I Made UP the BED!!!!

Finally!!! This afternoon about 3:00 I felt a shift in the way I was feeling.
I think I may have just turned the corner on this sickness!
At least I certainly hope so!!
Louis Dean and I had been watching old movies earlier in the afternoon. Hoosiers with Gene Hackman was our favorite one today. We both felt so sick that we decided to just go back to bed!
When I woke up around 3:00 I could hear birds singing outside our bedroom door. I love to hear the music of the neighborhood - children laughing and playing from next door and behind us, lawn mowers chugging along and the sound of distant traffic! It may be strange but some of my favorite sounds in all the world are dogs barking, train whistles blowing, traffic and car doors slamming......all in the distance! As in a long ways off!

Louis Dean has been coming in and either sitting on the side of the bed or perched in a rather uncomfortable wooden chair to visit with me while I have been bedridden.
I started to think about what I could do to get a nicer chair in here!

Bingo! We took out the old one to use at my sewing machine and brought a small scale upholstered chair in from Louis Dean's music room. I simply covered it with a white duvet cover so that it would fit in with my white bedroom!
The back cushion slid perfectly into a heavy pillow sham!
Boom! Done!

This then motivated me to actually make up the bed!!!

Now I have a little corner to sit and sip tea while I read or play my games.

There's not any wasted space around here!!

We have been doing small chores as we feel up to it.
One such chore was clipping Maddie's claws.
She is fairly calm while I do it as long as I don't cut one too short!
Thankfully, I did good!!

Louis Dean cooked all our meals today. We only had two which is normal for us.
Finally we had something other than soup or sandwiches!
Breakfast was sausage, eggs, toast and coffee. We used FORKS!
Tonight he made oven fried pork chops, baked potatoes and I made small dinner salads to go with it.
Forks AND knives!!

This evening I dumped all the Valentines out on the table and sorted them.
These are some I have saved over the years with the oldest ones being in the mid 1980's.
My house burned in 1983 so all the ones of Summer and Jesse's childhood were destroyed.
It was fun looking at the printed names on the backs of these Valentines. Neighbor kids like Tara, Andrew, Markie and Caroline. Then friends from our home school group like Jon and Rebecca and Kendra. I even found some from cousins Jon and Sarah and ones from family friends like Reaoma and Doug, Kimmy and June and Aunt Tommie. Then there is a whole collection of special Valentines from Summer and my mother. I enjoyed a nice long stroll down Memory Lane.
I used to have even MORE than I do now but one year a RAT got into the storage building! I lost quite a bit. Rats LOVE paper! That's when I started keeping things in plastic tubs with tight fitting lids.

THIS was OUR special Valentine this year!!

It was from the grandquads!!

I am sad to say that all four of them are sick. Again.
It's been nearly a week since I have seen them and even longer for Louis Dean!

Hopefully we'll all be getting well soon!!

Linda, it sounds as if you and Louis Dean are on the mend and I am very happy about this. I clip my cat's claws about every 3 weeks. He doesn't like it but tolerates it....sometimes quietly sometimes not so quietly, but he is calmer now than when he was a kitten. He is a year and a half now.

Yeah....forks...that's a good sign. Love your bedroom in white. I'm wanted to do something different in ours for Spring. I've had my bedding for years that is on it now.. I like it...but want a change. You inspire me.
We went to church, had our left overs from Olive Garden, and just hung out this after noon. I'm in my nightgown now, ready for bed, but wanted to check in and see how you all were doing.

So glad you are feeling better. Eating with forks is a good sign. Sorry about the quads, though. If it's not one, it's the other. At least that's how it is in my family.

I am so glad you are finally better, but so sad the quads are sick again! Poor babies, they have all had their share of misery this year. Your chair fits perfectly in your pretty bedroom! Louis Dean really IS a gem if he can cook as well! And not just canned soup and sandwiches, he really cooked a meal! Sweet Maddie, our cats would never let us clip their nails. It is to be one degree tonight! Last night the wind chill was twenty below! Now we get a big snow storm tomorrow they have named Olivia. Who knew that they are now naming snow storms like they do hurricanes?

Gosh, you are having a rough time! I really hope that you are turning the corner now Linda. Nice for you to have such a comfy chair in your room to sit and dream, or for visiting husbands of course! X

So glad you felt a little better. The weather was so beautiful for a few days and the birds are singing all the time. I watched squirrels flirting yesterday. Spring is coming Linda. Y'all have to get better. :)

Awwww...that is a very dear Valentine and very true!

This sickness is the "gift" that keeps on giving. Praying for everyone to make the same corner you did so you can all be feeling well again.

And even when you're not feeling so terrific, you are moving furniture and creating wonderful corners. Amazing!

Okay, I'm in love with your bedroom... seriously. It's so beautiful and romantic. You know, one of the things I really hate about the winter is that it's cold and flu season, but I am glad you and Louis Dean are feeling a little better. It's too bad the grandkids are still sick, though. Hopefully, they'll be feeling better soon, too... :)

I know you are glad to finally be feeling better. There's nothing worse than being bedridden for days on end and not knowing when you're going to get better. Sorry to hear that the quads are sick too. I think everyone needs to stay away from each other a little while so the bug doesn't get passed back and forth. LOL! Your bed is pretty dressed in white.

Being sick is just no fun at all and especially when it just goes on and on and on. I'm glad you are beginning to feel better. DH and I stayed in separate rooms for the duration of our sicknesses during Christmas.
The special valentine from your quad sweeties is definitely a keeper.

What a pretty bedroom....and a white cat to match :-) In my old, tiny bedroom I had a comfy chair to sit and read in.....I miss that. Glad you seem to have turned the corner. Here's to a good week ahead!!!
