A Chili Day in Texas!

A short and sweet journal entry for this second day of 2015.
I feel like I have been running a marathon the last few months and I have finally just STOPPED the world and GOT OFF for a few days!

I was in no hurry to get up this morning since Mother's hair appointment was cancelled due to the bad weather. Cold and rainy and Mother thought it best not to get out in it! Worked for me so I rolled over and went back to sleep. When I finally woke up around 10:00, I STILL didn't get up but read a little and played Scrabble and Words With Friends on my iPad.

Louis Dean and I spent a good part of the day in the den by the fireplace watching old TV shows!
As in REALLY old!! Quincy, Maverick, Gunsmoke......you get the idea.

Since it was such a chilly day - I made CHILI!!

Once again, we ate by the fire.

Between the fireplace and our comfy blankets, we have stayed warm and toasty.
I thought several times today about taking Lucy for a walk. Instead I just let her outside and she came right back in after she had done her business!

I love candles and burn them all year long. This one is a Nature's Wick Candle Summer gave me and I love the sound it makes while burning. It's kind of like a mini fireplace!
I have it on my side of the bed. With the candle burning and the back door cracked a bit to let in a little of the cold air - it is just THE perfect setting for propping up on the pillows and pulling the covers up and reading. Naturally the heated blanket is set on HIGH!

I love these deep pocket flannel sheets so I washed them and put them right back on today!
It's time to shower and put on a fresh flannel nightgown and think about going to bed.
With flannel sheets and a flannel nightgown - sometimes I stick like Velcro when I try to turn over!!

Life will start again soon. Perhaps I can get one more day of rest before it does!!

You have been constantly busy lately and your body knows it. A day or two of rest is just what you need to recharge your batteries! I am sitting on the couch under a throw with my laptop, and it is cold outside! Nevertheless, I managed to travel to three different cities today! And you know what that means, also visited the three Goodwills in each city. They were a madhouse and most shelves were empty! Don't know why. But I did manage to get some pretty clothes and trays.

Even you need some rest from time to time. This yucky weather is a good time to do just that.

So glad to hear you are getting in some cozy down time during the unpleasant weather. We all need to refresh our bodies as well as our souls from time to time.

Oh I'm believing that you get another perfect day like today tomorrow. I might not be able to handle the old tv shows, but John could and I could just play on the iPad. Enjoy those cooler temps...hope they moderate soon, though. The chili looks yummy!

What a warm and cozy day. Love that you were able to stay in bed, by the fireplace and enjoy Texas Chili. I work up early and my cold is finally behind me so did laundry, mailed a package to our daughter in OR for her Birthday, grocery shopped..(Old Mother Hubbard's cupboards were BARE) . Hope you are feeling really rested by tomorrow.

Sounds like a good day to me. I have been doing a lot of resting here for sure. Not that I have a choice. Chili sounds good. I usually make a different soup each week in the winter. Rest as much as you can. Happy New Year.

Linda, your mother is a wise lady to have not gone out in that weather, and I love the photos of the time you spent, it makes me feel like I was right there. :)

Linda, You have earned a few days of total rest...you and LD , both. You go and do for all your families. They all know you need time for yourselves. Take care of your health. I am about to the point of not wanting out in the public with all the nasty flus....that seem to turn to pneumonia. I am praying for you , LD, and your families. Blessings to all, xoxo,Susie

Linda your place looks so comfy cozy, I'd never want to get out of my PJs living in a place like this! Good for you to take a break, we all need it from time to time and I'm thinking one of these fine days I might do the same before I head back to uni.

Wishing you and LD a blessed and Happy New Year!

Good for you! I've had no desire to be out and about in this weather and it feels good to be lazy. I tell you, with flannel sheets, nightgowns and electric blanket I'd be roasted! :) I have to have the room cold to sleep but can't deal with much heat on the bed. Aren't we all funny re: the way we like to sleep?

Wishing you the happiest New Year ever!
