Just About READY!!!

Louis Dean and I stayed up later than we meant to last night. Thunderstorms had rolled in and we sat and listened to the thunder and the rain. It made for good sleeping weather. I even turned off the 'ocean' sound machine and enjoyed the REAL sounds of nature. We slept soundly.

I wake up and check the weather on my phone first thing. Summer had driven to Missouri and I was concerned about the ice that was in the forecast. While still in bed,  I picked up my iPad.
I don't know how to do much other on it other than Facebook, email and two games.

I clicked on Photo Booth and took THIS!
Can you even tell what it is?

I can't show my whole face because without make up I am pretty colorless.
When I was dating Louis Dean, my son (Benjamin) told me, "MOM! It isn't FAIR for you to marry Louis Dean unless he has seen you without your MAKE UP!!" Louis Dean saw me and thank goodness he married me anyway!!

Did I mention I slept LATE this morning?
My last morning to do so! The REAL world awaits.
Breakfast was actually served at noon!
Louis Dean's blood work came back and if his blood sugar doesn't come down he will be on medicine for his diabetes at his next 3 month check up. He was diagnosed with this back in 2009 when he had a heart attack.
So far he has done well without medication. That may change.

I love the sound my candle makes!!!

I worked on bills, budgets and accounting for a good while today and am all ready to go into 2015!
I decided to put clothes on - other than nightgowns - and step OUT of the house this afternoon!

Lucy and I went for a long walk.

Some of the trees still hold their beautiful fall foliage!

I love cactus. Not that I want any for myself! This is in the corner of a neighbor's yard. She has a corner lot so I am certain it's there for a reason.

It was chilly and I had bundled up like it was COLD!

When we got home I took OFF the warm sweater and jeans and put on my comfy grungiest clothes!

Propped my feet up and read a few chapters in my book!
I stayed out there until it was too dark to read anymore.

Tonight we had another Soup Supper!!
I had been simmering some stew meat all afternoon and added veggies from the fridge, freezer and pantry before I left on my walk. When I got back I dumped last night's chili in there along with a can of Rotel tomatoes. Now THAT'S a hearty SOUP!!!

Football has been on all afternoon so I think I will settle down and finish the night off watching it with Louis Dean.
I have already picked out my clothes to wear to church in the morning. I was reminded of how I would lay out my children's clothes the night before - complete with shoes and socks and hair bows - when they were young.
Old habits, I guess.

I close with this photo my sister, Nita, sent me from Thanksgiving.
This is my youngest son, Ben. He has been a hard worker all his life. He mowed yards in the neighborhood from the time he was 12 years old.
I am so proud of ALL my children!

Deanie, Leah and Summer - from Thanksgiving

I am ready to pick up the threads of my Life and start weaving them again.......into the days and weeks and months of 2015.

Ready, Set, GO!

It was nice listening to the thunder and rain, wasn't it! We braved the ice and drove home from Midland yesterday. Enjoy your Sunday!

You sound like you're feeling better & is that excitement for 2015 I'm reading between the lines? I love it when you're excited & on the move.

i love how it ends! Reading this is like reading a very good story, and it has an upbeat ending! I can't believe your trees are still so beautiful! I like this feature on the iPad and I have some cool pictures with it.It is so much fun to play with Photo Booth. So Louis Dean has type 2? When I was pre- diabetic, all I gave up was potatoes. And it drove my blood work down 30 points!! Potatoes are worse for you than outright sugar because that have to convert to carbs in your system. I don't know if this would work for others but it may be worth a try if he eats lots of them.

I love your newsy posts! It sounds like you had a lovely day...going for a brief walk always revives me if I've indulged in a little late sleeping or lounging. And how I envy you getting to sit outside and read like that. We are wet and cold here. Oh well, such is life in the Midwest.

I hope LD does well with his eating...I have high cholesterol, and I really need to cut down on the fats. Actually, I need to cut down on everything! lol!

I didn't know (or remember) you had a son. He is SO handsome!

Love to you,

Jane x

Linda, the photo of you and Ben is lovely, he is a handsome man. I love thunderstorms and agree that the sounds of real nature is the best for sleep, but I am glad that when that is not available there are CDs and machines that play sounds of thunder storms, rain, the ocean, birds singing, crickets, etc.

I'm glad you have had a couple of days to just rest. I wish it were warm enough for me to sit outside and read. It was in the 30s and raining all day today. Tomorrow it's supposed to go into the 60s and then drop down to the 20s for the rest of the week.

I had vegetable soup for dinner too. The perfect thing for a rainy day.

Joe also has type 2 diabetes. He had to take medication for a time, but it got so much better that he now controls it with diet. Hope the same for LD.

It doesn't look cold there Linda, but then again I'm comparing it to the nasty weather here. I was out shopping this afternoon and it was about -30 with the wind chill. I walked pretty quick from the store to my car, thank goodness for remote start!

I love the photo of you and your son, he is a handsome man! Sounds like a wonderful day for you, nice and relaxing once again and good for you! Supper also sounds like it was delicious, soup here as well which I made yesterday.

Have a wonderful time at church and enjoy your Sunday!

What a wonderful care free day. Don usually takes Molly for her walks morning and evening, but today, I felt like I need to walk too so we both enjoyed walking and chatting while Molly investigated EVERY tree. Monday I will begin my January cleaning _ ONE ROOM at a time from top to bottom.

Always love to see pictures of your family.

I love that photo of the soup supper with Cafe in it... and if i am home i am in either a summer gown or a winter gown... barefoot of socks depending on the weather... no bra ever while at home... i have often wondered if the men who marry movie stars see them without makeup before they marry. Julia Roberts i just love, but without makeup she is one plain jane...

Linda, The sound of rain is good for sleeping. I hope your Summer girl is home safe. The weather is a mess all over the U.S. We lucked out not getting ice yesterday morning...but it's suppose to get nasty as the days goes along. The wind is pretty fierce already. I can hear the flag pole rope slapped the pole. Stay warm and safe. Soup s a good meal in cold weather. Bless you and LD. xoxo,Susie
