Sometimes I Bite Off More Than I Can CHEW!!!

It seems to be a habit! I always THINK I can do MORE than I actually CAN!!
Yesterday I THOUGHT I could go to Home Depot, buy all my supplies AND stucco the top of the wall AND Kiltz the bottom! I was already feeling overwhelmed!

So after our supply run we stopped at Applebee's for a LATE lunch and/or and EARLY dinner!
It DID include a margarita for me!!

After the drink - and a NAP - I did, indeed, stucco the top portion of the hall.

I've never done this before but I like it!!!
Amber's house was my inspiration and her painter told me how to do it!
Suffice it to say, I ONLY got the stucco part done. We bought a box of ready mixed joint compound that weighed 48 pounds! I put at least 38 of those pounds ON my hall walls! WITH my head tilted and holding a large container AND standing on my step stool!!! It was NOT easy!
Poor Louis Dean had to scrape me up and help me to bed. I was a basket case after I finished and FORGET the Kiltz!!! WHAT was I THINKING????

This morning I loaded myself in the car and headed to Fort Worth! Fridays with Mother are priceless.
Energy or not! Mothers don't care!
We lunched at IHOP and she enjoyed seeing a slide show of my August pictures to date.
She and I did errands - both mine and hers before I headed home by way of my son's house.

I picked up my GRAND dog, Sadie! She is spending the weekend with us while her family go on a trip to the beach! She fits right in!!! I came in and did my housewife chores (otherwise known as DAMAGE CONTROL!) and started in on the Kiltz in the hall!

No more DUNGEON of a hall.......I am so excited about lightening it up!
And this is just with the stucco and kiltz!

What a pleasant surprise to find it raining when I finished!!!

Louis Dean has been busy working on the electricity in the camper....

so  that's where we had our evening glass of wine!

Happy Friday night from our home to yours!!!

Hi Linda, I know what you mean about biting off more than you can chew. I think we have all had moments like this and it can be quite overwhelming. Glad that you got some "down time" with your dear mother, and I am sure she appreciated it, too.

Whew!
Wondering how sore you're gonna be in the morning.
Perhaps a weekend break is in order. :-)

I always bite off more than I can chew too!
You did great for your first time with stucco!

You accomplish more in a day than I do in ten! You're my hero. LD, too.

Vee is right. I could never do in a day what you do. A month maybe. The stucco looks good. I would never even attempt it. Can't wait to see the hallway done. But take your time. It will be there when you are ready. You keep saying it to me, so I'll say it to you -- pace yourself!

You are a busy gal - but I think that is what keeps you so young and beautiful looking. Good job on the stucco.

Linda, you have more energy than anyone I have ever met! I can't wait to see the completed hallway.

I could use some of your energy. I need things done in my house, but too much for me. I still do my yard and it may come to a point I have to give it up. I hope not as I do enjoying being outside. The heat and age has a way of slowing you down tho.

Oh, Linda...I do this very thing ALL THE TIME. My MIND says, o, yeah, baby...you can get this and this and this done today....but my poor olden body has a mind of it's own and when it gets tired, that's the end of the work day. :)
So glad you are able to spend time with your mama.

Your hallway looks better already! I can tell it's going to look so good when it's finished. I love your grand dog, Sadie! Isn't she a Boston Terrier? That's what I have. Mine is black and white though. Sadie looks like she has a lot of brindle in her. She's so cute sitting on the car seat. Try to get some rest on Sunday. You need it!

Great job on the stucco. You had rain? I'm jealous. We only had a little teasing thunder.

Did the painter mention you could put paint in the mud to add color?
Then you rag on or brush on a glaze for more texture or definition.
But you did a great job on the mudding.
