Thank you all for every single thought and prayer for Baby Leah today!
I wanted to post earlier but it has been a busy day and even now I am in Quadville where Summer, Granddad and I all had dinner with Amber, Mike and the quads tonight. Granddad's Shake'N Bake Chicken and green beans were big winners as was the mashed potatoes. And the cake is all gone!
I asked Summer to do the following Guest Post tonight to give an update and explain a bit about the disease that took Leah's leg. By the way, Leah is Sabrina's great niece.....
So, here is Summer's update.....
Baby Leah's surgery was a success.
The surgeon was able to remove all the Trevor's disorder from her knee. Donna aka Nonna, Leah's grandmother, provided a good description of Trevor's. It s a very rare bone disorder that affects one in a million children It is three times more likely to happen to a boy than it is to a girl. They are tumors that grow in the long bones in the lower extremities. Usually in one leg or in the hip or in the ankle. Leah had it in both her knee and her ankle. Her knee was 3/4 covered in Trevor's and no chance for her to have any mobility in her left foot or knee.
Here is Baby Leah with her custom American Girl Doll named Rebecca. She has had her left leg removed as well. Plus, Rebecca is in her surgical outfit just like Baby Leah. We're so grateful for this little doll and the comfort it provides Leah.
Leah's nurse placed a pink bandage on Rebecca's left hand just like Leah had on her left hand. The thoughtfulness of the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital is amazing.
Leah will remain in the hospital for a little bit. The Mobility unit is already working on providing the wheelchair that Leah will use until it's time for a prosthetic. Continued prayers for Leah as the epidural has worn off and Leah is now taking other strong pain medication.
Thank you for all the prayers,
Summer

Thank you, Summer for that clear explanation! I’ll continue to pray. What a helpful thing for Leah to have that doll! Bless those nurses, too!

My husband and I have both been praying for her. I'm so glad she came through and hope she'll have a good recovery. How special to have that doll for her to play with and help. The doctors and nurses sure are special! What a blessing they are in these hard times. Hugs, Diane
Thank you for the update. We don't always get to know the answer to our prayers. Praying and hoping for a good recovery.
Bless her heart....prayers for a complete and uncomplicated recovery.
Thank you for the update and explanation. One of my prayers was that God would take the bad and use it for good and if having a prosthetic will allow her to walk when there was no hope she could then God indeed is at work.
Bless her. A long road ahead but I'm sure they have high hopes for a better life.
