At the Cabin We Forget to Count our Days......

This quote hangs on the mantel above the fireplace in the main cabin here in Loma Linda.

Each day has been such a blessing!

Leisurely mornings, lazy afternoons and cozy evenings!
The fireplace is the focal point and we are loving the sights and sounds of a crackling fire!

I made a pot of tea and needed some ice....
Louis Dean had been itching to knock off some of the icicles off the back deck roof.

Got a good chuck and chopped it up for me.

Everyone went skiing on Monday - except us.

Louis Dean was totally into sorting his music notebooks and spent just about the entire day doing just that!

I finally settled down with my laptop, notes and my diary from 1999 and, over the course of three days, I wrote chapter 31 of my memoir - 2,264 words!

Every morning we have been treated to THE best coffee - compliments of Jesse.

Love this pic of Jesse and Sam.

The young people have had fun around the table - eating meals together and playing games!

We spent Tuesday in Taos!

The weather was absolutely perfect!

We stopped at a scenic overlook to snap some pics!

So many quaint shops on the square in Taos.

Louis Dean was as happy as he could be!
He would sit in the sunshine and chat with people while I went in and out of the shops!

He did do a little browsing in a couple of them.

We ate lunch at the Farmhouse Cafe, did a bit more shopping and then took in a movie at the Storybook Theater.

Louis Dean was game for everything we did!

Ordinary Angels was our movie of choice and it was so good!

We had planned on eating at Orlando's - just as we had planned the last time we were here.
Alas, there was a two hour wait!
Next time we will eat first and see the movie after!

We came back to the cabin to eat and Louis Dean and I had a glass of wine before bed.

Jesse and Rachel would man the kitchen for breakfast and Louis Dean and I would clean up!

Every meal has been delicious!

Lunch one day was Rachel's chicken tortilla soup.
Amazing!!

Some took naps, some were reading and Jesse and I watched a movie.

WOW!

Even with all this good food, I have kept my calorie count in check.

That is until tonight!

We've had fresh snow every day.
For dinner tonight we had baked potatoes with chili topping (except for me) and snow ice cream for dessert!

Jesse brought in a large bowl of fresh powder snow and I added a can of sweetened condensed milk, some vanilla extract and a little cream.
This is always so fun to make and it was the first time for some of the group to ever eat any!
Nora said, "Is it safe to eat snow?"

In other news from home....

Dean and Sherry's house began its 3 mile journey to their property on Tuesday.

It was a slow go and they had to make some adjustments but by Wednesday evening....

it was ON their property!

By this afternoon - it was HOME!

Congratulations!!

I love hearing about all the fun you are having! I love LD's hat! WooHoo!

What a special time as family. God is expanding your family in happy ways.

I am so excited to see what Dean and Sherry do with that wonderful house!

Wow, to the last few pictures of that house being moved! How exciting! I've dreamed of doing that, but would never have the nerve to try! I can't wait to see what they will do with it as they get it settled into its new home! Now, to your time at the cabin, all I can say is, how I "envy" you, but that's not good, so I will say how happy I am for you to be there with loved ones and enjoying so much happiness and fun together! And all that snow! Wow! And snow ice cream! I've never made it...and as long as you don't use any "yellow" snow (LOL) it should be great! LOL. I am so happy for you to have this time with your family. You are truly blessed. Thank you for sharing the good times with us.

back in the 1950's it was safe to eat snow and we did, but who knows now. where you are is far away from the big city so you should all be fine. so glad you are having a wonderful time and love love love Dean and Sherry's old new home. are they going to connect it to their other house?
I am a little jealous. I always wanted an old house, a really old one. just like this one.
so glad you got that chapter done and I think it is restful for you because you have no PLANS to run here and there and doc visits. that might be why you can't track your days. we never go anywhere or do anything so we never know what day it is.

It sounds like a perfect vacation.
I have heard of snow icecream but never actually tried it.
