Long Slow Day Ends With Music in the Gazebo!

I am used to long days but normally they are seldom slow!

This morning I slept until after 10:00 and didn't leave the bedroom until 11:00.
It had rained in the night so we gathered in the den to read and then watch Alaskan Bush People - a refreshing change from the news!

Louis Dean has been manning the kitchen and I just avoid going in there as much as I can.
He makes good meals and serves them with a smile! Once I return to full duty that kitchen will require quite a bit of deep down cleaning. The floor is littered and the counters are sticky. The fridge is bulging and the stove is greasy but Louis Dean proudly informed me that he's been cleaning up after himself!

Today he made bacon and eggs with toast and coffee for lunch. After wards I left them to watch TV and I went back to bed.....

and I stayed there until late this afternoon. I was just so tired.

I cleaned my bedroom yesterday so this evening I cleaned my teeny tiny bathroom!

You wouldn't think it would take too long but I was working in there for a couple of hours.
The shower and the floor took awhile since I moved everything out and organized things.

I love my bathroom.

The scripture cards I keep out to read have been extra meaningful for me today.
I have held my heart in prayer for much of this day.
This morning I learned that a dear friend to us over the years is in the hospital. He had a tear in his aorta and is now in a coma. Vee and John have prayed over our lives and our family and now it is time to earnestly pray for them.

While I worked inside, Louis Dean worked outside.
He put down the glass blocks to use in the walkway earlier this week.
Today it looked to me like he was playing in the mud but he said he was preparing an area for the storage building he's buying soon.

We decided to end our Friday in the gazebo.
It was light when we first came out here and here we are hours later - still in the gazebo.
Louis Dean fixed big fat sandwiches for us so we ate out here and then he brought out his guitar and started singing and playing.

A perfect way to end the day.

Louis Dean is singing and playing and Mother and I are smiling and listening.

The weather is nice and there's even a bit of a chill in the air so Mother has a blanket over her legs and I think I need to get a sweater,

He sang mostly hymns with a few folk songs thrown in for good measure.

Mother is loving it!

This one is for my friend, Jutta,
She and Louis Dean sang it together when she was visiting us from Finland last year.

Tomorrow is an extra BIG day for our family!!!
We celebrate the Quad's FOURTH birthday!!!!
Since I'm 'laid up' I haven't been over there helping with the party preparations and I really do miss doing that. Wild horses couldn't keep me from being at the party though!
Amber has a dinosaur theme and the kids are so excited - as are we all!!

Be careful about your toe tomorrow at the party. Is there actually enough space somewhere for Louis Dean to put up a storage shed? The glass tiles look good. Better enjoy those cool evenings in the gazebo, they won't last long.

I hadn't read Vee's post yet, so thank you for letting me know about John. Praying for him.

Have fun at the party today. I can hardly believe they are four already. Not babies anymore.

Tell LD thank you for the concert. I was singing along with him.

I am so sorry about what has happened to your friend. Louis Dean's song is a prayer in itself. I've been following your recovery on Facebook, don't be cleaning stuff yet.

Farther along is one of my favorite songs. the perfect end to a long productive day... i always smile when you say things like I love my bathroom... i can't tell you how many times i walk from the hall into our living/dining/kitchen and say I just LOVE this room... I LOVE my kitchen table with sunbeams on it. i love the sunbeams on the fridge. i love the size of the room, it is HUGE ...17 wide and 37 long.. the whole middle to the house from front door to sliding glass door into the yard.. it is good to love where we live... just walking into the room makes me happy.

Linda, After doing some work , it's so nice to relax in the new gazebo and be serenaded . I could see your mom was loving that. It's peaceful and we need days like that also. I want to send Birthday wishes to the quads. Thank you so much for sharing them with us, for sharing your life with us also. Blessings to all, I love you guys, xoxo, Susie

I cannot wait for the party post!!! I am now thinking of nominating L.D. to sainthood! How much better can it get? He cooks, waits on you with a smile, does chores and then sings to you at the end of the day. I am so sorry you are still so laid up! When does the doctor say you will be back to normal? Are you still going to have the other foot done? I have been going to all the Goodwills for you, six altogether. And have gotten quite a haul! Wait till you see the fishbowl bookcase I got for the girls! I saw it in the donation center and talked them into pricing it and bringing it in the store. I know you would have done the same thing! Rest up and get well soon, my friend.

Happy happy 4th birthday to your quads! You really have a keeper in that husband of yours. What a sweetheart. I do understand the concept of having to do a deep clean in the kitchen when you are back on both feet!! My heart and prayers go out to our dear Vee and John...ellen b. at the Happy Wonderer.

No matter how your kitchen looks when you are up and about again, be thankful he is trying. Some would not. You are blessed.

A mans idea of clean is usually different from a woman's idea of clean!! Happy Birthday to the Quads. I look forward to seeing pictures of the party!!

Where did those four years go? Happy, happy birthday to your quads!

My heart has been heavy for Vee this past week...and I have been in touch with her. Thanks for the call to prayer...we know that prayer changes things.

I totally understand your wanting to sleep. Since I've been on these weird meds for my skin (and who would think they would be so potent), I have been tired as can be. I sleep till 11:00 and after getting dressed and a few chores, I want to take a nap. We women are wired to feel guilty about that...at least I do.

Oh, yeah. My hubby will whip up something as easy as popcorn and leave the pot and butter and greasy bowls like he has maid service. On top of it, he never helps with the dinner dishes so he has no clue what it takes to clean up a mess. Ugh...

Happy Birthday to the Quads. Wow! 4 years!!!!
