The Pond...

Louis Dean has spent a full day cleaning out ponds. This one is outside our kitchen and was , in Louis Dean's own words, FILTHY dirty! He not only drained it of water and debris but gathered all the gravel and cleaned that as well. He had pot two koi fish in it back in the fall....and lo and behold! He 'fished' them out alive and well as he neared emptying the bottom of the pond. What a surprise! He thought they had died long ago!

As you can see, the water is crystal clear and beautiful...now!

I am potting up some of my marigolds that are coming up in the front beds as well as some MINT that is coming up everywhere to give this area a splash of color and fragrance. I made the ceramic rooster WAY back in the 80's and it holds a mum that has come back for 3 years now.

I love the little bird bath....so do the birds! English Ivy and honeysuckle are coming up in this area and I am happy to see them! Wish I had MORE English Ivy as it is my all time favorite ground cover! I have TONS and TONS of Asian Jasmine and am grateful for that! I hate bare dirt which makes MUD!

I need to clean off the stone patio with some bleach and plan to do that soon. Hard to do everything you want to do in one day! I am going back out now to pot up some more mint! If anyone would like some, I will be happy to share!!

Your ponds are gorgeous. I remember them when Mary and I would come over sometime while you and mom painted! Sounds like you have been busy today.
