Alaskan Cruise Day #4 - Juneau and Whale Watching!

Today was another great day on this trip of a lifetime!

This is the Princess Ruby coming into the dock area in Juneau Alaska about 6:30 this morning.
How did I get this photo since I was on the ship??

My niece, Leah, sent it to me in a text message about 6:30 this morning saying she was watching our ship come in. She was on the Bliss which was already at the dock.

While she was taking a picture of our ship - I had opened up our stateroom curtains and had been taking pictures of this big beautiful ship and nearly fell off the bed when I got close enough to read it was the Bliss!!

So there we were taking pictures of each other's ships at the very same time!!
We didn't think we would be in the same port on the same day and the only reason we were was because we couldn't get in yesterday due to high winds.

I didn't actually get to see Leah but I was still excited to know she was there the same time I was!
She and Patrick were getting off the ship to go on their whale watching excursion which included visiting a glacier - I think. The Bliss was scheduled to leave at 1:00 so they were doing things early.
We got off the ship at 10:00 this morning and are to set sail at 10:00 tonight. It is a little after 8:00 here as I write tonight. I am using my hot spot so I can post before we leave port.
Internet is hard to come by on a ship once we are out of port!

We ate a good breakfast before checking in with our tour group down on the pier.

It was an exciting day!

LOVE traveling with Brenda and Billy.
We were to meet in a certain place before we started the disembarking procedure and Brenda said to NOT get off the ship until we found each other!
I know Amber and Summer and my siblings feel much better for us to be traveling with the Cumby's!

All ready to find our transportation to the whale watching place!

We did NOT get on this one!!

How awesome to have someone pick you up and drive you to where you need to be and escort you around??

It went as smooth as silk!
Our driver and tour guide is a retired teacher - her husband drove the second bus for our group - and they work the summers up here until the end of cruise season before going home to California.
This is their 4th year!

We saw sea lions - or otters. I forgot which!

And we saw whales!!

Billy has some great pics he will share with us later but here's proof I saw a whale!!
We mostly watched from inside where it was nice and comfy - and warm.

But I went up to the top a few times.
It was hard to hang onto my camera, my hat and the rail at the same time - so I didn't stay long!

I was so excited to be doing this!!

It was pretty amazing!

The weather yesterday and today has been perfect!
Blue skies and no rain!
The guide said that last September they did not see one blue sky!

From there we went to the old part of Juneau.

The Red Dog Saloon!!
Remember I already bought my souvenir coffee cup from here - at the Goodwill a few weeks back!

It was packed but we found a table!

I love this couple and I admire the way they love each other.....
they have been married 41 years!

Our entertainment!
I do not know the history of this guy but he is really good and I am going to find out!

We had a lot of fun! Everyone there did!!

Billy knows how to have a good time!

We all had fish and chips - potato chips!
Then we looked around the gift shop and started walking back to the ship.

Such a good day!!

Brenda and Billy have been married 41 years and they are still so much in love.
It's a joy to be around them!

We returned to the ship just in time for our 5:30 dining.
Now that I am just about through with tonight's journal entry, I think I'll go out and see what all is happening on the ship tonight! There's never a dull moment.

Tomorrow we will be sailing through Glacier Bay and that's going to be exciting!!

I love seeing your happy, relaxed face! I left you a link on FB to Johnny Horton's song. He had a great voice.

How cold is it? I’m thinking you poor Texas kids in Alaska. 😁 Glad to see a smile from Louis Dean in there. I was worried.

I love it! I am so glad that the trip is going perfectly for you!!! Great whale pictures! And it really gave me a laugh to see the "Wrong coach" sign on the bus! That is strange. The animals look like Sea Lions to me, otters are smaller. How cool that your ships actually passed each other!!!

Wonderful pictures. Whale watching was maybe one of my favorite things there. Although the beautiful scenery was too! So much to enjoy there!
