Making a little Trash! TEXAS Trash, that is!!

Texas Trash is kind of a glorified Chex Mix! My mother used to make this every Christmas filling a huge brand new trash can (WITH the big black trash bag liner!) completely FULL!!!
It just dawned on me that is why we call it TEXAS TRASH!!
My kids absolutely LOVED it and now that Mother can no longer make it I do!
It is not as good as Mother made.
But it is SALTY!!! My kids and I LOVE salt!
This time I added garlic...... the fried garlic granules we get at the Asian market.

You mix butter (I used a whole POUND!) Worcestershire sauce (a whole bottle!) and SALT!
Lawry's Seasoning salt is what Mother always used. A lot of it! Melt all that in the microwave - pour it over the mix of Chex cereals, pretzels and peanuts - and toss to coat!
Bake in a slow oven til crispy and dry......turning it over with a spatula from time to time.

Dump it all out on newspaper layers covered with a clean towel.
Sprinkle with an extra dose of the seasoning salt.

Scoop it up and store in tins.
Delicious!

Now I am going to get busy and wrap a few tins up for mailing.
Benjamin and Amber......watch for yours to arrive soon!
Summer, your tin is sitting by the door so I won't forget to give it to you when you come over.
Jesse, I am bringing a tin with me when I come over this afternoon.
Nothing like a cold Coca-Cola and some TEXAS Trash!

You mean Lawry's, yes? There is truly nothing better than a cold Coke and Texas Trash, I agree. Diet Coke would be preferred, but I will have to settle for regular Coke! Excited to watch the mail for my share!! Thank you mom!!!

Oh wow, that sounds delicious!

I couldn't eat the wheat Chex but I use Corn and Rice Chex.

I'd be afraid to use butter, because of the Sat Fat. (and heart) But I really make some good things, with a butter substitute, as it were. :-)

Texas Trash! Yummmmmmmmmmm!

Hi Linda!
Love the new look of your blog!
And... you know how I love anything Texas! I'll give the mix a try.
I am watching your weather as I am writing. Such heat! Take care!

My Aunt Gee always makes this at Christmas and we wait eagerly for our tin to arrive. What fun to make it in a big old trash bag!

Love the name! I make it at Christmas...and before we go camping. We call it 'Nuts & Bolts' out here. I think it's time to whip up another batch!
