Just got a call from the doctor, Harrison isn't doing very well. Last night they put him through a lot...his umbilical IV was too close to his liver so they had to take that out and poke him several times to get a PICC line in. Then they had to reintubate him as the ventilator tube was too high. Around 2am he pulled it out. So now he is back on the oscillator and basically being sedated/paralyzed because he is fighting it. I am so worried about him, I am beside myself. Headed to the NICU now...
I just received a phone call from Amber and things are looking very serious. They are desperately trying to get Harrison stabilized. He has a whole team of doctors working on him.
Latest update from Mike just a few minutes ago:
Basically he wasn't responding to their efforts, but they finally got him somewhat stable on the ventilator. There are lots of variables and several things going on.....bleeding in the lungs, air outside the lungs, brain bleed and heart murmur, possible infection. Everything is related to the lungs so it is a balancing act. Any one of the issues above could be treated individually but all at once is difficult.
New update from Amber:
Harrison has finally shown a little improvement after having to hand pump oxygen then switching up ventilators. For some reason he just hadn't responded to anything. But now he has some bleeding in his lungs, which they are assuming is from his heart PDA, a valve that hasn't properly closed due to prematurity. He is no longer having to be paralyzed but is still being kept on morphine. The room is ...quiet and they are trying to keep things calm so he will stabilize. Still has chest tube for the pneumothorax in his right side and he's now accumulated pockets of air in his lungs. He still has a heart murmur and we are hoping none of this has caused his brain bleed to worsen. He's also getting a blood transfusion to make up for all that he's lost from getting it drawn for tests. Tomorrow we find out more about the PDA and they will follow up on the brain bleed with another ultrasound. Thank you SO much for the prayers, we are trusting Him to lead us all through this.
Thank you in advance for any and every prayer for Harrison and his parents.
Current update - encouraging news!!
They have him on a blood transfusion, nitric oxide, the ventilator, morphine, versed, fluids, TPN, and antibiotics. He is responding well right now and continues to be a fighter. It's a great improvement from this morning.
Taking a break from Harrison's bedside to hold two of the girls. Pure comfort.
Thank you in advance for any and every prayer for Harrison and his parents.

Heartfelt prayers for all-we need a miracle, and they do happen.
Hang in there, little man cub.
This makes me weepy, I can only imagine how you and his parents must feel. Praying for a mighty intervention from God. I am praying/asking/believing better news is forthcoming.
Oh dear, I'm so sorry that Harrison has been through all of this today. I'm calling John in to read this right now as he has a tender spot for these quads and has been a prayer warrior on their behalf. Much love and comfort to you all. Praising God for the latest encouraging news.
Praying and Praying for that little guy, also for Amber, Mike, and you Linda, God give you strength thru this difficult time.
Thanks for keeping us updated.
Take Care
Just catching up..and read all the wonderful posts about the babies being born..and now to read about Harrison having a bad day...such turmoil and worry for a Grandma..sending prayers for all of you:)
OMG! I'm so sorry to hear that Harrison has been through so much and struggling so desperately! It is such a scary and worrisome time when preemies fight to stay alive like that. His precious little body just wasn't ready to be born. Thank goodness for how far science has come though! My mom lost 2 babies to being premature back in the 1950's. Today's odds are SO much better. Sounds like the doctors are doing a great job keeping track of his every need. I will say a prayer for sweet Harrison and you all. I know this is not an easy time right now.
Linda, I had emailed Amber a few days ago but just wanted to each out and say I have been praying for Amber, the quads and entire family since about 14 weeks. I had my son at 29w5d on May 31, 2009. He had severe brain bleed (grade III-IV) and almost ALL of the issues I have been reading about Harrison. My heart is with you all. My son just turned 3, he had had 8 major neurosurgeries, a PDA ligation, too many minor procedures to count.. BUT he IS here, 3 y.ears later, and thriving. I keep checking for updates and am praying. I have my family and friends praying too. Just wanted to let you guys know all the way in PA we are praying hard.
Many prayers for Harrison along with Mike and Amber!!
Joe and I have been praying all day for dear little Harrison. I won't repeat all I have said to you on your fb page, but know lots of prayers from Philly are going up on Harrison's behalf.

Oh Linda, sending many prayers for little Harrison. Sounds like he is one tough fella. Please continue to keep us updated.
Much love to you and your whole family.
So little to have to fight so hard...praying.
I'm just coming here now to hear of Harrison's most recent struggles...and I am so sorry. I'm adding my prayers to those of many. May God strengthen his little body...and bring him through this setback.
I sure hope Harrison quits scaring us like this. When I was talking with a nurse at the quilt guild she was telling me it's called the Whimpy White Boy syndrome in premature babies. What a name. Saying prayers for all 4 Little Bells and mom and dad too. ;o)
Hugs
