Back to 'Normal'.....Whatever That Means!

Finally!
The house is back to 'normal' whatever that means.
When I was a little girl about 10 years old, I constantly asked my mother if we were a 'normal' family.
'Normal' has always been important to me.
Now I am old enough to understand that 'normal' is greatly over rated.

Still.....it is a yearning of my heart and it feels good when I find it.

Christmas is gone and my home is back to normal.

Our bedroom was the last room to be reclaimed.
Louis Dean has been packing away the tubs as I fill them with the holiday debris.
This afternoon he went to Home Depot to buy another ladder so he could get into the 'upper room' aka storage area above the Christmas House. This was Amber's playhouse once upon a time. Then it became my shoe house where I kept over 100 pair of shoes and numerous purses. Then it was a lawn house where we kept the lawn mower, weeder and edger. Nothing ever stays the same around here!

While he was gone, I finished cleaning the bedroom, lit the candles and crawled into bed.
I'm not ill. Just tired. I am nearly 70 years old and I find that I need to slow down and take rests and naps when I feel like it. Today was one of those days. As was yesterday.

Louis Dean returned all discombobulated. He went to our local Home Depot to buy his ladder and they were out of stock forcing him to go to Dallas. He got stuck in traffic and did not have a good experience any where he went! Poor guy!
Not to worry! I told him to go in and take a hot bath and I finished up the potato/corn soup I was cooking. We sat with a glass of wine together as he soaked in the tub and then had our soup while we watched a little bit of the Olympics.

Just to be on the safe side - we made up the guest room where he lies sleeping as I write.

So much illness is going around that it is scary!
Amber has the flu. Logan and Trystan has had it weeks ago as did Deanie, Trish and Andie.
So far we have been fortunate in escaping it.
Our annual Siblings Trip is coming up on Friday and I am praying we all stay healthy and can enjoy our time together.

We always laugh and have so much fun!

I am so looking forward to our trip!
Just because you are not really close to your siblings tonight - that doesn't mean it will always be that way.

I agree, we need to nap just whenever we feel like it! Why could Louis Dean not find a ladder? How frustrating! This flu is scaring me silly. I have been isolating myself like a hermit. I love the big 4 picture collage on the wall by your bed!

Oh my, I thought Amber had the flu earlier. I do hope you, LD, and your siblings can avoid it. I think normal is different for everybody. How is normal established? Who writes the rules and guidelines for normal? I make my cornbread with white cornmeal, you make yours with yellow cornmeal, which is normal?

Hope that you both keep well, and all your siblings too so that you can get together as planned.

You are right when you say nothing is normal. Things can only be normal in our own way.

Normal...that is something to ponder for sure. The flu is not something to fool with and hope you and your hubby stay well.

Happy Valentines Day to you Sweethearts. Hey, eveyone enjoys a nap once they pass 60! That is my thought on the subject.

Great post Linda. Back to normal is a good thing. We each have our own meaning of it. Nap time is important. Love your take on siblings. Happy Valentine’s Day.

Your home looks so inviting, Linda, especially your bed as I too must lay down & rest MUCH more than I used to. So I can appreciate a tidy bedroom and a soft clean bed. My mom used to call my bed my "nest" when I was a little girl. I can still hear her saying that. Lovingly~ Andrea (formerly "DanMyMan & Me" but now at my new blogger home "The Feminine Energy") xoxo

Oh it has been pleasant to catch up with you. I’ve been out of the loop for a while...under the weather in all ways. Anyway, Looks as if you have made great progress! Your home always looks beautiful, cozy, and well loved.

Sorry that Amber and so many in the family have been ill. This year, so many have been sick. Here’s to better health ahead.

Have a blessed time with your sibs. I know how much these gatherings mean to you all. What a heritage!

And 💗Happy Valentine’s Day💗 to two of my favorite lovebirds—

Your family is in my prayers . All of them. I am wishing you a great fun siblings trip. Hug them all for me. Blessings to all, I love you guys, xoxo, Susie

Happy Valentine's Day Linda! I, too as a child had a large desire to be a 'normal' family. It held me back from becoming a parent because I wanted my children to have what I never did...a normal childhood. Now, as I get older I realize that no one life is truly normal, we all just do the best we can! Also, we are trying soooo hard not to get sick that I have cancelled all play dates until March!

Your home always looks warm and inviting. I just have a few stragglers from Christmas that I plan to put away this week. I need a strong helper to get them to the attic and for some reason no one here wants to be that helper. UGH!!! I hope you get to go on your annual sibling trip and enjoy it.
