Burger's Lake on Wednesday and Nesting on Thursday

You can count on me being early at least ONE day in the year! That would be the first Wednesday of August when I take my older grandchildren to Burger's Lake!
We arrived a full half hour before they even opened!

Can you see the house peeking out from behind the sign?
That's where the owners live. It is made of petrified wood. I visited with the lady who lives there as we were paying our entrance fees. She said they had just finished painting the interior of the house and doing some updates. I told her how awesome it must be to actually LIVE at Burger's Lake and she stretched her arms out and said, "THIS is my back yard!!!"

They let us in 15 minutes early but the water wasn't open until 9:30 when the life guards go on duty.
No problem!! We brought cards and played NUTS!

Faith is my oldest granddaughter and is 11.
She's just about the sweetest girl around and super 'cool.'

Meet Nathan and Andie - two of the three grandchildren Deanie brought.

I'm so glad Deanie felt like coming. She had to pace herself but she was there!

Nita takes a vacation day every year to come with us.

She brought a BUNCH of good food!

Last year Nita and Deanie grilled hot dogs for lunch and hamburgers for dinner.
This year we opted for cold food.
Good choice.

I just love this photo of Nita!!!
It says it all.
Burger's Lake is a good place to relax under the shade trees.
It's a 30 acre park featuring a one acre spring fed lake.

We always pick the table closest to the splash pad where the water is icy cold!

It's literally like ice water straight from the fridge.

On a hot August day - it's STILL cold!!!

Faith stood under the bucket! She's a good sport!

Tyler, another of Deanie's grandsons, just sat down under it!
He is 6 and he spent most of the day right there at the Splash Pad.

It's a tradition that I stand under the bucket, too.

I told Faith, "Don't tell me when it's about to fall."
She didn't.

WHOA! That was shockingly COLD!!!

Next year I'm going to roll our watermelon over to the smaller fountain and let it get icy cold.

Faith and I have a few traditions that we have started.
One is doing a Musical.ly video.
We usually do an Instagram phot, too, but we were so busy we forgot that one!

Thanks to Faith, I am a cool Mimi!!!
We were the first to arrive and one of the last to leave - a full 10 hours later.
I could barely walk when I got home but it was a happy tired.
I actually PLAYED in the lake water with Faith and Levi for hours. We played Shark and Tag and Drag and Baptize and all sorts of play. Faith can do some pretty smooth moves much like synchronized swimming figures. I'm going to look into seeing if she might go to a beginning synchro camp next summer. How cool would THAT be to have another synchronized swimmer in the family?

I posted this on Facebook last night right before I fell into bed.

"I had the best time ever today at Burger's Lake! This was our third annual August Celebration and I loved every minute of it! I had Faith and Levi with me and they were wonderful! We played all day long! As in nearly 10 hours! I admit that every muscle in my body is hurting tonight and there is no way I am going to do one thing more than crawl into bed. Thank you, Levi, for keeping us entertained and thank you, Faith, for keeping me above water and lending me a hand as I climbed the steps from the beach. Thank you,Deanie and Nita for all the food, fun and fellowship! Trish and Kim, your kids are terrific ! I am one tired but happy lady tonight who is realizing I'm not as young as I used to be! However, I intend to party on for as long and as hard as I can!"

It was bliss to sleep in this morning and then lie in bed for an hour or more after waking.
Louis Dean and I had our coffee and reading out in the gazebo and it would have been WAY too hot had he not rigged up that red neck water cooler.

I spent the rest of the day and into the evening cleaning the kitchen.
Louis Dean has been doing a good bit of baking and cooking and it was time for a good scrubbing and setting to rights.

I love my home! It has been one of the biggest blessing of my life to live here for the past 50 years.

I have never taken a cozy home for granted and count it a privilege to live in this one.
The kitchen table is always set for coffee or tea so the next time you are in the area, come on over!

Louis Dean has watered while I wrote so I will close with a good report on my toe.

Finally it is looking and feeling so much better!!!!

I give the credit to my sister, Nita, who gave me some of her emuaid.
I ordered a jar of my own and it arrived today.
Nita discovered it through her co worker, Deanna.

It's always nice to find a product that really works!

Oh dear Linda, how do I break this to you gently, Burger's Lake would be total punishment to me. I don't like to get in water. I hope to make a day trip over the week-end to the Pacific Ocean but I only want to look at it. I agree with Faith, you are indeed a cool Mimi. I also think your home looks comfy and homey. Are you making a trip to the beach with Summer? Good lord, when are you going to work in time for your other toe surgery? I agree the toe is looking much better. Glad the new ointment is working. It probably thought you had ice on it all day at Burger's Lake. I've lived in a lot of houses in the 54 years I've been married. Can't imagine living in the same house 50 years. Probably why I don't have the sentimental attachment to things that you do.

TEN hours! You have more energy than almost anyone I know! But we must make the most of the summer light while it is here. This looks like so much fun. And you are such a good sport! Your toe IS looking better! I hope it has stopped hurting.

That looks like a fun place to spend a day! It has been so hot here so I can imagine how nice that cold water would feel to cool you off. The splash pad looked like a neat area. Glad that your toe is getting better.

Those days that the grands can count on 'always' doing are precious. There's nothing like water and kids and food to make a great tradition. You're such a good sport - I don't know if I'd have been able to stand under the bucket!
