Louis Dean and I spent all day Monday taking out our old window AC unit and cleaning the window area all up before installing the new one which was much smaller and more efficient.
Alas, when it was finally done and we turned it on - it didn't work!
My surgery for the right eye was scheduled for Wednesday and I so wanted to get the AC in before that.
I was upset and felt helpless since Louis Dean was at a loss at what to do about the problem.
I didn't sleep much that night and the next morning I called Summer and she couldn't figure out what the problem was so I called Billy. He is an excellent electrician and after checking everything out determined the unit was defective.
So Summer packed up the bad one and she and I went to Home Depot and bought another one - which was the exact same size as the one that didn't work.
Summer installed it herself but before she did - she plugged it in to make sure it worked!!
By the time I went to bed Tuesday night, I had put the bedroom back together and it was nice and cool.
Summer picked me up at 6:00 the next morning and at 7:30 I was in surgery.
By 10:00 Summer and I were at Starwood Diner having a great breakfast!
The patch on my right eye greatly affected my depth perception.
After I snapped this photo I was about to drink my coffee and spilled the entire cup on me and my brand new Chico's top!
I took a nice long nap and rested the rest of the day.
Brenda and Billy brought dinner in for us that night which was so kind of them.
Thursday morning was my post op appointment with Dr. Betty Tong.
Everything looked good and I knew the routine of drops three times a day and no bending down or lifting heavy things.
I love it when a plan comes together!
Do you remember where that saying came from?
We had breakfast at Chick-fil-A and then did errands - as in returning the defective AC!
I may have overdone it a bit as I slept in the next day and and didn't have much energy.
Then this morning (Saturday) I slept until noon and went back to bed at 1:00 and pretty much rested mot of the day.
I get lab work done later in August and I'm hoping my thyroid medicine has kicked in because I just stay tired all the time.
In other news.....
The Bells have been at Gulf Shores all week and have had the best time.
Mike's brother and his family as well as his parents all vacationed at the smae time and they did some night fishing!
They fished from the beach using a guide that flew a drone out with the bait to deep water.
Look what they caught!!
A twelve foot tiger shark!!!
The guide tagged and documented the catch and then they released it back into the ocean!
Amber has been so afraid of sharks but she actually touched it!!

Wow, that shark is an amazing catch. The sand sculptures are so good! I would never be able to make one so lifelike. Glad you have an air conditioner that finally works!
Looks like you and Summer eat a lot.
Glad Summer got the AC all taken care of for you. That must have been frustrating when the first one didn't work.
Nice that you and Summer could go to breakfast after your cataract surgery. Sorry to hear about spilling the coffee on yourself though.
those sand sculptures are amazing.
And you don’t? How rude.
You my dear, have the patience of Job! A brand new product and it is defective! So glad you have people there to help and was able to get it all fixed. So glad you listen to your body and rest so that you can heal and renew:) The sand creations are just amazing. Wonderful they are able to be there and have this family time.
Oh Linda, I sure hope the meds start to kick in and you get some of that vim and vigor back again. So sorry to have the coffee spill on you and that pretty new blouse. Its going to be wonderful to have your 2 eyes all bright and sparkly again.
So glad you could get that AC returned and get a new one installed. Those kinds of problems just make me crazy. Good you have special people that help out along the way.
Have a great day staying cool and rest and recuperate.
(((hugs)))

I get so aggravated when a brand new product doesn't work! It happens though doesn't it. I pray your eye heals quickly.
You guys did a great job on the sand creatures. They look so real.
I'm sure you're relieved to have the surgery done with ( except for the drops). And I'm sure you're more than relieved to have an A/C that actually works. It was so considerate of Summer to install it and stay to make sure it worked.
Those sand creations are so well done!!
Have a restful week!
I'm so glad you have AC and new lenses in your eyes!
A thought about your tiredness, have they checked to see if your anemic? Also with your caregiving, I am not surprised you are exhausted. Love you much!
I just love Summer. She makes everything easier and fun. Her smile makes me happy. Thankful your surgery went well, and you are on the mend. The sand art pics were excellent. I could almost smell the ocean breeze. What a catch, and thanks for sharing info on drones used for fishing. Been on thyroid meds for yrs. Needed adjustments are made as I age. Still lots of fatigue. Thank you again for an inspiring post.
Like everyone else, i love all the sand art youall created! What fun! I didn"t even know you were going. How nice for everyone. Ed and I never seem to get away anymore, although we're really content to stay at home. We used to vacation alone and with Ed, Jr., Kristi and the kids a lot, but with David's Chrone's disease and our aging problems, we don't go a lot.
It's great you're getting to spend time with your kids and grandkids. Fall will soon be here---and Fall can get really cool here in Virginia! I love the cooler months. Speaking of seasons, Summer's smile is always so sweet! Can you believe Thanksgiving will be here in a short time! I will be waiting to hear about yours---it's always so exciting!
Love you; hoping your eye are good to you now! Love you, Trudy
