Tuesday Treasures and a Kitty named Matchbox!!

Louis Dean and I have had a run of really good days this last week.
His only complaint has been that it's hard for him to wake up. He feels like he's half asleep for most of the day but that doesn't stop him from watering the front and back, piddling in his room, playing his guitar and generally enjoing life.

It's hot in Texas but not nearly as hot as it normally is this time of year.

We can't complain.
No rain here in our area but there's been some all around us.

Meals have been simple sandwiches or salads this week.
No real cooking and I'm glad.
I am not a I love to cook kind of gal, but I do want to serve good wholesome meals.

I've continued to do art just about every day and will be starting my Christmas Santa for this year in the next few days.

School is back in session now and these beautiful Bells are now in the 8th grade!

The season of First Day of School will continue for a few more years and then all my grands will be adults. I feel like life is in fast forward mode.

Tuesday morning I had an appointment with my ophthalmologist.

Back in June I bought a new pair of glasses with the feature of turning into shades when you go outside.
What happened is I got confused about which pair were my new glasses and I could not even remember what they looked like. I've been wearing some of my old glasses and using readers for close up work.
I sometimes wear a pair of glasses that were Louis Dean's beloved Ellen. I call them my walking around glasses and they do fine. I just can't read anything with them!

So my doctor ordered me another pair just with the same frame but instead of progressive, they will have close up and distance with lines. No middle man as in the middle vision. The new ones were considerably cheaper! Plus she called in a prescription for eye drops. I've been taking vitamins for my eyes for over a year now. Plus next week I will go in and receive stem cells that will be on the back of a clear contact lens then I'll go back the next evening when she will take it out. We will do the other eye the following week. This may not help in a big way but any improvement is better than none. She explained in a way that I better understand macular degeneration. Solar shields may not make a huge difference but wearing them will help slow the disease down.

I hit up a thrift store in South Irving on my way home and scored big with 40% off of eveything!
They had a ton of good fall debris and I had such a good time loading my cart!

Later I met Brenda and we thrifted our two favorite stores before having lunch at Chick-fil-A.
Tuesdays are my favorite! I usually spend 4-5 hours away and this week it was a little more than that since I shopped Aldi after our late lunch.

I was exhausted by the time I got home, unloaded and put everything up.
I didn't even open up my thrift store treasure bags until the next day!

I spent a good deal of Wednesday putting all my stuff away and I decided to take pics of how I styled it.

I found this beautiful king size comforter at the South Irving thrift. It was 40% off of $25!

Black wreath I hung on my closet door.

I am the Queen of Cover Up!
This is a quilted cover with two pillow cases and a pillow sham.
I used these on the couch and the cases on the arms and I'm loving the warm cozy feeling!

I'm a sucker for a cute pillow.

I'm always amazed at the brand new candles I find and, since I burn at least a candle in a room or two every day, I scarf them up! I'll be saving the pumpkin one to burn on September first!

Since I am having a movie night every week with Ilene, I decided to hang the Movie Night sign on the den closet door. I already had the two snack signs and found the soda one thrifting so now I have a theme going!

I hung this sign in the den window area.

I already had the dress but I bought the filmy cover/cloak to wear with it and will jazz it up with some accessories.

I can't tell you how much fun I've had - thrifting and displaying!

This is in the sewing room......

as is this one.

Currently I'm still working on the sewing room.....

and hung this wooden wreath up in there.

I just LOVE the Hello Fall sign!! Picked up the white pumpkins to go with it.

It's a special moment when I clean the huge cake stand that belonged to Nita and find something pretty to put in it.

Just 17 days until September first and I am so excited.

I love all the pretty fall things I found.

I even found a 50 count strand of amber mini lights.

Now for other news.....

Meet Matchbox!

Benjamin adopted this 4-month-old kitten yesterday and we are all so excited and happy for him!

He recently lost his cat Zuko to congested heart failure and then the next week discovered Klaus (brither to our cats) has kidney disease. Ben is the best cat dad ever and is doing all he can to help Klaus and we are all praying for him. Now he's doing the same thing for Matchbook. While he doesn't have a disease, he is being treated for fleas, tape worms just in case he ate any, and ring worm.
Matchboook is one blessed kitty to be adopted by him.

Chandy and her family were planning on coming to visit us but it will be next week now.
I should be all decorated for fall by then!!

Matchbook is so cute! He is one lucky cat. I LOVE your fall finds!!! I have a candle like one of these. My favorites are the wooden wreath, pillow, candles, and pretty dress cover. I have not heard of this stem cell treatment. You have said you have DRY Macular Degeneration, right? I wonder if one of Louis Dean's meds is making it hard to get up? A lot have that kind of side effect.
