Tuesday Treasures, Doctor Visits , Favorite Delivery Guy and a Good Dinner!

I can't drive at night any more....at all.
So my dear friend, Virginia, picked me up at 6:15 on Monday night so I could join the First Christian Church ladies for their monthly meeting.

Each lady brought a salad contribution to the meal and it was such a good evening of fellowship, food, love and prayers. I took potato salad and Virginia had pasta salad and there were over two dozen other offerings! It was an amazing meal! It was so good to visit with old friends and pastor Deb.
We were members of First Christian Church for a number of years before we went back to Fellowship Church. While no longer members, we continue to love one another and keep touch through Facebook!
It's a good thing Virginia picked me up because it was dark dark when I got home.
I got out of the car and was walking up to the porch when I spotted Louis Dean sitting at the table on the driveway sipping a glass of wine and waiting for me. Virginia got out so she could hug his neck and visit a couple of minutes with him. She and I hope to connect more often in the next few weeks.

Tuesday morning I was up early for my doctor appointment for my eyes.
My doctor put ambiotic membrane tissue on a contact lens and put that in my right eye.
I have dry macular degeneration which is better than wet as far as the dry has a slower deterioration rate. It went really well and my cornia drank up all the stem cells and the doctor removed the contact at the end of the day. Win! WINN!
Next week, I'll have the left eye done.

Alas, age is happening and my right hip decided to pitch a fit and declare its retirement!
I have felt twinges since June but then all of a sudden, it was not something I could ignore.
I have an appointment next week with my orthopedic surgeon,  Doctor Sanders.
I'm almost certain I'll be having a hip replacement in the near future - hopefully in January.
I have degenerative bone disease and have already had six joint replacements so I knew the hips would be next. Dr. Sanders assured me he would still be there for me when it was time to do the hips and I'm so happy about that!

Still, I did not miss my Tuesday Thrifting With Brenda - even though I could only make it through one thrift store.

I nearly always find treasures and this day I found three fall tea glasses, a fall wreath and two garlands

Plus a few Christmas gifts I can't post about.

This candle!!!
I bought a small one at HEB in Waco and it really does smell like the butter tortillas they sell.
I scored with this large candle and am loving the fragrance.

I didn't take pics of the Chico's things Brenda found for me! Such great bargains and I will enjoy wearing these this fall and winter.
While we were out taking pics of my treasures,

...our favorite Amazon delivery guy brought my package of Sunflower cologne!
He was nearly at the end of his shift and stayed to visit for a few minutes.
Turns out he loves all things pumpkin and I promised him some muffins on September first!
Plus I opened up my package and spritzed a spray of sunflower colonge on his arm!
He had no idea how sunflowers smelled.

Later that afternoon, my sweet Louis Dean worked on my garlands by tightening up the loose pieces.

Dinner last night was another sandwich kind of meal.
With the summer heat, I just can't get in the mood to actually cook!

I went in to tell Louis Dean good morning.
Sometimes he gets up before me and sometimes I get up before him.

He is so creative and confiscates my boxes and containers when I put them in the trash.
I reclaimed a gold themed glass container I was using for a vase. It was formerly a candle container.
He and I both recyle things so I can't fault him with finding treasures in the trash!

I woke up at 10:30 and immediately went to the kitchen to bake a pistacchio crack cake for my doctor.
It was still warm from the oven when I arrived at 2:20 for my full body scan with my dermatoligist.
It was a good visit and she froze a few places and prescibed a cream and we talked and laughed and she loved the cake!

My appointment was 2:20 and I was home by 2:50!!
Easy peasy!

Since my hip is acting up, I told Louis Dean he needed to help me shop Aldi and, since he's my Knight in Shining Overalls, off we went!

What a help he was and is!
Every one needs to be needed and I do so need him!

September is coming!
Look at all the pumpkin goodies I found!!
Saving these for September First!
I am so excited, as I am every year, when September arrives.
I hope I never lose my love of September and all that goes with celebrating my favorite day of all the year. It's my own personal holiday!
Do you have one?

We got home around 4:30 and I spent the next several hours in the kitchen.
I put away the groceries, organized the fridge, started dinner prep, and stayed in the kitchen for the next several hours.

This recipe is from our beloved librarian, Jennifer and every single book fair, she shares a fantastic recipe with me. This is the second time I've made this.

Perfect dish both times!

I made fried onions and potatoes, cornbread and beans as sides....and a slice of crack cake for dessert!

It's been a really good day!
I'm grateful for good doctors, good days, good friends, and all the blessings God has showered on me.
And I'm grateful for all of YOU...
my dear blogging friends and I'm grateful for all your encouraging words and prayers.
I pray for every single one who reads my words as I ask God's blessing on each one of you.

Amen!!

I am so sorry about your hip. I imagine they may do an M.R.I. or a C.T Scan. I have problems with both hips that keep me up at night, and both shoulders. It ain't fun getting old. How cool that you are friends with your delivery man. You just bring sunshine into EVERYONE'S lives!
