I cleaned up the art table on Thursday to prepare for our dinner party that night.
I packed it all up in my art tub that I keep under the table in the sewing room.
From art table to dining table!
Cocktails and appetizers served in the den at 7:00.
Our guests!
Joni and Bernie!
Joni is Nita's sister-in-law from her first marriage.
Nita and Bill divorced but they remained friends and Nita stay in the family relationships with her mother-in-law and family.
As we were visiting in the den, I asked Bernie if he could straighten out my TV.
Somehow either Louis Dean or I accidently pushed a wrong button and activated the Voice Assistant and it was driving me crazy! He is my hero!
He figured it out and the voice is gone!
Thank you, Bernie!!
Chloe is Joni's beautiful granddaughter.
Ilene joined us for dinner and we all had a lovely evening.
Dinner was served at 8:00
Joni brought a great salad and my favorite bottle of wine.
A New Zealand Sauvignon blanc!
I made a seafood fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and crab, cheeses, garlic, cream.....so good and so rich!
Dessert was Neiman Marcus bars - named because it is also really rich!
It was an evening full of good food, good wine, good friends, good conversation and a lot of laughter!
We lingered long at the table and I think that's the sign of a successful dinner.
How could it not be??
We are hoping to get together once each season if we can.
And if we don't plan it, we will never do it!
True in so many areas of life!
Friday morning the table was set up for art again!
However, I haven't painted as of yet but I have that on my planner for tomorrow!
I was up early on Friday in order to take the trash out.
Louis Dean has been moving things out of his room by putting all sorts of stuff in tubs and taking them outside.
He doesn't even know why he does some of the things he does but I try to go out and rescue things that need it - like his winter parka and sweaters that got wet even though they were in tubs - with ill fitting lids!
And some tubs are filled with trash. Papers, empty wine bladders, old batteries. I never know what I'm going to find.
Every trash day I take bags of stuff to the curb.
If it doesn't fit in a trash bag, I put it on Stephanie's curb.
Ilene arrived for our weekly movie night at 7:00.
I had made an extra seafood casserole and dessert ready to take to the neighbors across the street.
She walked over with me to take dinner in and I was happy she met our sweet friends.
Our movie choice for this week.
This was a good one!
I am decorating for fall. I know it's early but it takes so much longer for me this days that I must start earlier. The den is done and it makes me happy when I walk in there.
The living room and foyer are mostly done and part of the kitchen.
I'm taking my time and not trashing the whole house this time.
Step by step.
Here a little, there a little.
I'm still saving my September First traditions for my favorite day of the year but the decorating will be done so I can enjoy seeing it a little longer.
Today (Sunday) I made a breakfast for lunch casserole.
I sliced up a baguette and arranged it in a buttered bundt pan.
Then I mixed up four eggs, some chopped ham, the rest of the fresh salsa from Aldi, cheeses, cream, seasonings and poured it over the bread before topping it with more cheese and a sprinkle of parsley.
It was delicious!
I served it with sour cream and fresh fruit!
This afternoon, Louis Dean and I drove over to Plano to watch the girls play in a hockey tournament, which they won!
I was looking forward to being cold but it wasn't!
Our beautiful Amber and sweet Kailey!
I was thinking Trystan would be more my height but even she has outgrown me.
We stayed after the game and visited together.
The kids were just back from summer church camp on Friday and I was excited to hear about their week! They are such sweet teenagers and we are all so enourmously proud of them and their parents!
We are so thankful for our family and our friends who are like family to us.
Our life is so full and I am so grateful!

What a wonderful weekend you had. Lots of fun going on there. All the food looks delicious. I love breakfast foods any time of day and have often had breakfast for dinner.
What a wonderful dinner party! I keep wanting to have one, and you've motivated me to plan it! I will plan it after the wedding this weekend!
I've seen that movie and loved it, too!
Glad you have started your fall decorating. September will be here before we know it!
The kids are taller than you - cute. Great party you threw. Those eggs looked great.
