Sunday in the Mountains

It's a wonderful thing to wake up in the mountains.

It was 49 degrees last night so the morning was plenty chilly enough for a sweater as I sat out with my coffee and quiet time.

Louis Dean joined me when he woke up - you can see that he's not quite awake yet!
We watched Fellowship Church service online and it was an excellent message.
The mountain fires here in May came close to this area of homes and it was sobering to see burned trees in close proximity to houses. The entire community had been evacuated May 1st.
Ed and Lisa Young had taken a road trip up to the Rocky Mountains earlier and their message was on how God uses the 'fires' in our lives to scatter our seeds and bring new growth.
It was an emotional message for me and one I truly needed to hear.
I didn't cry yesterday - or at least not much,
And I didn't cry today - only teared up a time or two.

Jesse brought me a special cup of very fancy coffee in a cup that says....
Nature....It's Cheaper Than Therapy!

This afternoon we went for a ride to some of the scenic places around here

This is a ski resort 10 minutes from the cabin!

It's on my bucket list to ski again!!

I'm just soaking up all the beautiful experiences of being here!

We next drove to a scenic lookout.....

Louis Dean says he has not felt this good all year!

It's such a beautiful part of the country and the weather is gorgeous!

The air is soft and friendly.

We got back to the cabin and Jesse and I went high up in the mountains here beyond the cabins on the four wheeler. This was exciting, thrilling and sobering, as well.
I saw the hot spots where fires had burned right in front of some of the cabins.
Our trail took us where burned trees had been cleared from both sides.
Not one cabin was lost here but the fires were perilously close.
Everyone is still singing the praises of the firefighters.
I see homemade signs on the highway thanking them.

Louis Dean and I went on a walk later in the afternoon.

Not too far but enough to cause us to sit on some stones and rest.

We had soup and salad for a late lunch and then I went to bed for a good long nap.

Louis Dean sat out in the meadow of daisies practicing his music.

Then when I got up we made a video.....

I'll Give you a Daisy a Day is one of his favorites.

It rained early in the evening and it was glorious!
I mean a real rain!

I've run into computer problems this evening and my patient son has taken care of all of them.
I had meant to do some writing in my book but when I opened it up - things went hay wired.
After he got THAT fixed - I tried to put my videos and photos on - and none of that worked.
So I think I need to close tonight's journal entry while things are working smoothly.

We have four more days here before we drive home and I am so very thankful and blessed to BE here!

Oh I love the photo of LD sitting in the Daisies with his guitar. And I am glad this trip has helped him to feel better. The unrelenting heat is certainly hard on us older citizens.:) I am glad you are refreshing your soul there too Linda. You have had a hard summer. Much love to you both.

Only if you live where it is HOT in the summer can you truly appreciate a trip to the mountains:) So glad you were able to go, your son is a keeper.

Oh Linda, I love everyone of your photos and descriptions but the one of LD in the daisies is a real wall hanger. You need to paint that one for sure.
I'm so happy you are having a special time in the cool mountains. Your Jesse is so thoughtful and kind.
Enjoy every minute of this week.

The sound of the mountain stream was so nice to hear and I can just imagine being up there in the mountains with that lovely cool air. It was good to hear Louis Dean singing "I'll give you a daisy a day" too. I could tell that he was very much enjoying playing his guitar and singing to you:) Such a nice peaceful, relaxing time for you and Louis Dean. I know that you'll soak it all in Linda. What a wonderful gift to you and Louis Dean from Jesse.
