"LIFE is Fragile! Handle With PRAYER!"

Last week we were once again reminded just how fragile life can be.
God has been so very gracious and merciful to us.
In the wee hours of Friday morning I took Louis Dean to the hospital where God used  the Baylor Angels to watch over him.
After Dr. Yepes inserted a third stent in a blocked artery (he already had two stents from a major heart attack two years ago.) He is now on his way to a good recovery. Dr. Yepes did an EXCELLENT job! He said it was complicated and tricky to get that stent in since his 'river' (artery) did not run straight! It was extremely twisted and curvy! But he DID it!

He did NOT have another heart attack! It is so important to recognize the signs and get help in time to  prevent one! This makes for a much easier recovery for LD this time around!

In spite of the seriousness of the situation, Louis Dean kept the nurses and staff entertained.
He sang Marty Robins songs to Toni and some other nurses! They were all so good natured and kidded with him the entire five days he was in the hospital.
My daughter in law and brother in law were both blessings -
taking me out to eat and then Roy repairing our A/C......
as well as so many friends and family members who kept us in their prayers and encouraged us with calls, texts and Facebook comments.
Let me just say......I LOVE Facebook!!
It is like having a prayer chain and support system at the stroke of a key!

Summer brought little Abby up to take our minds off things as we were waiting for Louis Dean's turn in the operating room! She is a charmer and I saw many people smile as they walked by her!

It was remarkably easy to entertain Abby! She is at the age where she is fascinated with just about everything! Including water from the faucet!

Summer and Abby weren't the only ones keeping me company!
Brenda used her lunch hour to come up and check on us!

White Chocolate Island  cookies to share with the 'angels.'
Basically a chocolate chip cookie recipe using white chocolate chips
and a cup each of coconut and finely chopped pecans.
Though certainly NOT heart friendly even the doctors enjoyed a couple of them!

I am absolutely in awe of the work the nurses and doctors do.
When a new patient comes in a whole new story begins.
Every room....every patient has their own 'story.'
And they minister to each and every one.

I saw many people grieving and in pain while we were there.
These were the families. Then the patients themselves.
Not all stories have 'happy' endings.
I am so very grateful ours did!

I applaud the work done at Baylor Medical in Irving and each and every person working there.
From the cleaning ladies to the food servers to the doctors, nurses, assistants.....ALL!

We are home now and Louis Dean is doing well. He is tired to the bone but that is to be expected.

He is also having to adjust to a more healthy diet!
He has been eating fairly well even before this but we are watching what we eat even closer now!

One of the spring Texas thunderstorms rolled in this afternoon.
Our power went out and we had lit all the candles and
were watching the rain when another beautiful Angel arrived at our door.
Brandy grew up in this neighborhood and she came bearing ROSES!
 Louis Dean's favorite flower!!!
They are nearly as beautiful as Brandy!
How sweet of her take the time to come over and visit!

I close my post this evening with a heart full of gratitude!
And I am thankful to be spending this cool and rainy spring evening with my husband!

So glad things went well for Louis! I second that for nurses; our daughter is an ICU nurse.

Oh wow, I'm so happy that everything is going to be okay. Eating more healthfully is not the worst thing that can happen. Your hubby seems like quite the character and it has to be healthy to have a happy heart. Praying that his recovery is swift and his grit is great. (It's not easy saying no to a piece of pie.) Thinking of you, too, and saying a prayer for you both.

So happy that all went well!

Louis Dean is now up-to-me, in number of stents! We each have 3 now. I avoided a heart attack also.

Ahhhh yes, the even-more-careful eating. :-)

Gentle hugs...

So Glad you're both home and resting. I hope next year Pamela will be one of those nurses you talk about.
I'll keep you and LD in my prayers!

We have so much to be thankful for. How sweet for the angel Brandy to show up with roses it just goes to show the kindness that you and Louis Dean have for others is not in vain. It means a lot then people show their appreciation.

That was some good news Linda. How sweet that Louis Dean sang to them. I'm sure they wish more would. My daughter called while I was writing this (she's a nurse) and we have enjoyed your post together. Happy Saturday.

Of course I commented here before. So happy to hear all the good news! But this must have been one of the places that comments got zapped, in the Blogger Meltdown.

I have just caught up with your news, Linda. You're the second blogger I've visited today who has had a loved one hospitalised this week with heart trouble. So glad to hear that Louis Dean is on the mend. You look so calm in these photos - it must have taken a lot of inner strength to maintain that calm outlook for him. Sending you and your family good wishes from Scotland.
