Pecan Harvest and Pie!!!

Tuesday morning I was doing my quiet time in the gazebo when I noticed a visitor.

I believe the geckos think the fake sunflowers are real.
I treasure my mornings outside thinking, meditating, praying, and just being still.

Be still and know I am God.
I'm out there in the gazebo or on the kitchen deck for at least an hour.
This hour is so important as I start my day as it sets the tone of what will be.
Louis Dean usually joins me after I'm finished with my prayers and we are reading Cheaper by the Dozen - again.

Today was supposed to be Tuesday Treasures but I felt the need to stay home with Louis Dean.
He slept until noon and was a little discombobulated. Maybe a lot.
24/7 is becoming real to me and I am okay with that.

The pecan trees are dropping their harvest and we are out there everyday picking up pecans.

It's the beginning of what we hope is a bumper crop!

Louis Dean is a happy man although he's also compulsive/obsessive when it comes to certain things.

I baked two rich pecan pies this evening - thanks to Louis Dean!

As we were sitting outside on the driveway tonight, our sweet neighbor across the street brought her dog, Mocha, over to visit. I sent her home with the second pecan pie!!

And my neighbors matter to me!

This post format is entirely new for you, isn't it? I like it.
Those pies look so good and how sweet you sharing with your neighbor - Did Louis Dean like the dog? It will probably get tougher and tougher. Prayers.

Maybe he stayed up late tinkering?

With the pecans falling I couldn't help thinking how busy Louis Dean was going to be shelling all those pecans. The pie looks delicious. Pecan pie is one of my favorites.

Pecans are a favorite nut of mine. I am envious of your pecan tree! And I love pecan pies too. Enjoy your bounteous crop!

We have MANY pecan trees! 😊 Didn't even know what they were when we bought this farm, LOL . Our last BIG harvest was Winter before last-- we had so many pounds--- we shared with everyone. Last Winter not so many. At your hardware store you can buy a " pecan picker upper" tool--- it's like a little vacuum cleaner that you push outside and it picks up all the pecans with a rolling cage thing and it's very lightweight and easy to use--- no more bending over to pick up! 😊 Sure helps us.

PS-- Mr. Front Porch baked Sugared pecans and spicy pecans that year--- we gave them to friends at church and to family too.

The pie looked delicious. I'm sure your neighbor was pleased. Shelling the pecans will take a lot of time. Have a great day! :)
