Spending Time.....Making Memories

This summer has been chock full of opportunities to 'Make some memories!' I have been thinking about TIME. It takes TIME to make these memories. The most precious gift we have is the gift of TIME. No one knows how MUCH time one has.......and the only moment you can spend is the one you have right now. I find the older I get the more careful I have become of where I 'spend' this treasure. Once upon a time I found myself doing a great many things I did NOT enjoy! I did these things simply because others asked me to join them or requested my presence. There are scores of RESPONSIBILITIES one has to do - whether you feel like it or not! I am speaking of the way we spend our 'Free' time.....which is not FREE at all!! It is priceless and once spent you can never have it back! EXCEPT in recalling the memories you made with it!

So......this is how I have been 'spending' my TIME!

Louis Dean and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary!
We met and married in our 'senior' years and I am grateful for the TIME we have had together!
And the times yet to be!

We traveled to Houston to see my daughter......

......and her handsome husband! I am so blessed with such a wonderful son in law!

Snowball is Amber's 14 year old cat........my memories with her go way back!

We enjoyed Snowball SO much we decided to get our OWN white cat!
Miss Maggie! A very young SIX years old so she will be around awhile!

I spent some time with my Grand dogs!!
Shiner and Jersey!
Such well trained and well behaved dogs!

I MUST include my own dear dog, Lucy!
Who could NOT love those soul full eyes??

This week I had the blessing of spending time with BOTH of my daughters!!

We had so much fun!! When you have raised children it should come as no surprise when we are compatible! Each of us is very different in some areas......but SO much alike in others!
I must say I enjoy the comfortable camaraderie we have going for us!
My girls are easy to be with......probably because we like and respect as well as love each other.

This is the youngest granddaughter! She may not REMEMBER this first birthday but there are plenty of pics!
It was well documented!!

We all enjoyed MiMi Camp 2011 with the 3 oldest grandchildren!

Today I made a memory I will treasure forever!
I have not always had the best ideas for birthday/Christmas gifts...
the ones that would knock the kids socks off would wipe out my budget!
And the ones I THINK they will like are not as successful as I hoped!
THIS time I hit the jack pot!!

Faith LOVED using my camera and took pictures all through MiMi Camp!
165 in one evening!
I LOVE digital!

I gave her a camera for her birthday and she LOVED it!!
It is NOT expensive and it will not matter a great deal if it last months instead of years!
It IS her very own FIRST camera!!
I was so proud to give it to her!!

I double scored with a two piece swim suit......
they have a pool and of course her birthday party will be a POOL party!!
It was a little big but a neighbor allowed me to use her sewing machine so Faith is good to go in her NEW swim suit tomorrow. She was actually wearing it already this afternoon!!

A 'Memory Post' would not be complete without my charming Mother!
She loves Red Lobster's clam chowder and Cheddar biscuits!
(Don't we ALL?)
Fridays are special because I get to see her. She is in her late 80's and a lot of fun!
We laugh every day together on the phone!

I am looking ahead to some more friend and family gatherings this month and next which will only ADD to the collection of good times! I actually have a good friend coming over tomorrow!
We have a lot of 'catching up' to do!
We all have so much to be thankful for and I count myself blessed beyond measure!

"Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you."

Carl Sandburg

US biographer & poet (1878 - 1967)

You are so right, Linda! Time is precious and we all need to be spending it wisely. I've learned this year that life can change in a minute and the only things that matter aren't (as they say) things.

Good to see a post here, my Dear. I was wondering where you had "toddled off" to. -giggles-

But I see you had gone forth with Wisdom! Spending your time, mindfully. And what a lesson for us all! Thank you!

That special-Birthday-gift pic of Faith, holding her hand over her mouth in total amazement, is sooooooo precious!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep spending your time, mindfully. Doing what you choose to do, with those you choose to do it. Let us all take heed and try to do the same.

Happy 4th of July Weekend wishes to you and to yours!
