Friday With Mother

Mother and I had a good day together!
We always eat lunch out so I asked her where she wanted to go.
While she couldn't SAY the name of the restaurant - she knew how to direct me there.

IHOP on Hulen!
When we walked in the hostess asked how many?
Mother said LOUD and CLEAR - "Two!"

IHOP is an easy place to order!
Their menu is mostly pictures so all Mother had to do was point!
She ordered an omelet with a short stack which she ate first!
I asked her if she was full and she said, "Not YET!"
After eating half of her omelet she said, "That's enough!"

After IHOP we did a little shopping at Ross for LESS!
I usually let Mother pick out her own gifts these days and she definitely had something in mind!

Since her stroke she hasn't been able to burn candles but she DOES love fragrance!
She made me to understand what she was looking for and we found them!
The fragrance reeds!
I bought her three! One for her bathroom, one for her bedroom and one EXTRA!
She was a happy Mother!

She showed me the  beautiful flowers that arrived on her birthday from Summer, Sabrina and Raynie.
Mother loves everything that looks pretty or smells good!
So do I!

In the afternoon she helped me do my nails.
I have OLD hands but this is a PARTY weekend and I wanted them to look nice.
Mother's hands don't look any older than MINE!

She helped me glue these on and then she painted them with a clear polish.
They look so natural!
I think she enjoyed the day and especially enjoyed helping me do my nails.
She applied the brush on glue then I would press on the nail.
Mother got a big kick out of me putting TWO nails on CROOKED!!
I told her they matched my crooked arthritis fingers!

When I left Mother I went by my sister's house for a quick visit.
Why is it the older we get the more IMPORTANT our siblings become?
My sister has been sick all week and I wanted to see her 'with my eyeball' and know she was getting better!
She and I are morphing into Mother and Aunt Irene!

After I got home Louis Dean and I made a HUGE potato salad for the Quads First Big Birthday Bash at a lake house A&M have rented for the weekend. LD chopped enough onions, celery and bell peppers for both the potato salad AND the big crock pot of baked beans.
This is a PARTY Weekend!
Tomorrow at the lake and then Sunday Raynie will celebrate her THIRD birthday!

The food is ready. The house is clean. The truck is loaded with everything from gifts to wine to Lucy's kennel. I think it's time to go to bed. The alarm will go off EARLY because we want to get to the lake house as soon as we can! It will be an all day party for US with the guests arriving at noon. Another one of my sisters (I have four!)  will get to come and I am looking forward to spending some time with her! We didn't grow up together but our hearts still match!

Friday nights are a great kick off to the weekend!!!

Enjoy your time at the lake! I wasn't aware that IHoP had a menu like that. I have never been to one. Not sure there are any here in Montreal, actually! Sounds like you had a great time.

I so envy you having time to spend your day with your mom. You two, I'm sure, had a glorious day together. She's beautiful by the way...but you don't need anyone to tell you that.

Another lovely day celebrating the simple things, which really are not so simple after all. I love that line: "our hearts match." Have a wonderful weekend celebrating!

Your mom is such a sweetheart! Sounds like y'all had a fun day together. I had to laugh when you said that you and your sister were "morphing" into other relatives. I can so relate to that as I see me and my siblings getting older. Strange how that happens huh? I hope y'all are having a great day today with the quads birthday party. Can't wait to see pics.

I always love your posts about you and your Mother's days out! You girls have too much fun! I always find myself laughing out loud though that your mother can eat so much. She's so tiny to have such a big appetite

The Quad party is going to be a blast. I bet you are so excited!!!!

Hope your weekend proves to be just as wonderful as your hoping for
