Happy, creative and busy days around here this week!
Wednesday I decorated Louis Dean's bathroom in a special way and I am loving the way it's turning out!
Jesse has gifted LD sebveral beautiful dream catchers over the years, so I gathered them all up and used them on the batjroom door and on one of the walls - which happens to be behind the door.
He had a lot more John Wayne and western items than I thought.
God blessed me with some real treasures on Tuesday and that western lamp is perfect here.
I ordered a western style shower curtain as soon as I got home Tuesday.
It arrived on Friday and I was able to finish up his bathroom.
We all know how much Louis Dean loves all things John Wayne, guitars, music, Indian and western touches. The pottery piece on the shelf top right was a gift to Louis Dean years from Sherry years ago.
You must have a cowboy hat on the wall!
I've had the Texas lamp with a bullet shell on the pull chain for over 10 years but it's now found its place in his bathroom.
Louis Dean has a large doll collection including Oriental dolls, Little House on the Prairie and others including Native American. After all, he is a card carrying Cherokee.
I found two brand new tea towels on a recent Tuesday - and they fit right in with my theme.
To top it all off is a photo of Louis Dean from August 1959.
See his cowboy boots and brass belt buckle?
This was taken in New Mexico on his and Ellen's honeymoon.
I had some errands to run on Thursday.
I needed to shop Ollie's and Aldi and it's exhausting with my arthritic hands so I asked Louis Dean for his help. I wanted to stop at the hospital to see a friend on our way out so I drove atraight up Brenton which turns into William Brewster which runs to the frontage road.
We spied a huge pile of free firewood on the curb with the workers added more as we watched.
We did our errands and returned in the truck to load up!
The owner as well as the workers assisted LD in getting not one but two truck loads.
The owner was so kind in helping Louis Dean.
Louis Dean unloaded it all by himself before we ate dinner and fell into bed!
LD is a real man among men!
Dean and Sherry arrived later after we had gone to bed.
They had been to a karate event earlier and were spending the night with us.
It always feels like a holiday when friends and/or family are here!
I made a breakfast casserole and Sherry cooked some bacon and we all had a meal together before they headed back to the ranch to see about the critters.
Every morning I write on the chalkboard in LD's bathroom the date and whatever is planned for the day.
He did, indeed, deal with the firewood! He moved every single bit to the backyard!
While he worked outside, I worked inside. Seems I always have a project to work on.
I've been bringing in 'fillers' to decorate and fluff up the 'clean' rooms.
I still have the dining room, sewing room, guest room and the gazebo to clean and take Christmas down.
It will get done all in due time.
I used to push myself but now I take my time and enjoy the peace and contentment that restoring order from chaos brings me.
Saturday's menu for a dinner party!
Special cocktails for Ilene and me.....
The appetizer tray....Ilene really likes the smoked olives Dean made for me.
While we do not have the social life we once did, we still have small parties and that makes me happy.
It's good to have friends who are more like family and Ilene is that!
While Ilene and I sipped our cocktail, Louis Dean serenaded us.
After our entertainment, I put on the CATSmovie.
We ate dinner in the den.
Mac and cheese in the slow cooker.
It was a lovely Saturday night!
Our weather has turned cold again and I burned our last firelog.
Perhaps Louis Dean can cut up some firewood for us tomorrow.

Hi Linda. Looks like you have been busy, but have also had some fun. I love LD's "John Wayne Bathroom." It looks great! That old picture of LD from 1959 is a classic for sure. Glad you both had a good weekend. Have a good week. See you again soon!
I enjoyed hearing LD playing his guitar and singing. You sure did a great job decorating his bathroom a la John Wayne and the shower curtain was the icing on the cake!!!
Getting free firewood is a big bonus.
Have a great week.
The bathroom is awesome, a real man's room. I love the shower curtain especially! The chalkboard for Louis Dean is such a good idea!!
That bathroom looks awesome. I bet Louis Dean loved it. He sure is a hard worker. That's a lot of wood to unload all by himself.
I enjoyed hearing him sing and play guitar.
