Rest and Recovery Mode!

First of all, thank you for all the prayers and encouragement for my surgery today!
I am grateful to have such good friends and my wonderful family!

I arrived at the hospital right on time and everything went exactly according to plan.

Doctor Adam Crawford is excellent and I am thankful Summer recommended him to me.
While she still hasn't had her surgeries, I moved ahead with mine as fast as I could!
I'm going to love having two good feet!!

Surgery didn't start until after 2:00 so Louis Dean and I just chilled in the room and chatting while we waited.

Louis Dean is a character everywhere he goes!
The nurse went to fetch him so he could come wait with me until time for surgery. She came back and said she couldn't find him! She wanted to know what he looked like and what he was wearing. I told her, "He's tall, dark and handsome and is wearing overalls like Farmer John!" I thought he was probably in the little cafe right there by the waiting room.
Pretty soon she was back WITH him in tow!
YUP! He was right where I thought he would be!

The operation only took about 90 minutes. The other one was over twice that long!
I came out of it feeling almost 'normal!'
I guess the shorter time being 'under' made a big difference.

We picked up KFC on our way home and I propped my feet up in the den and that's where I spent the rest of this day!

Our sweet neighbor brought over some homemade Red Velvet Cupcakes!
I'm positive eating one of those cupcakes totally helped my recovery!

I'm grateful for what the medical profession and modern technology can do!
Soon I will be walking normally and praising God as I go!

For the next two weeks I am going to make a concentrated effort to 'Dial it Back' as my sister, Deanie, says, while I recover. I am also going to try my best to slow down a bit overall.
Ruth Ann and I were just talking about the fact that as we age, we MUST adjust and except the fact that we can't do as much as we did when we were younger or at the same speed we did it.
As Louis Dean's doctor told him once, "Remember! You're not 65 anymore!!"
Well, neither am I!!

I know it is the waiting that is the worst. So glad it went this well! And I bet it will be so much better than the first one! You have already had a lot of practice. You look so pretty smiling in that hospital bed!

So glad all went well and glad we connected on Facebook as I want to get your giveaway prize to you!! Maybe it will cheer your recovery. And you are right. I am 61 and I am finding I cannot do all the things I used to do with ease. So I am slowing down a bit too. The funny thing is I still feel young on the inside.:) Prayers for a rapid recovery!!

You are a chipper one, Linda! So glad that this surgery is behind you. All the best with dialing it back. I know that I have had to do that many times as the years have gone by, but I'm pretty sure that you enjoy life full tilt. Obviously, you described Louis Dean very well for the nurse to find him easily. Take it easy now!

I'm so glad all went well!! I would be so happy if you would "dial it back" and give your foot time to heal and rest your body! We are reluctant to accept the fact that our bodies truly do lose some steam as we age and it's really ok to slow down and take care of yourself! :)
