Stay-at-Home May Weekend!

I came home from the jam session on Thursday and I haven't left the house since!
Getting ready for carpet is as big a job as I thought it would be.

I spent all day Friday emptying every dish, glass, pitcher, silverware, napkin and various and other debris from all the drawers and shelves of the buffet and China hutches in the dining room. You can see Louis Dean's big hand in the photo above.
We were moving the furniture away from the wall so I could paper.

Just as we were at the breaking point of moving the largest piece - that China cabinet which is in TWO pieces - Jesse came in and rescued us!! Or ME!! I was about DONE!

I don't remember how long ago it was that I redid the dining room walls but it's been several years. I did not paper behind the high pieces of furniture - although I bought the paper and have kept it for when we would get carpet and have to move everything.
Only I thought this would happen 5-6 years ago!
But it IS happening now and I am just about as excited as I am tired!

Saturday I cooked two crockpots full of pinto beans!
I soaked too many and when I saw how they had 'grown' overnight in the soaking - I knew I  needed TWO pots!

So that many beans called for TWO iron skillets of homemade cornbread!

One of the major jobs in the dining room was going through all my art books and supplies stored in the buffet. I'm keeping my art down at the ranch now so I went through every last bit of the things in the buffet - a bag for trash, a bag for Goodwill and tubs and tubs for either the ranch or to sort and sell.

I found lots of art work I had forgotten about.....

Benjamin did this chalk work in 2003 while we were homeschooling.

This was Amber's......

and this one is mine.
I have never been a sketch artist and never will be.
I'm still amazed that I can paint!

Ed Young painted this in 2001 and was our inspiration.

Summer wants these plus two other pen and inks of Christ to mat and frame and use at the Bar-J Ranch in Eldorado, Arkansas. She's decorating the cabins and dining hall and auditorium.

A fun painting Amber did in 1998.

Remember the terrible flood that happened in 2018?
Water was 4-6 inches in both the den and the sewing room as well as the kitchen.
We were in Canada at the time and had been on an Alaskan cruise,
Well, my wallpaper - new and sealed - got wet along with so many other things.
We had a devil of a time unrolling it and yet Louis Dean got it done!
It took hours!

Saturday night I did not feel well at all.
I had an upset stomach and just had to go to bed.
This morning I was still worn out so I watched Fellowship church online and stayed home.

I guess I'm into doubles because I made a double batch of spiced pumpkin muffins this afternoon. I started with one to take to the Eat Love Pray meeting of First Christian Church where we were members several years ago. The meeting is tomorrow night and I am going to pick June up and take her with me. I promised Kimmy pumpkin muffins since they are her very favorite. Then I decided to make another batch to send with Jesse to the older grands and then I would have some for the Bell grands....and for Pam and Tamara....and, of course, for Louis Dean.

I finished the wallpapering this evening and - between me and Louis Dean - we got all our flower beds watered. We seldom water the grass actually. I guess it gets watered as we spray the water over to the gardens.

Carpet comes Thursday!!!
In between now and then I need to pack up the living room and Amber is coming in the morning to help me with that.
Plus Louis Dean has a cardiologist appointment on Tuesday and I have my primary care check up on Wednesday.

We are in for a very full week!!

Oh my what a lot of hard work. Getting new carpeting will be very nice though. Thankfully you have some helpers there. Thankfully the carpet was brand new when I moved in here so hopefully it won't have to be replaced for a long long time now. Take care and enjoy that new carpet!

Getting new carpet is a big job and glad the wallpaper worked out. Can't wait to see the finished pictures.

And this is why I am not getting any new flooring. I'm too old to care anymore. I think it is a good thing that you care. ☺️
Pace yourselves and have a great week in spite of everything going on.

Wow, deep breath...How do you do it???
I do hope you are feeling better. Listen to your body please..You don't have to be Wonder Woman all the time!!
Can't wait to see the new carpet. Getting something like that really causes a domino effect...one thing leads to another.
So glad you had help from Jesse and Amber too.
Nothing like having family helping out.
Love you
Sue

You get more done when you are sick than most of us when we are in top form! Happy for your new carpet...coming soon.
