A VERY Quiet Sunday

It has been an unusually quiet day!
Louis Dean has been out in the country spending some time with his son and I have been home alone.
Ah. I loved it! I wouldn't trade my life with Louis Dean for anything in the world -
but an alone day is welcome every once in awhile.

I've napped, read, and napped some more.
The only real chore I've done was unloading some of the camper.
I'm happy to say ALL my clothes are now IN the house!
The fact that I can't fit them all in the closet and drawers is a problem to be addressed another day.
It is PAST time to weed out all my clothes!
I wear the same size (more or less - some MORE! some LESS!) I've been wearing for over 25 years.
As a matter of fact - the other day I wore a Mexican Appliqued sundress - remember them? - that I wore to the hospital the day I gave birth to AMBER! I have some really OLD clothes and I still wear them.
I gave up adhering to the current fashion long long ago.
Perhaps I never DID go with what's in style.
Up until my later 40's I was a Laura Ashley sort of gal. All feminine frills and ruffles.
As I hit the 50's I morphed into more of a classical look.
Amber says I still dress up in so many layers I look like a doily!
Loose clothes were my favorites and still are.
Perhaps that's why I can still wear them - they're just not AS loose as they once were.
But enough of that!

Louis Dean should be here anytime now.

I have a nice potato/ham soup waiting on the stove and a skillet of homemade cornbread just out of the oven. I love this kind of basic recipe. You can just add what you want. It's more of a guide line than a recipe really.
I skipped the noodles but added a white sauce and lots of garlic and pepper.

I think I'll take my book - I'm reading one of page turners you don't want to put down! - and go sit on the driveway and wait for Louis Dean. I think I've had quite enough 'quiet' now.

I love quiet days at home too. I rarely get a chance to be alone in the house any more though. But like you I wouldn't trade in my hubby for anything.

Your soup looks so good. I'm going to see if I can find the recipe in my Amish cookbook. Enjoy!

I love the naps part, I tend to do that a lot when I'm home alone. Because of our changing seasons, I have to purge a lot of clothes to have less to pack up. And I love picking up a few new things for summer and winter. The clothes I really hang on to are big old comfy sweaters and sweatshirts. The more raggedy, the better! These are my "I'm staying in today and nothing is getting me out of the house" clothes!

I hope you and LD enjoy that delicious dinner. I'm so glad you have the time to post more! :)

XO,
Jane

Hi Linda, besides the fact that you and I both love the rain (I do indeed take walks in the rain!) In fact, the purple flowers photo I shared on my blog post today was taking during one of my walks in the rain. I don't adhere to the current fashion, either, I wear what I like and what I think looks good on me. That soup that you have on the stove sounds wonderful!

It sounds like a terrific day. I agree that a quiet day goes just so far, though.

All those things give me pleasure. A day alone, a rainy day, good book, soup and cornbread, and my sweetheart back home again. The clothes and closets give me fits.

I'm getting the quiet time around here because David is always working but I'm not being productive. ;o(
Glad to hear you're catching up on some much needed rest.

I had a really quiet day too. I ended up going out to do some shopping and found some things the ids and I needed for our spring wardrobes. I got some great deals at Burlington Coat Factory. I saved about $200 on our spring clothes and I can't wait to get some pictures of the kids in their new clothes. I love shopping at www.burlingtoncoatfactory.com, but sometimes it is nice to get out to the store as well.
