Our August Weekend.....Saturday and Sunday!

It's been a wonderful weekend!
Saturday was a Stay at Home Day.
No make up.
Comfy clothes.
A day to spend puttering around the house.
I worked on some of the plans for our Alaskan cruise which is coming up in just 33 days!

This photo popped up on my Facebook memories Saturday morning.
It was taken in May shortly after I met Louis Dean in April.
We married in June.
I love all the memories we have made together over the last 13 years.

Along about 6:30 we got our swim suits on and packed a couple of towels plus and overnight bag and met Amber and the kids at a church wide pool party.

I had such a good time watching this little synchro swimmer wannabe!!!
Reminds me so much of her mommy!
Just look at that toe point!

Can you tell which girl this is?

We went on over to spend the night in Quadville and went to church this morning.
Breakfast was the homemade cinnamon rolls Granddad took over to them.

After church, Granddad babysat while Amber, Mike and I went to the movies.
EQ2 was excellent!!
Amber and I have already planned a matinee in a few weeks to see the latest Mission Impossible.
We love a good movie!

We also did a little shopping this afternoon!

TJ Max! I got 4 new pairs of pants and will take all of them on my cruise!

My first time to ever buy jeans that look like this!!!

We had a good time together!!

I also picked up this fragrant candle.
Smells rich and luxurious!
Perfect for the fall.

And these coffees!!!
I opened the first one - Brown Sugar and Bourbon - and will have my first cup in the morning.
The other two I will save for September.

We came home this evening and I still had a job or two to do.
The first one was a chore - cleaning out the fridge.
I don't know how it gets to be such a mess.
We put some food in there that is perfectly good but I know we will probably not eat.
Then I wait until it gets old and moldy before I throw it away!
Makes no sense.
Why put it in there in the first place if I know we aren't going to eat it?
Guess I have a thing about throwing out good food!

My next job was a lot more fun.
I have three strands of lights out on the front porch so I took those down - which is not an easy task since they are all so intertwined! I replaced those and then added 150 lights to the wire strung up across the driveway.

I like  it.

We turned the bigger lights off after I took my pictures and sat out there with a glass of wine.

A couple were out walking and said, "We like your new lights!"
It looks like we are having a party!!
I turn them on at dusk and off when we go to bed.
And that's what we're about to do now.
It's after midnight.......

But before I go, I want to wish my sister, Luann, a very happy birthday!
She was born on August 5th, 1957.
We didn't grow up together but we are sisters!
I talked to her last night on the phone and she said she had birthday plans and it looks like she had a lot of fun!

Happy Birthday, Sister!!!

As little coffee as you use with your milk the flavor really doesn’t matter. There once was a professor where I worked that smoked a cherry blend in his pipe. To this day it’s a fond memory. Hope your candle smells that good.

I'm guessing the little swimmer is Kailey. Am I right? I don't drink coffee, but if I did I would want those fall flavors. How fun! The fifth of August seems to be a popular day for birthdays. It is my dad's birthday, my pastor's son's birthday and my great-granddaughter's birthday along with your sister. Happy birthday Luann!

Oh I know what you mean about leftovers! “My” chickens moved away so now it all just goes in the trash. I don’t feel good about that.

Taking a guess based on the “long” legs that Kailey is the swimmer in the video. She looks accomplished to me!

That’s a wonderful photo of you and your Beloved from thirteen years ago. You two got married “in a fever hotter than a pepper sprout...”

Linda , I love that picture of you and LD. He looks like he will protect you forever. Oh those little stick legs and pointed toes. I love it. I am not sure which , maybe the tallest one. Years ago when I wore some frayed jeans to work, my boss asked me if I need to work more to buy some good jeans. LOL. You will look so cute on the ship. I am so excited for you and LD to go. We want pictures, pictures and more. LOL You and Amber are so pretty in your photo. I would like a cup of that coffee. The lights look great. Makes me smile. Blessings for a wonderful new week. Love you,,xoxo, Susie

That coffee looks delicious. Saving for fall is a good idea. Something to savor in the cooler weather. We went to the movies, too. Saw Mission Impossible. Action packed. Love your lights.

I’m guessing it was Kailey!

Your weekend sounds good. I hate cleaning out the fridge because of food that doesn’t get eaten. Sigh...I need to learn to cook less food, now that the family at home is smaller!

You and Amber are looking good!

I love your sparkly lights!! I cannot tell which Quad is trying to be a sync swimmer...except it is not Harrison, ha ha! Is Amber teaching her? Nothing much better than shopping with your daughter! You will look good in those distressed jeans, and I bet they will be comfy too! Now I really want to go to T.J.Maxx...maybe today!!!

awww...I love lots of lights, too...both inside AND out....I don't have any on my pergola this summer...just never got around to adding them...
I love movies, too...going to see the new MAMA MIA with daughter and grand sometime this week...I think we have the same outdoor rug...this is the 4th summer for mine and it is beginning to show wear...I'll get another next summer....I bought my first pair of jean with holes in them just before Mr. Sweet passed...when I walked into his hospital room wearing them, he busted out smiling and said..."Sweetheart, I LOVE those on you...you look so "in"...lol

I haven't gone the distressed jeans way - not sure I ever will. It makes me giggle when I see the youngsters with so many slashes in their jeans that it is a wonder they stay up! happy birthday to your sis. Cheers

It sounds like you packed a lot into your weekend...from pool parties and sleepovers to movies and a few chores. Your TJMax finds look great. We are leavin* on a cruise next week, and I still need to organize my wardrobe.

Hi Linda, thanks for your comment on our blog about our current cross country road trip. We are having a lot of fun adventures and glad folks are joining us. Those coffees you bought are ones we would like as well since flavored coffee is our weekend treat. When we lived in VA we had white oights string along the back patio and they were on timers that would go on at dusk and stay on for several hours. And we enjoyed them as you do yours. A bit envious of your upcoming Alaska cruise plans as we plan to do that as well...but on a future road trip. Stay cool as we’ve been keeping up with the hot temps across the country but thankfully have been staying cool.
