I drove over to Arlington this morning to watch my 11 year old grandson play football.
Levi! Jesse, Jr's youngest son.
I don't think there is a better age to enjoy children than when they are 11!
Actually, I have enjoyed Levi at EVERY age!
When he was little - like 3 or 4 - Louis Dean and I took him to a little playground at Hulen Mall and he had us in tears as he acted like a puppy dog. He stayed in character for a long long time!
We still laugh when we talk about it.
He used to say that his mom would get so 'frust-ER-ated' at him!
After the ball game - which his team, the Mustangs WON - Leigh Ann, Levi and I went to lunch at TGI Friday.
Levi is delightful. He's learning states and capitols and I helped him practice.
His mom told me he knows all about weights and balances now but she told me how he makes even that fun. Pounds he understands and abbreviations he knows. The cutest thing is that instead of something being 8 pounds - he says, "Yeah, that's about 8 'libs!'
That's how he pronounces the abbreviation 'lbs!'
We call these sayings of his 'Levi-ism's!'
Leigh Ann ordered these amazing Crispy Green Bean Fries!
They are breaded and served with Cucumber-Wasabi Ranch.
Delicious!
We sat long at the table talking and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time together.
Thank you, Leigh Ann, for the lunch and conversation!
After lunch they were off to get Levi's hair cut and Leigh Ann posted these photos for me to share.
He is adorable! His main interests are football and wrestling. Levi is one of the most charming people I have ever met!
I went to Lowe's on my way home and filled my trunk completely up with reduced for quick sale bedding plants.
All this for $50!
Louis Dean was Johnny on the Spot and unloaded them for me and had them planted within the hour!
He and I had a nice afternoon together.
After the planting and watering was done, I grabbed a pillow off the porch bench and threw myself on the grass under the pecan tree in the front yard. I gazed up into the canopy searching for pecans and found none. NONE! The squirrels took what few the tree produced this year and that's that for our pecan crop. We have had quite a few good years in a row so I guess this was to be expected.
Since we will not be in church tomorrow, we attended the 5:00 service at Fellowship Church in Grapevine. It has been 3 or 4 years since we have been to church here and it was as awesome as it ever was.
It just felt good to be back there!
They just started a new series tonight called 'A Piece of Cake!'
The music is loud but Louis Dean seemed to handle it pretty well.
We were members here for a number of years.
After we got home, I packed up my bag and hugged Louis Dean goodbye and drove over to Rowlett to have a sleep over at Summer's!
This is her cozy bedroom and we got all settled in for the night.
Summer is especially proud of the new quilt she got in last week's auction at the Whitfield Family Reunion. It is a treasure made by our cousin, Pam, and will be loved and cherished by Summer. She said she feels like she is wrapped in her family's love with this quilt over her.
I brought our needlework with me tonight.
This is what Summer is working on.
My friend, Arlene at Nanaland, gifted me the pattern and I made up the kit for her.
She saw this and wanted to stitch it up for me so I thought that was a Win! WIN!!
Thank you, Arlene, for blessing BOTH of us!
I fully intend to finish this embellished cross stitch in time to hang it up for Christmas this year.
This has been a good Saturday - full of love and family and projects.
My blogging spot tonight!
I have my laptop, my wine and a container of Butter Cheerios Sabrina made.
Stove top method: Melt ¼ cup butter in a 10-inch skillet. Stir in 4 cups Cheerios; cook and stir 2 to 3 minutes or until cereal is well coated. Sprinkle with salt. Microwave method: In large microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 45 seconds or until melted.
These are seriously GOOD!!!
Summer and I have had a lovely evening together.
I think we both needed this time to talk and listen to one another.
I continue to praise God for taking care of her and Sabrina and Rayne during Hurricanes Irma and Maria as well as tropical storm Jose. They are all doing well. Summer is coming to terms with her recent diagnosis and doing the best she can to educate herself as to what will help her.
Thank you for all the advice and concerns.
We are on a research adventure trying to gleam as much information as we can concerning Fibromyalgia.
But for tonight - we have enjoyed our Mother/Daughter time!

Levi is cute as a button! And the picture of you loving on him and squashing his face is priceless. I always liked TGI Fridays. But all the ones around here have shut down. I remember many many years ago, when they had at least 10 flavors of milkshakes. I like Summer's pretty bedroom. And it is full of family love now. I used to have some books about Fibromyalgia. If I find them, I can send them to you. What a great mother/daughter picture!
Loving Levi's haircut and his big grin!
Fibro's an "unseen syndrome", in that there are no outer ways people can see it. There are different ways of treatment, but they react well on some, and not at all on others. It has no blood test that IDs it; many people, (even doctors), don't "believe it is real".
Moist heat on trigger point areas does help, plenty of sleep and rest, too. Walking is good--our legs are too important to lose. No excersize stiffens an already stiff body.
It's kind of lonely, because you look healthy -- but don't feel it. I think sometimes we mask our pain with smiles because it's so hard to explain to many people why you couldn't be at an event because you're exhausted and you're hurting so badly.
I am sure books will help, but understanding and love really help a lot, too. All days aren't the same, but love is so important.
Some days one can accomplish more. Other days, almost nothing. I pray God will guide Summer and you and all her family on this journey!
That room is so pretty and inviting!
what fun what fun! a grown up sleep over. Levi is really a handsome guy.. and talented to... love the new quilt. and I want that desk. is that Summers table or yours? have not seen one like it. perfect for laptop. looks adjustable. Hope LD is not to lonesome and Home Alone and getting in trouble.
Thank you for always sharing some of the specifics that make each person a personality. So many bloggers have such “flat” family. 😏
Levi is growing like the proverbial reed. He has always been handsome and he still is.
So glad that you and Summer had some quality time together. Ongoing prayers coming her way. Fantastic photo of the two of you!
Family time is so important and you certainly had plenty of that for your Saturday. How wonderful to have a mother/daughter sleepover. Hope you have a very blessed Sunday!
Linda, I know how much you love your family. Levi is one handsome young man. I hope he always stays so charming. LD is a great worker. That's not bad timing getting the plants in the ground. Then getting to church. It's nice that you had an evening with Summer. he picture of you both looks so nice. I like the one with Levi also. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
That Levi is going to steal the girls hearts when he is a little older. You have such good looking grands Linda. Tell Summer I want to see her cross stitch when it is done. Maybe that will be a new pass time for her. Tell her if she wants to see more cross stitch projects to check out Floss Tube on You Tube. Chelsea and Priscilla are mother/daughter stitchers. You and Summer would enjoy them.
Yes our sweet grandsons are at a sweet age.
I spent half day yesterday with 4 of my sweet grandsons, they live about 45 min drive away and I stopped for 5:30 mass as I left town to head home
Love the cross stitch and I'm sure it will be fabulous when finished
Just stopping in for a short visit, this job is killing all my fun time LOL
What a wonderful day with so many of your loved ones.
How wonderful to travel out and about to children and grandchildren...11 year old boys are SO fun so I know he treasures time with you! Summer most likely felt wonderful having you spend the night...just lovely!
That Levi is a charmer! This age is so fun, my Kyle just turned twelve.
I'm sorry about Summer's diagnosis, but thankful at the same time. It helps to know what you're dealing with, so you can learn about it and deal with it! Praying for wisdom for you both as your research.
What a darling Levi is. Love the picture of you squeezing his cheek. Too cute.
How nice that you could have some Mother/Daughter time with Summer. She had a cute room, and I love your blogging spot...perfect!!!
Levi is a cutie! I love his name. (He didn't look to sure about that smooch, though. lol)
I think I am going to try those Cheerios...it sounds like something I'd definitely like.
PS...I get some of the best flower photos at Lowe's. That's probably photo-cheating, though.
