I had plans for this day but decided to stay home and rest.
It's a good thing I got a whole lot of deep sleep early on because I didn't sleep well last night.
I really regret scalding my habd yesterday.
I was making tea and pouring boiling water over a silver knife in a glass pitcher.
I've done that so many times and never a problem......until yesterday.
My hands already looked like they are 100 years old and now these huge blisters are going to age them even more. Nita reminded me to put Emuaid on it and that has helped.
I won't take a picture of my hand but if I did - it looks like something you would see on Halloween!
I had a nice surprise this afternoon!
Summer ordered cookies to be delivered and they were still warm from the oven!
Louis Dean and I halved one of the brownies and that was the first real BITE I've taken since Wednesday morning. It was a bite to remember!!!
Fall is winding down and I am a bit melancholy about that.
I packed away all of the Halloween themed decorations this morning and Louis Dean and I put them away in the storage building. I like the clear tubs better so I can see what I have.
Can you peek into the dining room back there on the right?
I still have art out from Tuesday and discovered a Sunflower canvas I had set up on a shelf but forgot to finish it.
I worked on it a bit more this afternoon and will finish it tonight and let it dry before glazing.
Since I already have such a big bag of names from the Sledding Santa drawing......
I decided to draw one out for this Sunflower canvas.
Here I go......
Linda Hillin!!
I will mail this off to you as soon as it gets dry enough to wrap up!
I'm going to keep my Bag of Names to use whenever I paint an extra painting or two.
Tomorrow we are going to Quadville to hang out for the day and Amber said she would help me order my Christmas Card for this year.
I used to send out cards and then for whatever reason, I didn't.
I'm going to use the pic of my Sledding Santa with the yellow sky.
I would love to send you all Christmas Cards!
While I have lots of your addresses already, if I don't have yours - please send it to me in an email.
Debbie West won the Sledding Santa and she is a gifted photographer and often uses her work for cards. I am playing copy cat with her idea! I have framed many of the cards she has sent me over the years and use them as seasonal art.
Guess who came to celebrate Friday night with us???
Summer and Rayne were just what the doctor ordered!
Rayne is the sweetest little girl and we enjoyed every single minute with her.
She can raise her eyebrows so high she could give her Aunt Amber a run for her money!
Eventually Rayne will return to her Puerto Rico home so I am lapping up the time we get to spend with her.
She does love her Mummers.
We ate Chick Fil A el fresco......
thank you, Summer - not only for the Cookies that arrived earlier - but for bringing dinner tonight.
While Summer and Louis Dean sat and talked on the driveway, Rayne and I went to the backyard to play hide and seek.
Can you spy her?
There she is!
We had so much fun!
She found another cool hiding spot behind the French doors that open to the outside of the sewing room.
Summer took this photo as Rayne and I watched the moon rise up and over from under our pecan tree. It helps that I don't look as bad as I thought I did. I had lost so much bone support that my face seems to have filled out and some of the wrinkles have been stretched back. I like that!
Granddad played music for us......
and Rayne kept us entertained.
She even talked to me about her adventures with Hurricane Maria.
She said the evening before had really been 'quite nice.'
I think it's a good thing she can talk about it all.
I'm not sure I would have been as brave as she was.
Then it was time for Granddad to read The Ghost Eye Tree by Bill Martin.
Louis Dean knew him personally and this book was a gift from the author with a note written on the flyleaf. It is one of Louis Dean's most treasured possessions.
Rayne was totally engaged.
What a treasure this evening has been!
And now I shall bid you all a Good Night!

Wonderful Friday! What a bright spot Summer and Rayne were for you!
I agree with C.S. Lewis!
I hope you are on the mend with your dental work, Linda!
I am so glad you were well enough to play! Yes, Rayne is a good hider...I could not even find her. You look SO good!! And I am excited about your generous giveaways!

I could not find Rayne at all. She's a precious girl, and I hope Summer feeling better.
You've been through it with the dentistry---and you look really great, Linda. Good for you and Louis!
Happy November!

Keep healing...are you doing gentle warm salt water rinses? I find those so soothing after dental surgery. You look fabulous! Wonder if I can hope to look so well. 😉 BTW, congrats to the winners of your paintings!
Linda, So glad you did rest. How sweet of Summer, to send treats and come visit with treats too, especially Rayne. You do look very pretty Linda,I think you are happy. :):) What a beautiful memory for Rayne, her granddad reading to her . Blessings to all, love you, xoxo, Susie
Sure hope you're feeling better Linda! My Joey just burned his little finger too. Raw potato and aloe plant is definitely the way to go. I've also been down with yet another UTI and a nasty virus to boot. Yuckkkkk!!!! We lost Dad on September 22nd and all this stress has gotten me so run down. My heart is full of hurt. I just can't believe my Daddy is gone!
For some reason I can't send this in an email.

Those sweet kind of treats in life can make us feel a whole lot better for sure ! There is no doubt that little one is a gift to you all ! Hope you continue to feel better !
Rayne is beautiful and that video is so adorbable and I love the still shot of her with the silly smile. I rushed over to google search to see WHY you were pouring boiling water on a silver knife and now I know why. I had not heard of that. I did find an article that said although it works it should not be doen. here is the link on why not to do it. but it did not mention because you might blister your hand. so sorry you are hurt, can't imagine how bad that was.

So sorry about your hand, nothing hurts like a burn. Glad you were able to have a great evening and I think you look really good; hope the healing continues with speed.
Mouth pain and hand pain is a lot to be endured Linda...hoping today is a better day for you. We are in the recovery mode here as well. We will spend a quiet week here at home. But then, I think that is a good thing every now and then. My sister sent me a picture of the pretty trees at Grimmwood and I was so sad I am missing them. We will go there for Thanksgiving. Love seeing Rayne and Summer. Summer looks like she is feeling much better...what a blessing. Girl, you know I want one of those Christmas cards!! I may make an ornment with it to take to Grimmwood. You are so talented.
Hope your mouth and hand are doing better, how painful.
Rayne is adorable! I loved the video, and all the pictures of her with you and LD.
Rayne visiting Friday nite and you heading to Quadsville Saturday, sounds like a “Grandma,s” dream weekend🙂
I think you had the best medicine for your sore mouth and hand -- Summer and Rayne. How thoughtful of Summer to send you the treats and then bring dinner by. I think it's awesome that LD knew Bill Martin. He's one of my favorite children's authors. I know Rayne will remember him reading it to her forever.
I really like your blog! I have now followed you and will be looking forward to reading more of your posts!☺☺
You are just having a bad time of it aren't you? So sorry. Hope that hand gets well soon. I want to see some more paintings. YOu are one talented gal!
I enjoyed your photos...Rayne is beautiful! (But you already knew that!)
I love sunflowers...you did a great job on those. I wish I had a talent for painting. I'd probably paint on my walls instead of canvas. lol
Those goodies...yummy! I'm glad you were able to enjoy some bites while they were warm.
I hope by now your mouth and your hand are doing so much better...
