Summer's Van, Tractor, Horses and a Trip to Mart! Sunday and Monday!

Summer arrived late Saturday evening at the ranch.

It was great weather and we had a good evening!
I thought I would share a few pics from her van set up which she and Louis Dean designed and constructed together. Brains and Brawn!!

Under the bed frame she has room for storage......
food......

and other things.
A collapsible trash bag - or dirty clothes hamper - a small crock pot, solar lights, tea towels, a heater for soup or water, foil sheets, shoe strings for a variety of uses.......

Summer demonstrated how collapsible it is......

Her tool kit and, YES, she knows how to use it!

Good morning!
Summer sleeps snug as a bug in a rug regardless of the weather because she has an air conditioner as well as fans and heated blankets.

Fans are what we sleep by!
I do the same thing no matter what the weather.....it's the noise......

She has so many storage places and nooks and crannies.

Sherry came down Sunday afternoon and we went to check out our bees.

And guess who drove the big red tractor????

I did and I was SO excited!!!

Here we came and the bees were doing well.
Sherry cut a board to close up  some of the entry way due to the cold weather coming......
we think they are all set for now.

This area is just behind the bee hives and provides water for our girls.
We didn't even have to suit up to do this little chore!
The bees were not at all aggressive.

I did some painting Sunday......

I finally got in the artist mode and made some progress on the manger scene.....
after feeling so like - 'What do I do now??' It's not an exact picture I am painting from and since I am giving it away, I feel extra pressure to paint it well. It is the only one I'm doing so it will be one of a kind.

Blue came down to visit with us that evening!

He's such a good dog!

Later that night, I went out to fill the water tank to the camper and when I stepped up on the side deck and looked in from the door......

I thought it looked so warm and cozy inside.

Summer redid the Christmas tree here at the ranch and I love it!

During the Cowboys/Vikings game - we all three had pedicures.
It was such a good game but, alas, the Cowboys did not win.
Sunday was a gift of a day!
Beautiful weather and a beautiful day with Louis Dean, Sherry, Dean and Summer.
My heart was happy.

This morning I was in the front room having coffee when I heard the horses come up.

I had brought a bag of carrots just for them!

Summer was up and on the front porch so she took this pic!
She captured the four horses - which includes the newest brown and white paint to the far right.
The other three haven't quite accepted him yet but he just arrived Saturday night. All four are rescue horses. Plus she got Remy and Ruger - the Great Pyrenees.

Feeding the critters is one of the pleasures of being in the country!

This is the new one.....I felt bad about not getting to give him a carrot but the others would not allow him to get near me.

Summer is amazing and took my hum drum burlap wreath to a 'whole nuther level!!'
It now sits in the window by the Christmas tree and looks so pretty.

Louis Dean had to go to big town Waco for propane to use in the big Dearborn heater he brought down here to use in the front room.
We knew a cold front was coming in so Summer and I decided to head in to Mart to pick up a few things.

The cold front arrived just as we were leaving.

It was glorious!!

We hit up the Dollar store and found so many goodies!

I did not have tea cakes the last time I had a tea party with the quads and they were all disappointed but Harrison was especially so. I am all set for the next one which I hope will be soon!

Summer snuck this into her buggy without me seeing it.
This is so meaningful for me.....
Back in my homeschooling days with Amber and Benjamin - we actually made a Turkish Delight recipe from the Chronicles of Narnia.

By the time we got back to the ranch...the wind was blowing wildly and the rain was spitting out cold spurts of water. We unloaded as quickly as we could with the wind blowing gusts as we opened and then closed the door.

We made a late lunch of Frito pie and Queso!
We ate it as we watched .....

What a good movie!

I end tonight's journal entry with this photo....
Summer putting together the straight edges of a jigsaw puzzle for me to finish while I recuperate from my knee replacement surgery in January.
It's been a good day to be in the country!!

What fun you have been having. Looks like the horses are jealous of you getting to know the new horse! Summer really has a cozy van. I like how the bee boxes are pink & blue.

I loved all you included in this post, and I hope your pretty paint horse gets a carrot next time. That is a beautiful painting of the manger scene.

You country girl you! I'm impressed with Summer's van, I remember when her and Louis Dean were working on it. Looks like she has everything she needs in case of an emergency. What sweet horses I hope the new one will be accepted into the herd and will be allowed some carrots. They sure look healthy, whoever rescued them is doing a nice job. Your paintings always impress me, you are so talented, what a gift you have. I love your tea cakes and I know the quads will too! How Fun!!

Summer looks great, and her van is neat!
Your ranch visits are wonderfully busy! I couldn't keep up!

Summer is a creative, ingenious gal! And what fun to have her visiting. Nothing like a shopping buddy, a helper in the kitchen, and a decorator, too. In that final photo, Louis Dean looks the way I do after a shopping expedition...still wearing my coat and in a stupor. ☺️

Linda, That sweet Summer is always doing such acts of kindness. You must be so proud of her, well really all your children. Sounds like it was a great time there. Hey kudos on driving the tractor. Oh I hope the horses allow the new guy to join in. He looks pretty. Blessings, stay warm. xoxo, love you, Susie

I'm glad you've had this time with at the ranch with Summer! That's quite the van! Clever design!

As to the horses, are the other horses mares? Our leader of the pack Sandy hated geldings. So I was just wondering about the pack accepting the new horse.

Oh life in the country! Driving a tractor, checking on the bees, feeding the horses, shopping in town, and bundling up and in for the cold in your own little nest!

I love how Summer has made her ven set for camping and has such a comfortable spot to sleep in. I looks like she had fun helping you to decorate. A cold front moved in here and we got snow over night and it is much colder. I'm staying in and working in the craft room today. It's nice and cozy on the inside. No need to go outside for anything.

I am not a wreathe person, but I LOVE that wreathe, it is really beautiful.. love the lights and polkadots..that photo of Summer in the wreathe should be her card this year or printed and hung on your tree. love that photo...and the smile... I get so jealous watching you drive tractors and feed horses and looking at all the dogs... wish I could be beamed there for a few hours.

I love Summer's van and what a nice way to camp! I would love to travel and this would be a fabulous way to do it. I also love the change she made to the wreath. Looks as though the horses are enjoying the carrots, but hopefully, the new horse can get one too.

Loved the country visit and Summer. So she sleeps in her van - she has it all set up! WOW. You do so much. And I love the pink and blue bee shelves. I sleep with the fan on for noise too. sandie

So much I related to in this post! I have always slept with a fan on no matter what the weather and now my kids are adults and they do it too! AND we also made turkish delight because my boys were obsessed with Chronicles of Narnia after I read it aloud to them! Such good homeschool memories you brought back to me! Summer's van is so cool and such a clever use of space! She is certainly a blessing to you, what a wonderful daughter she is! Hope you have a happy day!

Oh my, I haven't thought of Turkish Delight in many years.
I used to love it...I think I will have to scope it out again...
Love how you accomplish so much in such a short time.
We're having our Small Group over tonight for a potluck and gab-fest.
We have all been so busy and there have been health issues with some of the group,
It's going to be nice to get together again.
Enjoy your time at the ranch. I love coming here to visit.
Happy Painting.

Wow, we haven't even celebrated Thanksgiving yet in my neck of the woods, and you're already decorated for Christmas in yours. It looks really nice though.

I need some "white noise" to sleep by too, & used to use a little machine for it. But I recently discovered all kinds of rain sounds, there are apps, and youtube has loads of them. So now I sleep by rain on my ipad every night. Heavenly!
