Our Weekend and Monday....All Caught Up!!

It was a cold and rainy Saturday and perfect for staying in by the fireplace.
We've been watching a 'new' to us program from 2016 .....

Maigret - set in Paris in the 1950's.
Much like Inspector Morse which is set in England in 1955.

Before I went to bed I poured a glass of my favorite wine and read a few chapters while eating a couple of bites of the decadent pecan pie Brenda had sent home with us Friday night.
I had hidden it in a tin - to prevent Louis Dean from eating it all up.

Unfortunately, he found it Sunday afternoon and ate it ALL while I was taking a nap!
It was a good Sunday! Church and home for an afternoon of football - and my nap.
I spent some time organizing my new make up and toiletry bags and getting things ready for when I go to the hospital.

I spent several hours today (Monday) doing pre-op appointments.
First at the surgeon's office and found that surgery is scheduled for 12:45 next week.

I won't have to get up early, so that part's nice.
Not being able to drink so much as an ounce of water for over 12 hours, not so nice!

They gave me a white folder with the Rx for a handicap placard plus the hospital information and directions to go for a nasal swab and registration.
I went to the ladies restroom and accidentally left the white folder at the check out window.
Thankfully, I remembered it before leaving the office.
Then I drove to the hospital and registered for my surgery.
It's a small world - the lady at the desk turned out to be my neighbor - just across the street by the drainage ditch.
She and her family always come over on Halloween. I didn't even know her name before we got to talking and found out we live on the same street.
Well, I ended up leaving my white folder when I left the nurse who did my medical history.
I was at the post office when she called me to tell me I had left it. While she was talking, Gloria heard her and said she would be happy to drop it by on her way home.
She had her little girl with her so they came in and we visited a few minutes.
So now I know another neighbor! Win! WIN!!

It's really dawning on me that I am about to be out of commission for several weeks so I went into full Christmas Take Down mode!

The living room tree is the one biggest job, so I did that first.
I took off all the ornaments and ribbons.....

Then Louis Dean took off all the lights and got the tree down.
If I use my time wisely, I think I can get most of it all done by next Monday.
At least, that's my plan!

Good night, Folks!
Sleep well......

Glad you at least got a taste of that yummy looking pie.
Hope everything (that needs to) gets done before your surgery. The days just seem to zoom by!<3

I leave my decorations up thru epiphany. But of course you cannot do that this year, even if you wanted. Know I am praying about your surgery! Do you have some kind of prayer line or chain at your church? Would you like me to put you on ours? I manage it. I could even give you the phone number to call and hear it, plus it goes out on e-mails too.

Good luck with your surgery but how nice it was for you to meet your neighbor by chance. I'm sure she'll be checking in on you. I got in full take down mode too. WE are leaving on vacation on the 5th so I Christmas needed to come down and get put away. It's kinda sad because I love my Christmas decorations and the feel of the house but I don't want to have to deal with it in the middle of January when we get back.
I'll be thinking of you and praying all goes well.
Happy New Year!!

Thank you Linda for updating getting ready for your surgery - Christmas put away is a big job - starting with the biggest tree was a good plan. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I have been gone from visiting blogs like I want, and really have missed your posts. Now, tell me...what is your surgery? I must go back & catch up and know. Hope it goes well. You're in my thoughts. Be blessed Linda!

How nice that you made a new friend in your neighborhood! I am thankful that she was nice enough to bring your folder to you. That sounds like myself if I need to keep up with something.
I hate that you feel that you must hurry to get Christmas down, but it is necessary with your surgery coming. I will certainly keep you on my prayer list.

It’s a small world after all... that worked out! Everything ultimately works out. You had a beautiful Christmas and now the untrimming begins as it does for all of us eventually. Mine will be late this year. It is just now looking like Christmas so things are matching up. I had to toss the leftover Christmas cookies this morning. That makes me sad. I’d rather have someone to eat them all up. Pace yourself now. Don’t be so tired going into surgery that you have no reserves. Of course, you know all these things, but your readers who love you must fuss and cluck a bit. Thank you for helping us with that. 😊

It truly is a small world, it tured out tht my SIL has a friend that lives here in the neighborhood where the son I'm visiting lives. There are lots of people here that have moved to Florida from Ohio. Good you have time to undecorated before your surgery. You'll appreciate that whue recovering. Will be praying for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery

I so hope your surgery goes well....my husband's was just last year....no hospital stay, only day surgery for a total knee....the home health for 30 days was wonderful as they came to our home...a pretty tough recovery....I believe his surgeon may be one of the few, that inserts a drain tube during surgery which is a real life saver.....take good care....wishing you a very happy and healty New Year!

Oh Linda, you are going to love your new knee. It made a world of difference for Marvin. He has had his five years now. I took down all our Christmas decor as we are going to Grimmwood. Then I have to take down the tree there too. Fortunately it is a small tree and I do not decorate as much over there. Will be adding you to my prayer list for a good surgery and rapid recovery.

Having the surgery date has been a blessing in disguise to get you all organized and getting things done early and out of the way. I always wait till after New Years to take mine down, probably Thurs. but it only takes just a little while as I do not have a lot up.

we have been waiting and waiting for your suregery date and now it is here. prayers for a safe surgery and for the new year to bring happiness and joy and good health, to you and LD and all your lovely family. I laughed about the hidden pie that was found by the cookie monster. I bought Bob a small fruitcake, and put is in a container in the cabinet, so I could not see it. out of sight out of mind. he hate the whole cake in 3 days. I am glad it is gone.

Your so smart to have thought your recovery time through and planned for it! You’ll enjoy the pretty lights and winter things without the stress of seeing all the Christmas stuff.

I’m praying for a successful surgery and a good recovery!

As you know I'm always free with advice - feel free to ignore but how about just taking it easy before your op and leaving Christmas in place - so what! Cheers

Linda, I am so glad you are getting on top of things...it will mean you won't be trying to do things too soon after your surgery. Call your friends, family and neighbors to help out , if needed. I know since mt back is improving, it is hard for me to sit still and not try to do things I am not to be doing at this time. LOL. Blessings for a beautiful New Year. Love you , LD, and your family. xoxo,Susie
