and know she's going to get the longest hug she's ever had. I want to touch her cute little toes and hold her hand and pinch her cheeks and stroke her forhead. I want to pat her on the head and hug her neck.
But it was enough that today I got to see her with my own eyeballs and hear her voice.
And I got to talk to my daughter and see her sweet face and those dimples.

Staying connected means a lot to all of us these days.

I hope you know I am praying for all of you and you mean so much to me.

I declare you are the busiest lady I know! Your knee surgery must have been A1, 'cause you have been just motoring on since you healed.
That chicken sounded so good. I've been hoping to get a rotisserie chicken as well, but they're always out. 😩 Ed never gets there early enough, I guess. I'll just get one and roast it myself-- if we can find one
Your masks are so good, and may save lives down this crazy road we're on right now!
Happy Easter Linda and Louis Dean! God bless you!

This isolation has made your family stronger than ever! You are a good hair cutter. But I think I like Louis Dean better with the long wavy hair! I grew up in the 60's, so am still a bit of a hippie at heart. What wonderful things amber brought you!

Your sewing tin is egg shaped for Easter. I love painting ... anything. If only I was nearby...staying 6 feet apart, you and I could have a paint jamboree ... and fun to boot. Love your dinner (and perfect side dishes served).

So many good things all in one day! You are blessed and that is a cute pic of Louis Dean. He looks just a tad ornery in it. :) Thanks for the chicken recipe. It sounds yummy! Wishing you a blessed Good Friday and Easter.

I always look forward to your postings. They always fill my out with joy! The first few times I came upon your blog you were talking about stopping at the El Conquistador on your way to the way. My DIL's family is from the Waco area and they eat there every Friday night (before COVID-19. We hosted our son's rehearsal dinner there.

You are encouragement and a delight. Stay healthy and stay strong.

Blessed Easter to you and Louis Dean.

I like "getting out" online to see what others are up to as these long days drift by. Linda, those Biscoff cookies are my favorites. If you have never tried the Biscoff butter....try it. You can find it in the peanut butter aisle. I have to run by it or I will toss a jar in my buggy!! It is great to spread on the cookies or just eat a spoonful right out of the jar.lol I am making a big meal tomorrow and we will have left overs for Easter dinner. Amelia and Todd will come by to get a plate. Tell LD that you would have to hide a pie from me as well. Cherry is not my cup of tea but oh Apple Pie. Can you tell I love sweets?

Louis Dean is one lucky fellow with that hair cut. I desperately need one but after this, I'm gonna hug my hair dresser for sure. Seeing any one in person is a very big deal these days ever though we cannot hug them. I know what you mean. So glad you got your eye candy for the day!The gifts were pretty awesome and thoughtful too. Knowing that your masks are being used makes it worthwhile work for sure.
Take care and have a fantastic Friday!

I don't see how LD is the cutest 83 year old since Bob is the cutest 83 year old. ha ha.... we could say LD is the cutest without a beard and bob is the cutest with a beard.
I copied the crock pot and will see if there are any of the ingreients on the shelves Tuesday at wm.
the masked guy is almost as cute as our two 83 year olds

Linda, you mean so much to me.
I am fairly new to your blog Journal but your genuine attitude and love for LD and the entire family (and those that are like family) just make my day.
I eagerly come here to find out what amazing things you have tackled.
Keep sharing and loving.
Be Safe, Be Well, and you are always Kind...
P.S.
I had to laugh at you hiding the pie under things in the freezer...Sometimes we have to use serious measures for our own "protection"

Good Afternoon Linda: Wish I could smell your flowers, but I'll pass on the bees. I have to agree, Your Louis Dean is adorable and looks at lease 10 years younger than his age. Nice haircut.
I spent the morning deep cleaning again. Mopped all the floors and vacuumed, sanitized and then this afternoon, took in too good movies. The Natural, and Rudy.
We decided on cream of wheat for dinner...easy peasy, as you would say. Your food looked so tasty. Love crock pot dinners.
