Yesterday was a very LONG day!!!
Louis Dean and I woke up at 6:00 AM - so NOT our usual time!
We left the house by 8:30 and headed north.
Traffic was bad due to morning rush hour and construction.
We stopped in Denton at a Cracker Barrel for a much needed cup of coffee and breakfast.
We crossed over into Oklahoma thinking we had a LOT of time to get to our destination.
Although we left early, we arrived just 15 minutes before the funeral service for a dear friend of mine.
I loved JW. I love Melba - his lovely wife - even more!
She and I were homeschooling moms together. While I homeschooled Amber and Benjamin, she was homeschooling her granddaughter.
A more beautiful lady - inside and out! - you will never meet.
She and Jay were married 38 years and they were my role model of what a marriage could be like.
We drove straight there, attended the service and drove straight back.
We had just stopped at the rest area at the Texas state line when Summer called me.
She had posted about having an accident on Facebook and wanted me to know she was okay.
A motorcyclist had cut her off on a freeway and in order to avoid catching his back wheel she swirled into the barricade of the HOV lane at 70 miles an hour! The bike and rider sped blithely away as she was sliding and bumping along the concrete with all her air bags deploying and plowing into her!!
Praise God she is not severely injured! She had to keep driving in order to prevent certain death from oncoming cars behind her.
Bruised and discombobulated, she made it home safely and reported the incident to her insurance company. Rayne made everything better by just being RAYNE!!
Thank the Lord and his angels that Summer wasn't killed!!
If she had NOT jerked her wheels into the concrete - that motorcycle driver would have certainly met his death because her vehicle would have run over him.
Where ever he is - I hope he knows how his life was spared last night and hopefully he will have learned a lesson and not be such a reckless driver - not only putting himself but others in jeopardy.
By the time we were back in Irving we were in dire need of food and refreshment.
A top shelf margarita and a low fat, low calorie, heart healthy meal for me.
Chicken fried steak, french fries, gravy, green beans and a Shiner Bock for HIM!
THEN he ordered ANOTHER order of french fries and MORE gravy!
We went straight to bed when we got home.
We did NOT pass GO nor did we collect $200!!!
We slept for 11 hours!
This morning I had a follow up appointment regarding an abnormal mammogram
and I am so happy to say that all is well.
Louis Dean's beloved first wife lost her life to breast cancer and to say that he was concerned for me is an understatement. I called him with the good news as soon as I left the hospital!
We celebrated over lunch with Roy and Ruth Ann!!!
The guys went back to work and Ruth Ann and I hit up the thrift stores!
After all - it was TUESDAY!!!
My treasures!!
A silver tea set for tea parties with the grands.
a doll stroller - with THREE grand quad girls ONE is not enough!!
a Neiman Marcus denim and gold bag,
a potty/step stool which I will keep outside. (the quads play outside as much as possible while the weather is so nice and this keeps tracking sand from the sand box inside to a minimum.)
a silky cover,
a sweet white top,
I couldn't pass a Richard Paul Evans book!
napkin holder and vintage Campbell soup mugs for the camper,
AND I am a sucker for a pretty lamp shade!!
Coach mud boots!!!!
We ARE going to the ranch soon and it DOES rain down there making mud boots a NECESSITY!
I even found a couple of things for Louis Dean!
This flannel shirt.....
and this SUPER cool denim shirt with khaki elbow patches!!!
My favorite find of the day - AFTER the Coach mud boots - was this elegant comforter!!!
At $12.63, it was a steal and has set the theme for the camper bedroom.
The photo doesn't show it but these pillows match the comforter.
No art class tonight and no movie this afternoon.
We are in work mode!
Ruth Ann helped Louis Dean get the plywood ceiling section up!!
Isn't she CUTE??
We ARE making progress!!!!
Tomorrow is Quad Day here but we plan on getting an early start on Thursday and are in a
Get 'R DONE mode!!!

Summer's accident is so scary! She had good reflexes and thank God everyone is alright! She must have some effects from the airbags, though. Those Coach boots must have cost a fortune new! They are so cute! I love the two shirts you got for L.D., they are very special.
P.S. So glad about your test! I had a mammogram scare at the end of last year.
First of all, so thrilled with the good news of your mammogram results. God is good. What a storehouse of finds at your Goodwill. I would love to visit your store.
So sorry about your friend but good you could attend the service.
My heart stopped for a second when I read about Summer and her accident. Oh My, I'm so glad the Guardian angels were there!
Have a great week, girlfriend. Love and Hugs.
Summer has a good head on her shoulders to avoid that accident. How scary! I hope she is OK and any bruises and/or aches she has are minimum.
You always find so much at your Goodwill. Great haul this week. I'm trying to give things to them rather than bring any more into this house. But when I see your finds I'm tempted to just buy!
So sorry for the loss of your friends husband. I can't imagine.
Glad Summer is ok. Praying the soreness heals soon.
Praising God for Amber's protection in that freeway fracas. I i agine that she may be feeling a bit stiff from it all so we are praying for her. I am sorry for your friend's loss. Such is life, but we don't have to like it.
That Ruth Ann comes in mighty handy! What a good helper. =D
Nice finds once again, too. I like the boots! Fashion statement at the ranch.
Happy Quad Camp today!
So glad Summer was ok..I have heard about three people who have been injured because they were riding on motorcycles or they were in a vehicle and cut off by a motorcycle. I am not a fan. I had a dear cousin who perished while riding his motorcycle back when we were teenagers. Looking forward to seeing the camper all finished.
Oh, how frightening this must have been for Summer.....thank the good Lord she is ok. I love seeing all your treasured finds for thrift store shopping...and....dinner out always make me SO hungry!!!! Blessings for a beautiful rest of the week!
so happy Summer was able to save herself and drive home.. and glad you made it to the funeral and back safely to.. now that you are in Get R done mode, have fun...and Happy Dancing now that your mammo was clear
Linda, I am sorry for the loss of your dear friend. And I am so very thankful that Amber is okay. How scary for her. Looks like you and LD had some good meals. Glad you and Ruth got to do some of your normal Tuesday things. The camper is shaping up. It's going to be fun. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
I am so glad Summer is ok. It always seems to me that motorcycle owners tend to drive without a care to anyones lives. A generality, I know but all the same, those are the ones speeding the fastest and then they wonder why there are so may motorcyclists in accidents.
I sometimes think we "oldsters" can outrun the kids today hands down!
I am so sorry you lost a good friend. That is one of the sad parts of getting older, isn't it? I talked to a friend yesterday. Her hubby is 67 and the only one of his classmates (men) that is still living! Isn't that CRAZY?
Ruth looks like a hoot! My friend, Ruth, is a hoot, too! Must be the name- xo Diana
Woo hoo re the mammogram - what a day you had. I got tired just reading about it. Cheers from Carole's Chatter
Thank God your mammogram was clear Linda, poor LD must have been so terribly worried. And thank God Summer is alright too! You have bounced back in such a positive way X
Glad the mammogram thing turned out okay. Glad Summer was okay too. As always you found some really cute finds. Now those boots look like they might swallow you up.
Hugs
