A Fort Worth Kind of Day!

Friday is 'Beauty Shop' Day! Summer and Raynie joined us for lunch at BJ's in Hulen Mall. We had so much fun! (Even though Raynie doesn't look like it in this pic!)

She placed her order just like a big girl!
I don't think this was her first meal out......

however......it WAS her first trip to the mall!

Hulen Mall is getting a major face lift!
Wish I could say the same for the one in Irving.
I gave Raynie a penny to throw in the fountain and she knew just how to do it!

This was her time to see the 'rides!'
(Life will never be the same!)
While I did NOT put money in them - we did let her sit in one.
She LOVED it!
But she was so funny! She refused to sit in the driver's seat at first!
She would just buckle up and slide to the floor and look up.
She was more comfortable in the 'passenger' seat and eventually worked herself up to sit behind the wheel! Oh, WONDER!!!
Time enough for her to discover $$ will make the toys MOVE!!

Next we hit the playground.
She was SO excited!
KIDS!!!!!
And BIG toys!!
They had disinfectant foam as we exited so the germs were kept to a minimum!

It is wonderful being a grandparent!
I am proud I was the one to introduce my youngest grandchild to the adventures you can have in a mall!! And to the toys and fountains and playgrounds inside.
Raynie and I even perused Bath and Body Works where Mother was able to use her Christmas gift card.

Summer and I are both thrift store junkies so we HAD to stop at the one on McCart before our day was done! I found a darling little jumper for Raynie - but I let Summer take it on home with her.
This SUPER cute vest is SUPER soft!
Not bad for $3.93.....WHERE do they get these ODD prices??
It looks like tiny little rosebuds all bunched together.
It is missing one star button.
I am thinking of alternating a stars and different sparkly buttons - which I hope to find in my rather extension button collection!
This will make a PERFECT Valentine's gift for her!

Fridays are always special but this one even MORE so!!

Summer and I talked later on the phone this afternoon and she made a comment that has caused me to think.

She said the world of the very young and the old have many similarities.
Food for thought, don't you think???

Nice that 4 generations were together and had such a good time also. These are moments to cherish. Luann

Yes, I think we can return to a more childlike state for sure. My grandmother began enjoying dolls and teddy bears again and I have just bought that child's set of dishes. Oh dear. =/

Your little grand is a cutie pie, but I must tell you, I was just marveling at your restraint for not putting the money in the machine. How wise! She never knew the difference and had just as much fun.

Your granddaughter is adorable! She sounds super smart as well. I agree that the young and the old have many similarities, the first one which pops into my mind is honesty. Young children haven't learned how to lie yet and I believe that when we age we've learned our lessons and become totally honest... well most elderly people, not all.

Have a fantastic weekend!

I hope somewhere along the way you got a picture of all four of you. How cute Rayne is. I always have enjoyed seeing children doing things and discovering things for the first time. It makes you look at the world in an entirely different light.

You should have popped in that picture for a nice generational shot! How lucky and blessed you are to still have your mom. My mother loved to shop and we hit the mall constantly! Those were the days. Enjoy them!

Raynie is just the sweetest thing! I love the wooley little vest. And yes I agree with Summer...maybe that's why grandparents and grandchildren have such an affinity for each other!!

XO,
Jane

She is a little doll! She reminds me of my great neice. So glad that y'all had a fun day together. Looks like you have such a sweet family. I think Summer is right. I've often noticed the bond between very young and very old.

What an absolute darling your grandaughter is. I bet you just love her to pieces. That vest you found was so super cute. You really scored a good deal on that one. I totally think the young and old are similar. I see a lot of young in my grandmother these days. It's quite precious. Hope your enjoying your weekend!
