Wednesday With Amber

Amber and I spent some time together today!
The first thing we did was to take in a movie.......

We both love movies and the guy selling us our tickets was an even bigger movie fan.
We had meant to see the new Resse Witherspoon film but, come to find out, it only shows once a day and that's at 1:30 which would so not work for us.
He ran down the list of what would be starting soon and sold us on Victoria and Abdul.
Assuring us that we had only missed the 17 minutes of previews, we purchased our tickets.
As we were lingering a bit over a poster, he called out, "Hurry on! It starts in one minute!"
I like that little guy!
We loved the movie.
While Amber usually goes for a more action filled flick, Victoria and Abdul was excellent.

Since we saw an early show, we had time to do a little shopping.

First stop was a little boutique called Griffin and Grace and is a favorite of Amber's.

They have some very nice things.
This is one of the shops at Willow Bend Market.

Starbucks was just a few doors away so we did what we seldom get time to do -
sit and sip our drinks together and nibble and visit.
It felt good.

We had a little extra time so we went in the mall nearby and browsed through a few shops there.
I love days like this. Calm, peaceful, no sense of urgency or need of accomplishments.
We simply strolled through our day.

I went with her to pick the quads up from school.
It still seems to surprise me how fast Amber has grown up.
Doesn't seem that long ago that she was a little girl herself.
Now a talented free lance writer and mother of four!
Would you believe we arrived in the pick up line early??
I know! Neither of us are known as early birds!

The kids were so excited to see me and not one of them asked me where Granddad was!
That's amazing. Most of the time that's the very first thing they say!
I think they were missing MeeMaw!
I went back home with them for their after school routine.
They each carry in their back packs and empty their lunchboxes.
If they haven't eaten all their lunch, then that's their afternoon snack. If they have - they get 'new food' to snack on. I assured them I would help them take care of any leftovers.
Amber packs the best school lunches I have ever seen.
I was stuffed by the time I left!
I stuck around long enough to read them a book and do some 'papers' with them.
They love to cut up paper and make notes to give people.
Logan made one for me to give to Aunt Ruth Ann.

Since Mike works from home, every afternoon Kailey goes up to her 'office' to work for awhile.
She has a tray table she uses as her desk and practises her writing and such.
I remember when I was her age, I loved to write on papers. I would keep every piece of paper I could find and put them in an old purse and pretend I was a secretary.
All four are loving kindergarten and doing well.

It has been a really good day.

I was home by 5:00 and Louis Dean and I have acted like a couple of retired people......
we have watched some TV, sat in the gazebo while we did our reading and generally just puttered around. I set the den table with my new Debbie Mumm plates and spruced things up in there a bit.
I am enjoying the routine of home.
I know it's early but I think I am just about ready to go to bed!

Linda, I am missing the quads and your sweet Amber and Mike. I too think what ever happened to my little girls...they are grown , have families that are having families now. It did my heart good to be with my children after the Vegas shooting. Had to get away from the news watching too. I know that your family is all important to you also. So I think our day with the kids was perfect. That is a great photo of you and Amber. Please hug everyone for me. Love you, blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

Looks like you both enjoyed your day out. Having quads must be exciting! Glad you got to spend some time with them too. I have 2 grands that are in kindergarten but they are cousins not sister and brother.

Great post and I enjoyed catching up with Amber and the quads. I have wanted to see Judi Dench in that movie. She is one of my favorite actresses and it is good to see someone her age still thriving. Love your table setting with those cute Halloween plates!!

Sounds like you and Amber had a great day! I used to play secretary too. When I grew up I was a secretary and it wasn't as much fun. (ha, ha) Your Debbie Mumm plates are perfect on the table.

Is there anything better than a day with a daughter. I think I would like to see the movie, but my dearest probably wouldn't want too. That's OK, I enjoy seeing a movie by myself. Was that a Petite Vanilla Scone on that napkin at Starbucks??..My favorite.
Your table looks darling. Fall is here, and I made a few adjustments on my blog too.

You had a marvelous day. Was that one of those petite vanilla scones on your napkin at Starbucks??

I love how you love your family. With Gage living out on his own now, he seems more receptive to time with me now. He actually will invite me to lunch pretty often. I think this is going to be a good season, indeed ;)

Oh how I miss Amber's blog! I love her writing and hearing all about the kids. I miss seeing them on here, too and their adventures with you. Tea parties seem like just yesterday. I imagine they are very busy with kindergarten. They are missed. Please wish them happy smiles from a long time reader.
