Preparing for the New Kitchen Countertops!

The kitties came home Thursday night and Friday morning they came in to keep me company while I had my quiet time in the comfort of my bed all warm and cozy with flannel sheets, down comforter and comfy quilts. I usually have the back door open and they can't resist checking out the view.

They were really calm and quiet Friday.
I know they are sisters from the same litter.....

....but they are like best friends.
I give them an egg every morning and I tried to give them each their own egg in their own bowl.
Nope! They only wanted to eat from the same one. So now I put the egg in a larger shallow bowl since they are getting so much bigger! They didn't start running and playing until Saturday morning!
They were tired and Amber said Ginger was the same way!

We knew we would be busy this weekend getting ready for the new countertops coming on Monday.

We both went out to do our errands - he went to Home Depot and I went to the post office, picked up prescriptions, and grocery shopped Aldi before we met back at the house and got to work in the kitchen.

He brought the ladder in and I prepared the upper wall for painting on Saturday.
Most of it had been painted a few years ago but I couldn't reach the area above the fridge.
I must not have had a ladder then!
Can you see me perched up there on top of the fridge?

Looking down at Louis Dean!

Photo Shoot!!

This is the way we left the kitchen on Friday night.
Lots of work done and lots more yet to do!

Saturday I was up and at 'em! Kiltzed and painted the wall areas and had started putting the 'debris' back up.....

I was standing right in the corner by the sink and about to climb up on the step ladder when the cupboard fell forward off the wall. Talk about perfect timing! I held the door closed so all the dishes wouldn't fall out.....and yelled for Louis Dean who was in his room doing music. I had the stereo on with Sarah Brightman singing her heart out and our house is practically sound proof!
I yelled until I was hoarse and then started screaming! Not even the kitties came out to see what was going on! Finally......Louis Dean came out of the music room and looked down the hall!
YES! I was a damsel in distress and my knight in shining armor arrived at last!
Praise God for his perfect timing!

He got right to work and secured the cabinet to the wall.
This was the third one he's had to repair.
Then he checked all the others to make certain they were sturdy.

I worked late but I got everything all pretty on top of the upper cupboards.
Nothing went back in the same place as I changed everything about.
I liked it and went to bed tired but happy.

This morning I woke up at 6:30 and got up and went right back to work and I have been at it all day long. I stopped to watch church online and at 1:30 I had to cry uncle and take a nap.

We still have the lower cabinets to empty.

And we have to pull out all the drawers.....

.....Louis Dean must take the trim up along the counters.
He can do it without breaking it and I have plans to paint and use it elsewhere.

We need to carry those dishes to the trunk of the car in the morning.

And then we will be ready for the new countertops!!

So glad you were able to advert the catosphe of the dishes until Louis Dean could secure the cupboard. That is a lot of work to do, but at least you know everything will soon look better. How exciting to have new countertops. It'll be fun putting it all back in place.

Oh my! You get so much done! I'm still wrestling with the shingles! If you haven't gotten the shingles shot, think about it. It is just miserable. Hope the countertops go well-known can't wait to see them! xxxTrudy

I understand what you are going through, but not because I have personlly done it, but both daughters have been redoing their kitchens. What a difference countertops and back spash can make. I'm so tickled for you. Know you are going to love your new look.
Yikes, I gasp when I read of your holding that cabnet and screaming for Louis Dean. Thank God you were able to hold it, and not get hurt or all the dishes fall out and break.

Can't wait to see the new ones.
