Celebrating December First!

It's December First! How did it get here so fast?

Saturday I woke up with my knee hurting more than it usually does.

This is the one and only photo I took all day.
I used a Chinese medicine patch and then wrapped it in Ace bandages to give it some extra support since I couldn't find my favorite knee brace. I finally topped that with my oldest brace - the kind that has a hole where the knee cap is.
Still, I managed to get the kitchen pretty much clean and decorated.
Then we went over to the Bells for a great Italian dinner complete with a bottle of Chiante!
After dinner we all watched The Christmas Chronicles and enjoyed it every bit as much as we did last year when we first saw it!

I went to bed as soon as we got home and slept so well I only woke up once!
That doesn't happen but once in a great while.
My knee didn't hurt nearly as much as the day before and I was so thankful for that!

We were at the Bells Saturday and the Bells were coming here Sunday!

I lit candles, made tea and started preparing Sunday dinner.

The table was set with appetizers since they were coming straight from church.
I watched Fellowship Church service live online.

It  felt like a holiday and I suppose every day in December feels like one.
I had a King Ranch Chicken Casserole in the oven and a fresh fruit salad in the fridge while I was making up a garden salad.

The casserole was a success.
Nita made that for us a few weeks ago and it was delicious!
She served it with Tostitos with a Hint of Lime - really good!
It was fun to sit around the table talking and laughing together.

The parents went off to the movies and the kids stayed here.
They wanted to do some crafts so I set out a bunch of supplies and they went after it!

Kids are so creative!
They ended up creating an entire family.....
A mother, daddy, children and a baby in a crib - that's the one with the pink roses around the bottom.
There's even a grandma in there! See the lady in the blue velvet with the thin curly light colored hair?

We put up all the 'debris' and cleaned everything up so I could prepare the tea party and they could read.

Kailey's reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas and got into the mode by wearing the Grinch hat!

Tea party fare!

We had such a good time!

I wonder how many tea parties we've had together since they were born?

They were just babies when we had our first one.

All too soon, our day was done.
We enjoyed every single minute of it!

Bye!!!
It's a tradition and Trystan says, "This just never gets old!"

Good to the “bye.” Fun to hear how long they think it’s been since the last tea party...obviously, too long. ☺️

Your kitchen looks as if Mrs. Claus cooks there! So Christmas cheery!

Glad that you have your knee back under control. That’s a blessing.

so happy you could enjoy visiting the Bells and the Bells coming to your Chirstmas House... that family they created proves they have inherited their grandmothers artist genes. I can see and feel the joy. are you taking ibuphrofen or something else to help the swelling in your knee?

Hope that knee holds out for you until your surgery Linda. You will be so glad you got that part replaced. I often think of the pain people lived with before joint replacements were available. Loved seeing the Bells. I remember reading about the Quad days at your house and what sweet young people they are growing up to be! I know you are so proud of them.

I hope your knee is better by now. I know knee pain all too well. I loved seeing the quads. How they have grown! And they still love tea parties.

I so admire all that you do even with a bum knee. I manage to get my decorating done thanks to one of my son's helping get the bins out of the storage unit and he even put the empty bins back there too when I was done. I need more and more help these days, and am thankful I can still do what little I do get done. Family time is always the best of time and it looks like a wonderful day for you ! Hope today finds you feeling better too. Happy Monday !

Happy December to you!

Well I am so sorry your knee is hurting so bad - but how in the world did you do all those activities - making food and babysitting with the kids? Hurting like that?

You are amazing.

Everything looks so festive, and it sounds like you had a wonderful day with the grandkids. Your tea party fare looks so yummy, and I love the family they crafted. They are blessed to have such a fun grandma.

Lovely to see the grandies. Thinking positive thoughts about your knee - the mind is a wonderful thing - it will probably start to feel better just before your surgery.... Cheers

Hopefully, your upcoming surgery will provide the cure to your aching knee, Linda. Looks like you had 2 great nights of good food and good company. The crafts were very imaginative too.
