Spring!

I'm loving the spring season!
Watching the trees, bushes and flowers bud out right before my very eyes!

And I love the memories of past springs, as well.
My photographer friend, Debbie, took this picture of the Bell grands when they were three years old.

The gardens looked ugly just a few short weeks ago and now I take my coffee out every morning to discover new blooms showing off!

Remember the rose bushes Sherry found for us a couple of months ago?
Some were marked down to $5 as this yellow rose was...and others were just $0.50!

The dianthus returned.....

I bought the bluebonnets at HEB when we were last at the ranch and I am hoping they will come back next year.

The honeysuckle blooms are just about ready to open up!

I treasure my mornings inspecting the flower beds to the sound of birdsong and cheeping babies.
All our bird houses are currently occupied.

Louis Dean and I did the school pickup run on Thursday afternoon and we all went to Race Trac for frozen yogurt.

We used to do that at least once a month back when they were in elementary school.
It had been over a year and here we are!!

Next up was my appointment with Kailey as my hairdresser!
My hair has grown long and needed the ends trimmed so I asked Kailey to do it!

Plus she trimmed up my sides....

Excellent job!

I didn't even realize just how long it was - and this is after she cut off about three inches.

Not only did she cut my hair but she styled it, too.

I hope to have a standing appointment with her every six weeks or so.

Thursday night stargazing with Louis Dean!

Louis Dean forgot we brought our kitties home until Tabitha ran outside between his legs!
Soooo.....we spent our Friday morning on the driveway keeping Tabitha company until she finally decided to waltz back in the front door. I put her and Samantha in the guest room for the rest of the day!

My dear friend, Shirley, came for tea and brought lunch with her!
We go way back and are just weeks apart from being the same age.
(Pst! Guess who's oldest??)
We went to church together for years and on mother/daughter trips together.
We were in San Antonio   when the terrible flood happened in 1998
and were stranded in the hotel with our mothers. It was actually a lot of fun for us but not for those who lost homes and lives and property.

Anyway, we had such a good visit that we talked non stop and I didn't remember to snap a single photo of my pretty tea table and the sumptious lunch Shirley provided!

This has been such a good Saturday!
Kimmy dropped by  with her sweet Sophie.

Look how sweet she is!
Bless her heart.

Kimmy gifted us with dozens of CD s from her Aunt Tommie.
She is another very long time friend to me.

Louis Dean was so excited with the collection Kimmy brought him.
He was like a kid in a candy store!!

He said, "Kimmy gave me a treasure!!!!

I've been busy all day finishing up some loose ends here and there.
My spring and summer decorating is almost done with only the gazebo left to transform next week.
I'm hoping to make it magical since I last half heartedly put some fall things out there - and they are still there!! I plan to pull out all the stops!

Now for tonight!

Ilene will be here within an hour or so.
I haven't decided on our movie tonight as yet but I am excited about visiting with Ilene as it's been too long! We usually connect on a weekly basis so I have been missing her.

Baked potatoes in the crock pot.

Buffalo hot wings in another crockpot.
Baked beans in yet another  crockpot and minted cantaloupe with creme filled brioche and fruit for dessert.

Now I'm off to make the traditional pepper poppers and then shower and dress for our Saturday dinner and movie night!!

Kailey has a talent! I wonder if she will become a hairdresser or a beautician? The Dianthus is stunning! I don't think I have ever seen any.

me to on bit of a mess and doing my best. I had no idea your hair was long, I thought it was short all this time. love the coiled pigtail. she is talented. LD looks great and so do the quads, both past and present. they grew up so fast.
Bob has not been able to walk for 2 weeks now without the aid of a walker, can't stand long enough to fix his breakfast and I have to fix it now.

Spring is my favorite season. I loved the pictures of your flowers. I haven't got any herey yet, but am planning on it. your hair really grew out long. I keep mine short so it's easy to care for. Hope you are enjoying Spring even though we do need rain!

Love the photos & how uplifting your posts are. I've moved so much & don't have the treasured connections you have. Btw, your helper hairdresser did a beautiful, stylish job! Those adorable grands will keep you forever young.

Your flowers were beautiful and I am not sure how you have time to do all that. Boy the twins have really grown up. I didn't know your hair was so long too. You do have a beautiful but hard at times - life.

Aww, what a very cute dog (Sophie).
Loved scrolling through this post and looking at all the pictures. Great one at the top of the Bell when they were little.
What an amazing bargain for those rose bushes.
Kailey did a great job with your hair.
Definitely a beautiful day.
