Into the Woods!

Ruth Ann and I are committed to walking together at least twice a week.
We had planned to walk the mall until I saw some photos by our dearly loved Ladybug from Texas!
which she posted on Facebook this morning! It was a beautiful day!!! Too pretty to walk INSIDE!!
I remembered this jogging trail right here in Irving so that's where we walked. I MEANT to bring some peanuts for the squirrels - but I forgot. This is the only place I feed squirrels. Remember - Louis Dean has a grudge against them!

Ruth Ann said this trail reminded her of the movie we saw on Tuesday -
'Into the Woods.'

The trees did look a tiny bit wicked!

We are not overdoing things. Just trying to get back in the habit of regular exercise for two older ladies. Or - as my mother's doctor puts it - ladies of a certain level of maturity!

I came home and started in getting our gazebo cleaned out and up and ready for spring occupancy!!!

I got a bit distracted by the songs the mockingbird was singing!!!
I suppose that's our favorite bird!

Thursday is Music Jam Session night for Louis Dean and due to all the sickness - both ours and the quads - he had not been in a LONG time!
He meant for me to go with him but I was in a bit of a somber mood and, quite frankly, needed a little time to myself.

SO! I sent him on his way and I turned my hand to fluffing up the sewing room!

I lit a candle even though, technically, it's not really clean yet.
I opted to save the vacuuming for tomorrow when I will just bite the bullet and do the entire house!
Vacuuming is my LEAST favorite household chore!!!!

I worked on the quads' bunny rabbits and listened to my daughter in law give a speech at the same time!!! I am loving my iPad and I am so proud of my daugher in law!!! She works with ARC of Texas and was an important key note speaker at a recent convention.

Only one more session to put in some last details and the bunnies will be ready to go home!

I do so love our gazebo!
It's like having a whole other 'room!'
It's decorated in 'shabby.' Not Shabby Chic - just comfy 'shabby. I like to think of it as my version of the cottage in 'On Golden Pond.'

This is our mascot!!!
He looks real, doesn't he???
Our favorite thing to do is watch geckos!
We have a yearly contest as to who sees the very FIRST one of the season!
Just as Summer and I have a contest as to who hears the very FIRST locust (cicada)!
I will try to be modest when I say that I nearly ALWAYS win!!!!
That's because I do not spend most of my days in an office as she does.
Once she told me, "MOM! WORK is SO time consuming!!!"
I love our little traditions.

So this was my view from my rocking chair tonight. We purchase two from Cracker Barrel to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary! That was an OLD post!!! I just went back to look at it myself!! Anyway, I heard the bubbling sound of Louis Dean's diesel truck coming home!
I was ready for his company! A little 'alone' time was wonderful but I wouldn't want too much of it!
He asked me if I wanted a glass of wine......

never tell a husband from TEXAS that you want a BIG glass!!!!
Let me tell you, that man of mine really knows how to lighten my mood!!!

So here is where tonight's journal entry ends!
I have some serious wine to drink!!!!
By the way - it was just WATER in that huge goblet!!!
He came back with a more normal glass!!!

Love your walk in the woods. I plan to walk our complex and then when the weather warms up, swim every day in he pool. I still haven't got myself over to the YMCA. The class is at 9 am and that when the freeway is bumper to bumper...I can't handle that right now. I chose to go places after the commuter traffic is gone. The one thing I dislike about LA.

Your sewing room looks so happy.... I have to vacuum tomorrow too, and mop the wood floors.

I don't think I've ever heard a mocking bird. That was really interesting!

Isn't it nice that the weather has finally warmed up? As soon as the snow is gone, I am going to move outside also. I don't have a gazebo, just a patio, but I love it.

I love the fence picket bunnies you made with the quads! You think of the best crafts! I am so glad everything is back to normal for you, and spring is in just a few days! I love your Easter basket and eggs! We do not have geckos here. So I only get to see them in Geico commercials. That mockingbird is very talented, as they all are.

What a full day. That big 'ole Texas wine glass gave me a much needed laugh this morning. I so enjoy visiting with you, if only virtually. :D

Wow...I was wondering if that's how you are able to sleep a morning away. That Louis Dean! It must be wonderful to get out and walk with a friend...great way to get back up to speed. The bunny fence stiles came out sooooo cute! The Quads are going to love them!

You do love to clean...and for some crazy reason, I just love to read about it. (Just bought my second bottle of Fabuloso. Don't think that I'd be able to give it up now.)

Linda, I loved hearing the mockingbird. I do not hear them here. LD cracked me up with that big glass of "wine" ..he's so funny. I know what you mean about liking quiet alone time...but not too much of it.. The fence bunnies are looking so cute. Blessings to all , xoxo,Susie

That was the first time I've ever heard a Mockingbird. How pretty!
We all need some 'alone time' Linda. When a mum and grandma is as busy and involved as you are, that alone time becomes essential. I'm glad it refreshed you.

The trees are beautiful! What a lovely place for a walk. I am another reader who had never heard a mockingbird before! Our spring birds are starting to sing now too although snow still thickly covers the ground...

Hi Linda, your walk in the woods looks very calming. Sometimes we all need a little time alone to 'think our thoughts' X

Love, love the boots and the Texas theme on your blog! I've missed you and I have a lot to catch up on. Just been a bit challenged around here. That's a beautiful place to walk! I can't wait to have good weather to get out and about and take longer walks. I feel like we've "lived" in either the Midwest or NE recently, then Seattle with all the rain and Amarillo today with the wind.

Glad you enjoyed your alone time ~ I have always needed it and treasured it. I have it all the time almost but still enjoy! :)

Good for you for getting into "exercise mode". I'm longing to do the same but we've had rain somewhat consistently for 2 weeks. Spring is late to come here this year because we've had no sunshine. The forecast for the next week is finally looking better. If we can get a day or two of sunshine Spring will be beautiful after all the rain...And you can tell us the glass really did have wine. *wink *wink

Here, the roads are finally clear enough to walk and, with the increased afternoon light, I started up again last week. It's so good for us!! I love your gazebo - doesn't look too shabby to me!
